Thanks for this video. My friends and I have been doing hookah/shisha for just over a year now and we set up our hookah pipes much like yours, I haven't seen coals put around the edge of a bowl like that before though, we usually put ours in the middle, does that make a difference to the smoke?
TIP: If youre using quicklight coals make the holes in the thin foil as tiny as possible so use a needle or something.. Why? cuz quicklights ash allot and when youre holes are big the ash will fall in the tobacco what makes the shisha harsh (bad taste) if youre using natural coals like coconara it doesn't realy matter how big the holes are thats up to you cuz coconaras don't ash allot!

I put ice in my hose only down side is the ice melts and u get water in your hose but just raise ur hookah and clear the water out.

I think you are absolutely right,smoking hookah causes more health damage than cigarettes smoking,it takes longer to smoke it and smoke goes way deeper into a smoker lungs /it takes more effort to make a puff/
@pmills076 why would you dry it? a friend of mine has a syrup like substance which you mix in with the tobacco befor setting up :) so you really dont need to dry it

i just bought a new 30 inch egyptian hookah but the gromets that hold my bowl on top keep melting and ive used sume aluminum foil around there keeps it more tight than nothing but is there a replacement product for gromets? ive tried tape and not only it melted i broked a bowl so if there is something i can d o please help thanks

Hookah smoke is about as bad for you as vapourisation, as long as you cool it properly i.e. not very bad at all.

I always smoked hookah in a hookah bar and never at home. Finally I bought one and tried it out today(3/17/2011) and I got the guava flavor but when I put the coals, it just tasted like plain burning coals and was getting in my throat... Please help so I can enjoy hookah in a bar and home... Merci
@MrMishinson1 leave some space between the foil and the shisha. if the shisha is touching the foil there is a good chance that you are burning it and so you get harsh smoke.
If you are using thin aluminum foil there is a high probability that it is overheating so use two (or three) sheets of foil and put the coals on the EDGE of the bowl, not on the center.

@laidjohn15 your hose is probably not washable. if you wash it you will destroy it.
if it is a chinese hookah I advise you to either buy a better one or to try and modify your hose. Buy some clear tubing (1/2" diameter, 2 meters long) and use it instead of your hose.

Benefits of smoking hookah are less chemicals from paper and tar. You do get more nicotine though which does give you a feeling of relaxation. My family is from Turkey and we buy our hookah pipes from there, they are beautiful and the flavor blends can be pretty exoctic! Nice tutorial!
Is there any effects if my hookah is shorter, like somewhere about 9 inches tall? Maybe I should buy a taller one, but I don't know if that will give something to me because I usually smoke alone.
@Dookiesama ur really only supposed to use hookah specific coals using other coals like bbq coals could b dangerous if maybe poisonous but any type of hookah coal will just about work, :D happy smoking
@priklodrakoulas you can get tongs or something like that to hold the coals and use a light, torch or whatever you have and just keep the flame on them and blow on them a little to get them going faster

@cheeseburger9418 No matter what, smoking anything is going to be bad for you, but hookah is way less dangerous than smoking cigarettes because you're not smoking like a thousand different harmful chemicals. So to answer your question, is it bad for you? Yes. Does it really matter? No.

I always smoked hookah in a hookah bar and never at home. Finally I bought one and tried it out today(3/17/2011) and I got the guava flavor but when I put the coals, it just tasted like plain burning coals and was getting in my throat... Please help so I can enjoy hookah in a bar and home... Merci

@mapl3wei You want to make sure you have a tight seal that doesn't let air in. If not you will not get a good draw when you inhale.

@MrMishinson1 leave some space between the foil and the shisha. if the shisha is touching the foil there is a good chance that you are burning it and so you get harsh smoke.
If you are using thin aluminum foil there is a high probability that it is overheating so use two (or three) sheets of foil and put the coals on the EDGE of the bowl, not on the center.

I bought a really small hokah about a month ago,and I still havent used it...Anyway,last night I seted it up (only with water,because i still havent bought coal etc)and when I inhaled I tasted a wierd smell...With what should I clean the hose?(The hose is made by somekind of leather)HELP ME MAN!!!CHEERS!!!

@laidjohn15 your hose is probably not washable. if you wash it you will destroy it.
if it is a chinese hookah I advise you to either buy a better one or to try and modify your hose. Buy some clear tubing (1/2" diameter, 2 meters long) and use it instead of your hose.

i have had a problem lately im not new in setting up my hookah... but everytime i set it up and i smoke it.. it tastes like just plain coal... burning taste i use coconara coals 3 of them and they fit on the bowl enough to put maybe 4 or 5 but the problem is the taste im using turkish tobacco and it just tastes like coal not even alittle taste of the flavor put... i put more water ice anything... idk what it is... what should i do?

@LeoTPred you should crumble ur flavour first.. well in ur comment ur saying ur not new in smoking hookah, or your flavour is fuckd up ^^ (not to be harsh or anything) or your coal is just too strong get other ones instead i had the same problem just tasted like coal then i tried other flavour then it when i started to enjoy shisha again :3

@PottersWheel85 Basically, He let the coals heat up the tobacco so the first hit gets a nice amount of smoke and flavor, You can start immediately after putting the coals on, and start taking a few puffs to get the smoke going

Benefits of smoking hookah are less chemicals from paper and tar. You do get more nicotine though which does give you a feeling of relaxation. My family is from Turkey and we buy our hookah pipes from there, they are beautiful and the flavor blends can be pretty exoctic! Nice tutorial!

@priklodrakoulas you can get tongs or something like that to hold the coals and use a light, torch or whatever you have and just keep the flame on them and blow on them a little to get them going faster
