  • The half life of methane in the atmosphere is 7 years. It is broken down into H2o and co2. If you burn methane you produce co2. The thing is that it is carbon neutral. It does not remove co2 from the air, so the problem continues to get worse due to the burning of fossil fuels. Nothing is undoing what the fossil fuels are doing.. a car getting 100 miles per gallon of gas is still putting co2 into the air and nothing is taking it out but biomass.The biomass in turn releases it back into air
