i always had this question, Ok talking about Traveller with builtin Cuemix, So does that mean even if i run Traveller using my Netbook (for level control), it will give me No Latency with smooth audio?
hi, i am a bigenner in Sequencing and recording and i wish to buy an Audio Interface,i want something which will support Midi and has atleast 8 in's out's etc,is M-Audio profire 26/26 better than Motu? will i be able to run midi(VST'S) on 896mk3 cus i cud not see any Midi in's in it?,how is 828mk3 if compared to profire26/26?
If you are looking to record a live band setup, or micing a drum set for recording then you will definitely want to go with the 8pre simply because of the 8 pre-amps instead of just the 4. You will get more use out of it, as well as better micing options for recording live etc. It boils down to user preference and goals, if you're aiming mainly to get an interface with mobility, then the Traveler would be your best bet. It has plenty of I/O and still has the 4 great sounding pre-amps. Good Luck!
good video... im looking at buying either one of these units, (only after seeing this video) or the mkIII im still unsure tho... im using logic pro, so i need something thats going to work well with logic. any suggestions?
Do you think MOTU Interfaces have good Preamps? I have a M-Audio Fast Track Pro and I think about gettin a Motu 828 MK III, I'm lookin forward to record with a good mic like a Neumann maybe a Shure SM7B. Do you believe the Preamp-Sound is good enough, in comparison to a RME Fireface for example?
I have not worked with the RME Fireface, but in my experience, the mic pre inputs on the 828mk3 provide good quality combined with neutral, transparent sound. However, considering the mic options you've mentioned I would recommend a stand alone preamp. Perhaps something from ART which offer good quality for a fair price. Or, you could check out the Eureka from Presonus, This is a popular piece with our customers. Check out our site, we have plenty of solutions. Hope this helps, thanks!
@FiSTFigHT09 The Presonus Eureka is actually a single channel Mic Pre. Be it a very excellent choice if you’re recording vocals and such, but it can not really be fairly compared to the MOTU Traveler MK III which is an entire interface in itself which serves a much bigger purpose than a single channel mic pre would. But to reiterate, the Eureka is a GREAT choice for any mic preamp applications.
I have to disagree with the Markertek guy on putting an ART in front of the MOTU. I have a Traveler and it's sweet. My producer friend and I did an AB test against an interface that was 3,500.00 in a controlled test and the moto gear sounded as good. ART is not as clean. Presonus has cheaper preamps and connectors. DO NOT SKIMP ON YOUR INTERFACE! Everything goes through it. If you pay less the savings comes out of the preamps, and MOTUs are sweet. He's just trying to sell you gear. MOTU!
The only hardware interfaces compatible with the M-Powered version of pro tools are M-Audio interface such as the FireWire 1814, FirWire2626, Project Mix IO, FireWire 410, Ultratrack etc...
20 ins and outs ... but can only record 4 mono tracks ?? lame for $800 bucks

The MOTU is a cool piece of kit and gets a mention on the baudio.net blog:
baudi-o.blogspot.com
the fact that it has so many I/O options makes it a recordists dream.

@SomewhereNorthOf The New protools LE 9 is compatible with all Motu audio interfaces. Also the track count and sampling rates are now higher too.
