That is pretty weird. They also have the comm wire rigged through the top handle...just a different way of doing things, I suppose.

that is a kirby morgan sl-17 and most a lot of companies won't let you use them anymore.

Where are you getting that info? SL-17 is currently produced and lots of divers are wearing them.
