  • How White people respond to a flood

  • I was there. This was only half (or less) of the total efforts by citizens cities wide.

Katrina (aftermath) wouldnt happen here, people wouldnt let it.

    Are we human?

    We are dancer.

    -Qes

  • Imagine katrina with this response.

  • i was there on march 29th it was awesome, half of the floor was filled with pallets stacked full of sandbags, the other half was full of row's of sand getting bagged, it was crazy, its really wierd to see construction equipment in a place like that

  • Everyone who came and helped sandbag was fantastic! I just want to say thanks to everyone who did! You probably saved the cities!

  • Barnesville? Where is that?

    (I'm from Hawley ; ] )

  • About 20-25 miles southeast of Fargo on I-94

  • About 20-25 miles east of Fargo on US 10 : \

  • Yeah I've been there. I actually live about 10 miles south of Hawley

  • time lapse, that was real time damn were good workers

  • HAHAH! IT sure felt like it, didn't it? I live in Bismarck, and when they announced totals I was like, WHAT? That many in so few days?

  • at least this flood reminded the US of our existence

  • And don't build in the earthquake zone, and don't build in tornado alley, and don't build in hurricane zone, and don't build near volcanoes, and don't build where it's really cold, and don't build where it's really hot, and don't build where it's really wet and don't build where it's really dry, and don't build don't build don't build...

  • DON'T BUILD ON A FLOODPLAIN!! Mattlxngtn, you are an uneducated moron. Because it is a floodplain, it has some of the most fertile soil in the world, thus some of the most productive farmland. All that agriculture needs services, such as banking (Fargo-Moorhead has one of the highest people to bank ratios in America). And all those people providing services need services, thus you get a large population. These are the kind of things you learn in 8th grade geography class, btw.

  • A person from Kentucky calling people rednecks?

  • They didn't, you moron, 95 percent of the area being sandbagged is behind dikes that have protected it from every flood since the area has been settled, and is NOT in a FEMA Flood Plain. Even with that said, with less money than was spent on bonuses for 150 people at AIG, the dikes could be raised to protect 150,000. That's the not so funny part.

  • Rednecks?Really?Well,if that's how you feel,my daughter is one of the rednecks who has been sandbagging since Monday!I'm proud of her, hope your Mom is proud of you considering you're an uninformed IDIOT!How can you make a comment like that!Glad you're not my kid!

  • Please if you are uninformed. Do not make comments.

  • Makes us look like an effing circus! :-\

  • Oh, and I heard just a few minutes ago that Fargo alone had filled 3.5 million sandbags over the past week, and those are still coming. Yesterday alone, this whole area packed 500,000.

  • Great effort by all involved!

  • I'm coming from Buffalo to help sandbag. We here in Buffalo,NY heard the river could crest at 43 feet now. You guys in Fargo have lot's of support coming from Buffalo. Our National Gaurd is on stand by to rush in to your area. I'm taking an Amtrek train as we speak and I'm just passing Chicaco. I will be in Fargo by about 2pm EDT or 1pm CDT.

  • RANDOM

  • ants we are..... ants!

  • This must have still been relatively early on Tuesday. I was there late tuesday and wednesday morning and there were hundreds of pallets stacked along the west (top) wall and the north (right) endzone... We made half a million sandbags a day

However, like another poster mentioned...this was the Fargodome, not Sandbag Central. At SC they were using the "spiders" to mechanically fill the bags

  • My little sis came down from UND to help fill sand bags at the FargoDome yesterday, I'm so proud of her! Keep up the good work volunteers, I'm so sad I can't be there to help my home state right now.

  • I'm at UND right now but I'm from the Fargo-Moorhead area.

When I-29 was good enough to drive on, we sent over 800 students in like 4 shifts. Many more went down on their own. I was at the Fargodome filling sandbags, we had to leave early due to the weather but we still managed to help, even for a little bit.

As sad as it sounds, we all look like ants. But that just means we can work together for each other when help is needed. I am so happy to live here, and to be from here. Good luck Fargo

  • Go Bison. Go Spuds.

When I move South, I want to take Fargo with me. This is such a great community! Most of the people you see filling, doing the hard, dirty work are volunteers. And thousands more used those bags to build the dikes outside in the damn sleet and snow!

  • just so you all know, for sandbagging purposes, sandbag central is another sandbagging location, this video is from the FARGODOME

  • Who ever organized all that should get a pat on the back. Someone knows how to take action.

  • as a resident of moorhead, i'm proud that this video is being watched by those not here

  • that is what community is all about coming together to help each other! Oh wait we in the united states don't like that word, commune, communism, community, I mean way to capitalize off of your misfortune, No overtime, just keep working around the clock. Capitalize!!!!!!

  • More like socialism. Woody Guthrie would be proud.

  • Good luck guys. Luck is simply the shortened version of hard work and being prepared.

  • Nice! Good job to everybody. I was there on the first Friday at the sanitation center, but my leave expired on Sunday. I would give anything to be able to help out! Stay strong, and warm!

  • The last few days I've learned how hard working and committed the FM area really is. It's great

  • Love to see a time-lapse vid of the sandbags going up along the river.

  • The audio. It hurts. Needs a worker-bee kind of soundtrack. Vid is nice though.

  • Who cares about the bells and whistles...it's just like what they are all doing along the river, just get the job done.

  • I put some music to it - and another clip I found...

I was there in 1997 at Concordia and it's great to see all the colleges doing it again! Yes, they have improved the system - BIG TIME!

Now I'm in Seattle - nice and dry, but I wish that I was back there helping. I've been listening to KFGO Radio on-line all day. It sound like getting some traffic cops out is the biggest need right now. People in the F/M area do not deal with traffic well... blocking intersections is not good.

  • When seattle is nice and dry compared to us that's pretty sad. :-P

  • This is awesome! I wish them luck. One question... how are they able to be so organized with out FEMA?

  • FEMA Fix Every Mess Afterwards..... fargo residents dont mess around!

  • Because we're awesome.
