WS6 probably got locked out of 3rd gear...a common issue on LS1 T56's in the higher rpm. New slave cylinder needed or the drill mod at the very least. Regardless the Cobra was the better car here. NEXT!!!
Im a mustang guy but i love every muscle car, but even you Ford guys need to give credit to GM for making such a fucking good engine like the LS1 and all other LS series engines.

@Mattjosh50 to put it simple they open and close the intake and exhauts valves. a good cam or cams would be on that opens and shuts fast it gives u a better timing curve to work with to geat better air fuel ratio and ignition
@Mattjosh50 they determine how long the valves are open, how much they open and how much the intake and exhaust valves overlap. alot of overlap gives that lumpy sound. basically, they allow more air in and out of the motor which makes more hp.

ford is only fast with power outters. cobra, saleen, rousch, gt500, super snakes. etc... this is because they cant build a real muscle engine. they atleast realized they sucked at making cars goes fasts so they supercharge everything, hell they even supercharged their truck to be fast. give that trans am a supercharger and its a whole different story. gm is better and bigger than ford. its been that way for years. but i give credit to die hard ford fans for sticking with it.

@lefty6758 Roush is horrible. Saleen/Shelby are the only way to go for special mustangs. I mean sure they have good performance gains, but my god their body kits are horrific. Especially the SN95 roushes. And honestly man, i suggest gettin a turbo. Kenne Bell definitely is a HUGE player in the blower game but blowers, well they just suck. Just take a step back and look at them... they TAKE power to MAKE power... seems stupid when were in 2011 with a bunch of new technology ya know? turbo it.

@lefty6758 oh I bet you have man, a forged v8 just screams 'buy a turbo' in my mind... i think the only way id go with a blower is if i know my car could handle ALL of the extra low end off the line. There arent too many cars with the correct suspension or tires to handle the full load of a blower (roots/twin screw) comin off the line, so thats when people witch to centri's. But those are very inefficient and have lag as well. If you build your motor correctly, you wont see drastic lag.

@lefty6758 Yea I've heard ALOT of mixed feelings about it, some say its fine for drag, others say its the only downside to that car, but if I owned one (hopefully i will one day lol) id drop the IRS and get a chevy 9" or 12 bolt. Well it all depends on what you want, i see a ton of twin setups on cobras on youtube but id prefer one larger turbo instead. an average sized turbo/kit costs about 5k for my car. Again it varies and bigger turbo's will run you more $ on3 & hellion have good cobra kits.
when i had mine the irs was fine until around high 400hp and into the 500s. it would wheel hop like a dam earthquake. it pretty much had every bolt on and ported blower. when i swapped to a 2.8 kenne bell i swapped the irs to a built 8.8 and other extras and never looked back performed great. you can do a 9'' i think would be the best route

I don't why you guys are so hooked on displacement. Ford went with multivalves and multicams while GM and Dodge remained truthful to the musclecar era of 305, 350, 355, 400, 404, 427, 455 ci. engines.
IF displacement is your concern then look at GM's V6 3.6 liter that puts down 312 hp and soon 330 hp base Caddy with multivalve and cams, while Ford's 3.7 liter V6 does 305hp. So there you have it.
Alright look..... The blower on our cobra's are 1.6 liters in displacement and with the 4.6 liters our engines have you can add those two numbers together and can say our engines are equivalent to a 6.2 liter engine. So mathematically speaking, cobras have more displacement than the 5.7's, our match would be the GTO....

@tufmandan But you know even displacement vs. displacement GM still wins. Look at their trucks and their V6's. They produce more HP and TQ. GM is only nostalgic of yesteryears of engine displacement of 305, 350, 400, 427, 455. I'm glad GM and Dodge is still doing this, while Ford has decided to move away from it and go with multi-valves and cams.
@trevinboy 232 V6 of a Mustang has 192hp while 231 V6 of Camaro has 205hp (Y87 package). Cobra R 5.4 is a limited version of a racing engine with high compression. It wasn't a relialbe engine because it wasn't seen in the following year. They've to lower the compression and add a blower to it to make reliable. We know that GM has a 405hp 5.7 and that one was mass produce and it ran for 5 years.
Basically, Ford made a decision to go multicam/valve while GM remained true to the muscle engine

So Stang falls behind again. As far as displacement is concern you totally ignored my sources there GM beats Ford in the same displacement. Ford needs a blower and multi-cam and valves.

@mid11s72nova That 5.0 likely had a driver error. I had a 2002 Z28 auto that I traded for a 2011 Mustang GT auto. Both stock, and there is no way my Z28 would have walked on this 5.0. None whatsoever. A Z28 with a few mods, maybe its possible but enough money in any vehicle makes that possible. But stock to stock a Z28 isnt walking on a 5.0 without a driver fuck up, and this isnt coming from a fanboy its coming from someone whose owned both cars being referenced.

i have beat both an automatic and a manual 2005-2010 body style mustang gt in my 05 350z with only cold air intake, sticky tires, and an exceedy clutch. they arent all that impressive. my friend has a bullet mustang and weve raced time and time again and he has never pulled more than a car length on me.

@lefty6758 Roush is horrible. Saleen/Shelby are the only way to go for special mustangs. I mean sure they have good performance gains, but my god their body kits are horrific. Especially the SN95 roushes. And honestly man, i suggest gettin a turbo. Kenne Bell definitely is a HUGE player in the blower game but blowers, well they just suck. Just take a step back and look at them... they TAKE power to MAKE power... seems stupid when were in 2011 with a bunch of new technology ya know? turbo it.

@lefty6758 oh I bet you have man, a forged v8 just screams 'buy a turbo' in my mind... i think the only way id go with a blower is if i know my car could handle ALL of the extra low end off the line. There arent too many cars with the correct suspension or tires to handle the full load of a blower (roots/twin screw) comin off the line, so thats when people witch to centri's. But those are very inefficient and have lag as well. If you build your motor correctly, you wont see drastic lag.

@lefty6758 Yea I've heard ALOT of mixed feelings about it, some say its fine for drag, others say its the only downside to that car, but if I owned one (hopefully i will one day lol) id drop the IRS and get a chevy 9" or 12 bolt. Well it all depends on what you want, i see a ton of twin setups on cobras on youtube but id prefer one larger turbo instead. an average sized turbo/kit costs about 5k for my car. Again it varies and bigger turbo's will run you more $ on3 & hellion have good cobra kits.

when i had mine the irs was fine until around high 400hp and into the 500s. it would wheel hop like a dam earthquake. it pretty much had every bolt on and ported blower. when i swapped to a 2.8 kenne bell i swapped the irs to a built 8.8 and other extras and never looked back performed great. you can do a 9'' i think would be the best route

I don't why you guys are so hooked on displacement. Ford went with multivalves and multicams while GM and Dodge remained truthful to the musclecar era of 305, 350, 355, 400, 404, 427, 455 ci. engines.
IF displacement is your concern then look at GM's V6 3.6 liter that puts down 312 hp and soon 330 hp base Caddy with multivalve and cams, while Ford's 3.7 liter V6 does 305hp. So there you have it.

The blower on our cobra's are 1.6 liters in displacement and with the 4.6 liters our engines have you can add those two numbers together and can say our engines are equivalent to a 6.2 liter engine. So mathematically speaking, cobras have more displacement than the 5.7's, our match would be the GTO....

@trevinboy 232 V6 of a Mustang has 192hp while 231 V6 of Camaro has 205hp (Y87 package). Cobra R 5.4 is a limited version of a racing engine with high compression. It wasn't a relialbe engine because it wasn't seen in the following year. They've to lower the compression and add a blower to it to make reliable. We know that GM has a 405hp 5.7 and that one was mass produce and it ran for 5 years.
Basically, Ford made a decision to go multicam/valve while GM remained true to the muscle engine

It's only in the early 80's and 2011 did Mustang got the edge on Camaro.2012 the Camaro moves to an alpha platform which would mean lighter body plus a 450hp standard engine. Late 2012 the Vette and Camaro are moving into the alpha platform which is said to be 500lbs lighter than the Aussie Zeta. The Vette would be just below 3k in weight. @f34rthe4banger well i happen to have a 2000 z28 auto with 3.73s, no headers/intake/program/exhaust.. on gears, and i pulled all over a new 5.0 from a roll that had a tune, headers, exhaust, cold air intake (500 hp).. and i walked it by 4 to 5, from a roll.. itd been way more from a dead stop, so either ur car was made monday or friday or u cant drive :)

@f34rthe4banger ur right simple numbers, have you ever thought maybe for over rates for what there stuff is? all these 500rwhp 03-04 cobras running 12s, and these 5.0s that put down 420 stock, then they add stuff that probably dont help as much as its suppose to, and the 305hp camaro that dynos 330rwhp on a dyno, STOCK with a 3400stall and 3.73s? have you once thought that mustangs put down big numbers but dont run how it should? or that maybe fbodies are underrated to get them out the door?

@mid11s72nova i dont know where u get ur numbers, my cobra has 472rwhp and i ran 11.2 in the 1/4 with street tires. there is 1 guy with about same build running 10.9 with slicks. GM guys are always just so bias on their stuff they dont even look up other peoples stuff.

@f34rthe4banger you should think about it, mustangs SUCK on the street, fbodies hook and go, they dont spin like cobras, and the 5.0 i ran from a roll had no problems and was just tuned, shifted fine and ran good. but i pulled a few on him, they run high 12s with a pro driver, same with cobras.. fbodies do low 13s but hook on the street.. and you say simple numbers, have you thought about the weight by any chance??

@mid11s72nova How are you gunna hate on them? I love Ford and Chevy. By the way the mustang only weighs 3600lbs, so mearly 150lbs more. I see new 5.0s running mid to low 12s on E/T's with just exhaust. Tell your buddy to let you drive his car, my camaro put down 339rwhp, buddies new 5.0 made 389rwhp and only weighs 100lbs more. So yes, numbers dont lie or mess up, but drivers do.

@mid11s72nova That 5.0 likely had a driver error. I had a 2002 Z28 auto that I traded for a 2011 Mustang GT auto. Both stock, and there is no way my Z28 would have walked on this 5.0. None whatsoever. A Z28 with a few mods, maybe its possible but enough money in any vehicle makes that possible. But stock to stock a Z28 isnt walking on a 5.0 without a driver fuck up, and this isnt coming from a fanboy its coming from someone whose owned both cars being referenced.

MY Z28 is rated at 305, i have 373s and 75shot, the bottle was unused and we ran from a roll and i pulled it pretty good, THE SAME CAR WAS SOLD, rebought by someone else, my friends 02 z28 with headers and stall,gears walked all over it from a dig, VIDEO PROVEN

@mid11s72nova I'm not exactly sure what you are saying here....Are you saying your Z28 with 305 HP and an unused 75 shot beat a 500HP 2011 GT?! Because that is not even possible without driver error. However an 02 Z28 with headers, stall, and gears would put that a bit over 305HP now wouldnt it? So that car beating a 2011 GT doesnt overly surprise me. I'm talking stock to stock, I've driven both a 2011 GT and an 02 Z28 and can say with NO doubt which is faster. Can you say you've done that?

@Punisher7121 no i have not PERSONALLY drove a 5.0 but yes i have been around them and yes they run good and by far the best car out in 2011 in my opinion.. but my friend has one with exhaust and tune, 480hp with the 3.73 option, my other friend outran in with a headers, exhaust, convertor, and gears Z28.. and ive outran it with mine also, both owner and previous owner drove the car well, the 5.0 has slicks now so im sure we will race again from a dig.. bottle to bottle it will be close probably

Thats not stock vs stock, now is it? I'm saying 5.0 is faster stock, only point Ive tried to make from the beginning. I wont argue anything about what happens after mods, because you throw enough shit on a civic and it can beat a LS1 and 5.0....

i have beat both an automatic and a manual 2005-2010 body style mustang gt in my 05 350z with only cold air intake, sticky tires, and an exceedy clutch. they arent all that impressive. my friend has a bullet mustang and weve raced time and time again and he has never pulled more than a car length on me.
