I saw this video a while ago. Decided to ask my doctor about eating meat when I visited him today. He said it was fine as long as it wasn't in excess.
well, I love these videos and I am vegan but if they want to eat carcass and lard and die... let them... I don't like it but I don't like people forcing their opinions on me...
@SuperMatthewspencer It's not about forcing opinions but raising awareness as to what an impact the choice to eat meat makes. Clearly, eating meat doesn't only affect the person eating meat, so it is not as simple as "to each their own".
stop the bullshit already, there are millions of people around the world. that are over a hundred years old, that are still alive eating meat and fish.
It so funny how people can be so blind to the hard evidence - meat and dairy is killing people and animals. And these big corporations - fast food industry, pharmaceutical, meat and dairy industry - are glad to keep them ignorant, while they rack in the money. Please watch documentary "Forks Over Knives", if you care anything about your health.
Man I love meat. Vegetables are also delicious! Nuts and fruits go down quite nice as well. Hmm I wonder why that is? Oh yeah that's right human beings are omnivores and also the most adaptable species on the planet that's why both meat and vegetables taste good to us.
Just because you can eat meat, doesn't mean you should. Primates, our closest DNA relatives, are frugivores. They eat mostly fruit, 80% of their diet is fruit. We can eat paper, nails, fabric, but it isn't good for us.
@lovebigboobs29 Actually, we ARE animals. Our species is classified by biologists as "homo sapiens" (of the genus "homo") of bipedal primates in Homindae, the great ape family.
But, um...then again, here I am discussion science with someone named "lovebigboobs29." My bad.
[head-desk]
P.S.: Wait, wait, let me do it for you: "@dubitandum: YOU'RE a 'homo,' dood!" Touché.
@lovebigboobs29 I'm sure you ARE indeed "above" animals...whenever you're standing over one of them :-) (Hope one of them gives you a bite in the ass to remind you of reality.)
P.S.: Must be nice to "know" things, regardless of facts. How lovely for you.
Out of curiosity, what color is the sky in your world? :-)
@dubitandum My world is awesome :) Too bad yours must suck. The sky is also blue where I live. No, humans are above animals in every aspect. There are no facts in bullshit vegan propaganda videos.
P.S.: And BTW, I wish you good luck with the whole "seeking big boobs" thing!
My wife is a D cup, BTW: beautiful, vegetarian (natch) and smart as hell (yeah, my world sure sucks, LOL)...but I'm SURE there's some nice bosomy gals out there somewhere looking for a fact-challenged moron/troll who proudly posts on YouTube about how much he loves his "cruel lifestyle." So...best of luck with that!
@dubitandum I have a woman whom is bi and has a big chest. Real women don't give a shit about petty things like meat production and realize its food and nothing wrong with it. All the people I know eat meat.
@lovebigboobs29 The animals you are eating--which, in certain countries, would include my dog--have a different opinion.
But if you have no respect for sentient life, or regard for suffering--because, whether or not they can "think" in the same way we do, no one disputes that animals DO suffer horribly as they're slaughtered to become your food--then, well, there's no cure for that.
(Most serial killers began by, & enjoyed, making animals suffer. So you're in good company.)
@TheNolo73 Nutrients as well as essential amino acids. Most of us meat eaters don't need suppliments like you vegans do in your so-called natural diet. ROFL. natural is eating both meat and plants. Not plants and suppliments.
@lovebigboobs29 Hey don't bother with Bigboob here. He goes to all the pro vegan videos and has fun trolling them. I think he's a vegan himself really. Every time he trolls, a whole bunch of pro vegan comments flood the video that are smarter than his responses so he actually helps us out. Thank you Big boob!
@TheNolo73 I am in no way vegan. No, the vegan responses are pretty dumb ass to my comments. Vegans think they know what the body needs when they don't know shit about nutrition. Thats why there will always be more of us smarter people "Omnivores" in this world then vegans. Vegans are too damn emotional. Its just food no need to cry over the dumbass animals.
No surprise...sociopaths and those without the capacity for empathy often laugh at suffering. ;-)
P.S.: (Alas, I don't think you're remotely in the running to be a serial killer, though: they often have *above* average IQ. Your inability to follow a simple chain of inductive reasoning suggests that you're just a regular ol' garden variety asshole.) :-)
@lovebigboobs29 Well, I should hope not...I mean, you must have grown quite used to it by this point in your life. :-)
P.S. Someone as intelligent as you must know about the well-known Dunning–Kruger effect. Which, in turn, might give someone intelligent pause before boasting about how intelligent they are.
But enough delightful repartee...surely there's some scared, wide-eyed animal out there you'd like to torture, kill, and turn into food? Time's a-wasting! Off you go!
@gnimelFkacj It seems that being omnivore is natural for you. Please Google `Foodicine'. That should lead you to my site. Then go to the home page and click on the link in the red box. You should see a few videos that will be very natural for you to watch. They should go down a treat. Peace.
I have the glasses on right now and this Jew is laughing at you Goyim in the US right now!! Hell, they've been laughing the whole damn time. Meanwhile, a Jewish bioengineer is going to work at Monsanto, Pioneer, or Dow Chemical to make your life a living hell even more and to shorten your lifespan. Don't eat alfalfa either, its genetically modified too!! They're saying 'Its ok, now go back and watch the new stud on Desperate Housewives or Lady Gaga"!!
The ultra elite have been putting all the crap in the American meat the mainly in the past 15-20 years because they don't think you're entitled to eat these delicacies. Argentinians on average eat more meat in one year than Americans and they aren't obese like Americans are. The difference between Argentina and US is that the ZIONISTS run Amerika!! The first strain of E. Coli was seen in 1982 because of the hormones and antibiotics they first started to use in industrial beef farming. Enjoy goy!
Meat will kill you.....look at teeth, then look at a lions.......completely differnt......look at our teeth and then at ANY other land animal that eats vegitation......we are almost exactly the same.....and not by accident.......man was designed to eat the fruit's of the earth.....not other blood filled animals.........vegan diet FTW.
@Shroter Meat doesn't kill you thats a vegan myth. Meat is not bad for you. We are omnivores and aren't fuckin animals we are humans so who gives a damn what a lion looks like. We were designed to eat meat and plants.
@2zaci2 Chimpanzees are considered carnivorous because they eat insects. There have been rare occasions that Chimps have reverted to cannibalism but that is due to famine or to males fighting over territory.
I love it! Hahahaha. Love the disclaimer at the end "eating meat may cause embarrassment when you try to explain to your kids why some pets are family members where other animals are gruesomely slaughtered and served up as food." So funny. Great clip!
I'm still eating meat, look we are all going to die one day so let me die in peace.
Now if you will excuse me i'm going to go check on the Hamburgers I'm helping me and my mom make. It's going to have ionions, tomatos and maybe some cheese.
Not eating meat has been the best thing I've ever done in my whole life. I'm healthier, lighter, and I have more nutrients in me than ever. Thank you realizations.
Everybody with a brain is going veg, you guys can cry and moan all you want, but in the end, it's not the vegetarians who are to blame. We just opened our eyes before you did.
@BiohazardBunney Well said. I imagine the rate of people becoming vegetarian will increase as more and more become aware of just how bad meat is for everyone and everything.
I love meat but its not the only thing i eat. I dont like if i know how the treat the animal before the are kill. Like foie gras for example i always wanted to try it but after i saw how it was produce i decided not to
I eat meat and love animals. The animals we mainly eat we raise ourselves or get locally. This video is difficult for me to take mainly because it is America's meat industry that is the problem, not all meat in general. Not all Americans have access to good meat and end up having to buy these processed, dangerous foods. These don't seem like the right tactics to help convert people even if they may work.
@JExyTan there's no converting going on, only facts. A plant based diet is extremely cheap, not to mention it has all the nutrients and more. Beans. Grain. Veggies and fruits. There is all this confusing crap about meat--humane, inhumane; food born illness vs cancer causing pathogens, cholesterol and saturated fats, white meat vs dark meat, blah blah blah. Plants are not confusing--you can eat them raw or cooked. And there is MASSIVE amounts of nutrients in them, unlike meat.
@hitssquad I realize this wasn't addressed to me, but I'll answer anyway. I spend about $20-$25 on food for myself per week. B12) Most omni's are also deficient. Everyone should take a supplement. A) Carrots, tons of other veggies. D) Your body produces it naturally with as little as 15 minutes of sunlight a day.
Most omni's eat mainly grain and sugar. Does it stand to reason that our 80+% meateater (by calorie) ancestors (as far as we can tell from the study of 229 recent primitive groups by Loren Cordain) were B12 deficient?
.
"A) Carrots"
No plant food contains Vitamin A: paleozonenutrition. wordpress. com/2011/03/05/30-bananas-a-day-durianrider-an-analysis-of-his-paleo-vegan-diet "No, you can’t. I found out by accident that I was short on retinol."
Not enough: paleozonenutrition. wordpress. com/2011/03/01/much-higher-vitamin-d-intake-needed-and-there-is-more-to-sun-than-vit-d "“We found that daily intakes of vitamin D by adults in the range of 4000-8000 IU are needed to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce by about half the risk of several diseases — breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes,” said Cedric Garland, DrPH"
@hitssquad it doesn't really matter what 'study' you are copy pasting that from, that was most likely sent out by government patsies from the beef cattleman's association, the truth is the ADA is on our side. We're healthy. We lower our risk of cancer and diabetes along with taking in proper nutrients. Vegetarianism is not meant to be perfect, but it sure as hell is better for us, the animals, and the earth, than the alternative. So gtfo.
@hitssquad Yep. I don't care what you say, you're not spewing these 'facts' to get any of us to change, you're just coming up with lame excuses for yourself. To keep justifying your lifestyle. Let me ask you, how is your health? Most of the people who talk shit to vegetarians, and keep this 'evolution to meat' crap are usually overweight or have health issues. what we did as cavemen doesnt effect modern man. cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes.
@BiohazardBunney "cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes."
That's right -- and not only were none of them vegan, but about a third had diets consisting either exclusively or almost exclusively of meat and animal fat. This makes sense, given that animal fat doesn't cause insulin to be released into the blood stream and therefore can't cause heart disease or diabetes.
@hitssquad My point is not that we CANT eat meat, of course we can, but we dont need it. We just want it. It's being forced on us, and we think we have a choice but we dont. Gorillas and chimpanzees are herbivores, but they can eat meat. What we did as cavemen does not mean we have to keep doing it, we have freedom to make educated choices, those who dont, dont want to put the effort into it, and will use every excuse in the book not to. I, as well as millions, billions of vegetarians, prove it.
That wasn't contested. It was pointed out to you that first you claimed that "Vegetarianism [...] is better for us [than eating what we evolved to eat]" and then contradicted yourself by pointing out that "cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes."
How does pointing out that meat-and-animal-fat-eating cavemen didn't suffer from modern degenerative diseases support your claim that "Vegetarianism [...] is better for us"?
@hitssquad That claim was made 3 weeks ago--this is not a proper debate system, it's over the internet. I'm not a professional debater, my opinions have evolved. My current argument is above. Vegetarianism has been beneficial for those suffering from obesity and diabetes, and other lifestyle related illnesses, not to mention that you lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc by not consuming high saturated fat and carcinogen rich meats. It's not necessary.
@hitssquad btw can I ask, who are you trying to convince? Are you using every random argument in the book to convince ME of something I already know isnt true, or yourself? Are you viewing me, and all other vegetarians, as the enemy because we are doing something you dont want to do, out of stubbornness? Think about that. It's not the vegetarians fault that you need to fight and feel uncomfortable.
You didn't evolve to eat a slab of meat filled with hormones and antibiotics, a slab of meat that was sliced off of the carcass of a creature that lived its life in confinement with no room to turn around, graze, nurse their own children and enjoy life. Human beings are opportunistic omnivores, meaning we DO NOT NEED meat in our diet but we can consume it in small amounts. We have carbohydrate digestive enzymes in our saliva: Something only HERBIVORES possess.
When you inject hormones and antibiotics into an animal, you are adding unnatural elements into their body. There is a difference between actual hormones and hormones that are injected to make animals meatier/produce more milk. And what does hunting and gathering have to do with not needing meat? A human body does not need meat, just look up the 108 year old vegan here on youtube for proof or ask a vegan. Gladiators were vegetarians for godsake, so are all the longest living animals.
@LegendxWind "When you inject hormones and antibiotics into an animal, you are adding unnatural elements into their body."
And? Does eating those animals hurt people? Why are there no studies showing it hurts people, and myriad studies showing it doesn't hurt people?
.
"what does hunting and gathering have to do with not needing meat?"
You mentioned evolution. Humans evolved as hunter-gatherers. You don't consider it an amazing coincidence that no known hunter-gatherer groups are vegan?
Yes, it does. Eating those animals has lead to heart disease rates of over 1/3 of the North American population, cancer, hormonal imbalances in both men and women, and many other ailments. Human beings were vegan when we were Austrilopithicus, when our cerebral cortex expanded and we began to scavenge food and mimic predatory behavior and hunt in groups, then we became hunters and gatherings. The hunter gatherer diet relied on 65% of their calories from plant sources and 35 from meat
@LegendxWind "The hunter gatherer diet relied on 65% of their calories from plant sources and 35 from meat"
Are you calling shellfish "plant sources"?
.
"Eating those animals has lead to heart disease rates of over 1/3 of the North American population, cancer, hormonal imbalances in both men and women, and many other ailments."
So, why have heart-disease rates risen as Americans have applied your dietary advice? Shouldn't they have dropped instead?
@LegendxWind "I'm saying that excess meat consumption is the leading cause of heart disease in America."
I thought you said it was the "hormones and antibiotics" in the meat that was causing heart disease and cancer. That wasn't what you said? Are you sure?
No, I'm calling plant sources plant sources. One of the most prestigious researchers on H&G societies has estimated that ratio. Americans haven't applied my dietary advice, the consumption of meat has double since 1950, and with the demand higher, now 99% of meat and dairy and eggs come from factory farms, the kind that have no qualms with using hormones and confinement measures as tools to mass produce dead bodies for the public. Vegans have lower cancer and heart disease rates.
@LegendxWind "now 99% of meat and dairy and eggs come from factory farms, the kind that have no qualms with using hormones"
They use hormones in pork and poultry? Are you sure?: meatpoultrynutrition. org/ht/d/Faqs/pid/26093 "Federal law does NOT permit the use of added hormones in poultry or swine (pigs and hogs)."
.
"I'm calling plant sources plant sources."
No, you are calling animal sources plant sources: beyondveg. com/billings-t/comp-anat/comp-anat-9d. shtml
"Richard Lee did some of the influential early (and still well-regarded) anthropological work studying the !Kung. (See Lee [1979] for a report of his anthropological observations.) However, it is not just the diet of the !Kung San or related Bushmen that may be the source of the widespread (erroneous) "mostly gatherer" view of pre-agricultural people, but perhaps also a hunter-gatherer survey of Lee [1968]. The survey of Lee did claim that hunter-gatherers gathered more than they hunted.
"The flaws in Lee's survey interpretation are as follows:
• He reclassified shellfish-collecting as gathering, rather than hunting.
• He (arbitrarily) excluded many North American hunter-gatherer tribes from the survey (which was based on the Ethnographic Atlas [Murdock 1967]). The result of this was, as described by Ember [1978], to arbitrarily increase the importance of gathering in the survey."
Human beings are not efficient hunters, it is more than obvious that at a time when weapons were crude, meat did not make up a large part of our diet. Hunter-gatherers did and do inhabit a huge range of environments and likewise their diets cover a wide range. Some do follow the 65/35% number. Some eat much more meat. Some eat much less, but the 65/35 number is the most credible given the stage of human develope we are looking at.
Yes, I'm sure. There is a reason why American Beef is banned in Europe: Because the hormones used are illegal to inject into livestock in Europe. Atleast they have some sense. Chickens are given estrogen so they produce more eggs, and cattle and pigs are given growth hormone to they can be killed quicker. As I said before, 65% of the H&G diet was plant, 35% was meat(including seafood). I'll stick with the researcher who is highly acclaimed, thanks.
@LegendxWind "Yes, I'm sure [they use hormones in pork and poultry]. There is a reason why American Beef is banned in Europe"
You're saying you don't understand that there's a difference between beef on the one hand and pork and poultry on the other? You don't know what the word "pork" means? You don't know what the word "poultry" means?
.
"Chickens are given estrogen so they produce more eggs, and cattle and pigs are given growth hormone"
No, I'm saying no meat product is exempt from hormone injection. The meat industry needs to pump out as much meat as soon as possible, growth hormone is common because it allows the animal to reach a bigger size in a smaller amount of time. If hormone injections aren't given to chickens or pigs 48 prior to slaughter, they do not show up in tests. Cattles are given specific growth hormones that were banned for use on chickens because they were proven to cause cancer.
@LegendxWind "If hormone injections aren't given to chickens or pigs 48 prior to slaughter, they do not show up in tests."
Does the USDA know that chickens and pigs are being administered hormone injections? Are there any articles in the medical literature on these pig-and-chicken hormone injections?
Did you not read what I typed? That pretty much explains it. The hormones are only half the problem, all of the antibiotics administered to ALL livestock have led to vaccine resistant diseases and bacteria and have produced animal borne diseases like H1N1 And The Bird Flu because of the squallid conditions the animals are forced to wallow in, and the antibiotics they are pumped with to keep them from expiring before the meat producers want them to.
@LegendxWind "The hormones are only half the problem"
Why are you dodging the questions?: "So Dr. Christopher Raines of Pennsylvania State University is lying?" "...And Dr. Deb VanOverbeke of Oklahoma State University is lying?"
.
"If hormone injections aren't given to chickens or pigs 48 prior to slaughter, they do not show up in tests."
How large is this conspiracy you're proposing? How many research-scientists are involved?
We aren't just talking about heart disease and cancer, we're talking about the detrimental effects of excess meat consumption on the human body. Do you have anything to contribute to this conversation besides asking questions that a toddler could answer? Drug resistance virus= drugs given to human beings might not be as effective and might not have an effect at all thanks to the drug resistant virus's they have consumed through corpse munching.
@LegendxWind "we're talking about the detrimental effects of excess meat consumption on the human body."
Yes. That's partly why I questioned your mentioning of H1N1. Does individually choosing to be a vegetarian protect you from H1N1?
.
"Drug resistance virus"
There is no such thing as an antibiotic-resistant virus. Viruses, by their very nature, can't be affected by antibiotics. No antibiotic administered to an animal you ate could affect the efficacy of antiviral vaccines administered to you.
@hitssquad If it wasn't for people who ate pork, H1N1 wouldn't exist, therefore being a vegetarian would have protected people from a disease they created. And yes, there is such a thing. You need to do a little more research before you make stupid statements.
@LegendxWind "being a vegetarian would have protected people from a disease they [otherwise might have] created."
Not individually. Is that your way of admitting you can't think of any health reasons why people shouldn't choose -- as individuals -- to eat meat? 2 million Americans die every year of cancer and heart disease -- and that *is* due to individual dietary choice.
.
"there is such a thing [as an antibiotic-resistant virus].
I'm not talking about individuals, as I have stated before. I am talking about how excess meat consumption is bad for the body. How many fucking times do I need to repeat myself? If people didn't eat meat, those diseases would not exist. The NDM Virus is antibiotic resistant, and this is a direct quote from a website about antibiotic resistant viruses: MRSA and variations of staph infections have become increasingly resistant to all known antibiotics. Bacteria can also be resistant
@LegendxWind "The NDM Virus is antibiotic resistant"
NDM-1 isn't a virus. It's an enzyme: hallicino. hubpages. com/hub/Top-10-Most-Frequently-Asked-Questions-About-The-NDM-1-Superbug "Is NDM-1 A Bacteria Or A Virus?
NDM-1 is neither. It is an enzyme which can be found inside various bacteria. The most significant bacteriums which have been located so far containing the NDM-1 enzyme are E. coli and Klebsiella pneumonia. Both are extremely widespread bacteria which have been proven to be fatal."
@LegendxWind "If people didn't eat meat, those [human-to-human contagious] diseases would not exist."
But you admit those human-to-human contagious diseases exist, despite there being vegetarians on the planet. This contradicts your claim that "being a vegetarian would have protected people". There *are* vegetarians, and it didn't protect them from being victims of pandemics.
@LegendxWind "[Does eating those animals hurt people?] Yes, it does. Eating those animals has lead to heart disease rates of over 1/3 of the North American population, cancer [...] I'm not talking about individuals"
You're not talking about individuals? So, you mean, when millions of other people eat meat, it causes me to be at greater risk of heart disease and cancer -- even if I myself don't eat meat -- the same way I might be at increased risk of H1N1 because of other people eating meat?
Actually, you are: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/ Pandemic#H5N1_.28Avian_Flu.29 " Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), gave a statement on 11 June 2009 confirming that the H1N1 strain was indeed a pandemic"
.

Please stop raping me: nononsenseselfdefense. com/profile. html "2) Belittling behavior or attitudes towards others"
HIV is an antibiotic resistant virus."Taking antibiotics for viral infections can increase the chance of an antibiotic-resistant infection later." Thats from Minnesota Antibiotic Resistance Collaborative Web Site
@LegendxWind "HIV is an antibiotic resistant virus."
No, because antibiotics don't affect viruses. Calling a given virus "antibiotic resistant" implies there are viruses that *are* affected by antibiotics. As the Minnesota Antibiotic Resistance Collaborative Web Site explains, that isn't the case: minnesotaarc. org/ill/vvb. html "Antibiotics cannot kill viruses. Antibiotics will not help a viral infection or stop the spread of a viral infection to others."
@LegendxWind The reasons minnesotaarc advises people against taking antibiotics for viruses are that some people don't know that antibiotics don't affects viruses, and some people don't know the difference between a viral infection and a bacterial infection. As they say: "Do you ever wonder what is causing your illness? It could be a virus or a bacteria... and the differences are important."
You digress. My point still stands that excess meat consumption is bad for human beings, and that because of factory farms, diseases like H1N1, avian flu and mad cow have killed thousands of people in avoidable ways.
Fuck all you liberal fags, I'm going to keep driving my lifted f-250 super duty turbo diesel that gets 11 mpg and eat my steak and bacon!! Boo fuckity hoo, we're killing animals and eating them... isn't that what the rest of the world does? You fucking hipster douches.
@eviltwinize How about treating the animals well and respecting them by not eating them?? Pretty simple. A plant based (vegan) diet is better for human health, gentler to the environment, and kinder to animals.
@eviltwinize humans are not part of any natural cycle though. Food chain implies carnivorous tendencies, when humans are not carnivores. Lions don't breed gazelles. They also don't get heart disease from meat. We do. Have you ever considered that the term 'omnivore' is actually a facade, and humans may in fact be herbivores? Besides, treating the animal humanely doesn't work. thousands are killed every day, 10 billion every year, with complete disregard for them as conscious creatures.
Remember kiddos, animals still eat each other because they don't have opposable thumbs and thus never invented the supermarket.
Humans still eat meat because making the next iPhone is more important than finding a non-meat substitute, or finding the cure for cancer, or creating clean energy, or educating citizens of 3rd world countries... etc.
@MrRichardATrice "Remember kiddos, animals still eat each other because they don't have opposable thumbs and thus never invented the supermarket." >> Implying that gorillas, orangutans, chimps, lemurs, gibbons, koalas, possums, pandas, some frogs and some dinosaurs, and all the other animals on the planet with opposable thumbs also have supermarkets? Solid lesson, Mr. Logic!
If some are unaware, meat is already unhealthy regardless of the antibiotics and hormones, - it's made of animal protein, saturated fat and cholesterol, all of which contribute to heart disease and cancer.
@chrisnoaro1 And if anyone bothers to read The China Study, rather than Wikipedia, they might learn that science has proven, without a doubt, that a vegan lifestyle will help prevent and in some cases, reverse heart disease, diabetes Type 1, cancer and inflammatory diseases like arthritis. But as our governments are lobbied by big beef, big dairy and our pharma companies profits run from illness, we are never going to hear about it, unless we do our own research! Shocking.
@Cteeal .....if you only eat vegetables you can't get all the nutrients your body needs. THats why vegitarians all take supplements. With an ideal diet you don't need suppliments. It's not beef that causes all those diseases. It's too many carbs. Stand in line at any walmart checkout and you'll see obese people with carts full of high carb junk food
@Andreas748 You don't JUST eat vegetable... you eat beans, soy, sweet potatoes.. on and on. Read "thrive" a vegan book which educates you about vegan diets. Vegetarians don't take supplements... I never have taken supplements. Where do you get your information? You obviously are misinformed... I'm 51 yrs. old, eat LOT OF CARBS (just healthy ones) and weigh 120 lbs. Same size my whole life. I have never been healthier.... it's the JUNK FOOD these knuckleheads buy at WalMart, not just carbs
@Andreas748 Sorry Andreas but you are so wrong. I actually eat a 100% plant based diet. I've gone from being an anemic meat eater, and anemic vegetarian, and on supplements, to a vegan without supplements. And aside from no longer needing supplements, I'm no longer anemic. As for carbs, are you insane? Complex carbohydrates are what keep you alive. They are the main source of usable energy for the body, and the brain. This carbohydrate thing is insane. And your argument is flawed.
@Cteeal .........there are people like the Inuits who consume almost no carbs and are healthy. I myself can't benefit from being a vegitarian only. I would if I could....but it's impossible. I think low carb is the most healthy way to live, but if you found a way to make vegitarian work for you, that's great. I tried and couldn't do it. I need more than avocados to get my protein and fat!
@Andreas748 But ask yourself Andreas how long inuits live for. They have a very different lifestyle to us. Just remember the enslavement, and cruelty endured to every animal you consume. I don't eat avocados day in and out. In fact, I've never eaten better in my life. I eat lasagne, spaghetti, roasts, burgers, shepherds pies, burritos, stir fries, soups, cakes, chocolate, a zllion pasta dishes, cheescakes, the list goes on. They're all vegan and they taste better than the crueller versions.
@Cteeal ..well it sounds like you have it figured out. But all the pasta and bread would kill me. Just be careful of the trans-fats. They cause major problems. If your blood pressure is normal and your other indicators are good (low tryglyicerides, etc) then you'll likely live to be old and healthy. Don't forget blueberries and almonds. They're superfoods! :)
@Andreas748 Andreas. Plant-based diets don't contain trans fats. Trans fats exist in animal foods, as does LDL cholesterol. Those things aren't in vegan diets unless you eat a lot of oil. So vegans generally have no problems with cholesterol etc. Infact meat eaters experience I:2 cancer rates whereas vegans are 1:25. As for almonds and blueberries, well aside from the antioxidants and calcium, yes they are superfoods, as are all the other things we eat like sweet potatoes and sesame seeds.
@Andreas748 Vegan diets are loaded with super foods like these. As for not eating bread and pasta, my wheat/and or gluten intolerant vegan friends are doing just fine and they eat just as much as I do.
I saw this video a while ago. Decided to ask my doctor about eating meat when I visited him today. He said it was fine as long as it wasn't in excess.

@SuperMatthewspencer It's not about forcing opinions but raising awareness as to what an impact the choice to eat meat makes. Clearly, eating meat doesn't only affect the person eating meat, so it is not as simple as "to each their own".

Just because you can eat meat, doesn't mean you should. Primates, our closest DNA relatives, are frugivores. They eat mostly fruit, 80% of their diet is fruit. We can eat paper, nails, fabric, but it isn't good for us.

JExyTan 8 months ago
@JExyTan there's no converting going on, only facts. A plant based diet is extremely cheap, not to mention it has all the nutrients and more. Beans. Grain. Veggies and fruits. There is all this confusing crap about meat--humane, inhumane; food born illness vs cancer causing pathogens, cholesterol and saturated fats, white meat vs dark meat, blah blah blah. Plants are not confusing--you can eat them raw or cooked. And there is MASSIVE amounts of nutrients in them, unlike meat.

B12? Vitamin A? Vitamin D?
hitssquad 8 months ago
@hitssquad I realize this wasn't addressed to me, but I'll answer anyway. I spend about $20-$25 on food for myself per week. B12) Most omni's are also deficient. Everyone should take a supplement. A) Carrots, tons of other veggies. D) Your body produces it naturally with as little as 15 minutes of sunlight a day.
obankobi 7 months ago
@obankobi "B12) Most omni's are also deficient."
Most omni's eat mainly grain and sugar. Does it stand to reason that our 80+% meateater (by calorie) ancestors (as far as we can tell from the study of 229 recent primitive groups by Loren Cordain) were B12 deficient?
.

So gtfo.
BiohazardBunney 7 months ago
@BiohazardBunney "Vegetarianism is not meant to be perfect, but it sure as hell is better for us"
It's better for us than eating what we evolved to eat?
hitssquad 7 months ago
@hitssquad Yep. I don't care what you say, you're not spewing these 'facts' to get any of us to change, you're just coming up with lame excuses for yourself. To keep justifying your lifestyle. Let me ask you, how is your health? Most of the people who talk shit to vegetarians, and keep this 'evolution to meat' crap are usually overweight or have health issues. what we did as cavemen doesnt effect modern man. cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes.
BiohazardBunney 7 months ago
@BiohazardBunney "cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes."
That's right -- and not only were none of them vegan, but about a third had diets consisting either exclusively or almost exclusively of meat and animal fat. This makes sense, given that animal fat doesn't cause insulin to be released into the blood stream and therefore can't cause heart disease or diabetes.
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad My point is not that we CANT eat meat, of course we can, but we dont need it. We just want it. It's being forced on us, and we think we have a choice but we dont. Gorillas and chimpanzees are herbivores, but they can eat meat. What we did as cavemen does not mean we have to keep doing it, we have freedom to make educated choices, those who dont, dont want to put the effort into it, and will use every excuse in the book not to. I, as well as millions, billions of vegetarians, prove it.
BiohazardBunney 6 months ago
@BiohazardBunney "My point is not that we CANT eat meat"
That wasn't contested. It was pointed out to you that first you claimed that "Vegetarianism [...] is better for us [than eating what we evolved to eat]" and then contradicted yourself by pointing out that "cavemen weren't obese, didnt have heart disease or diabetes."
How does pointing out that meat-and-animal-fat-eating cavemen didn't suffer from modern degenerative diseases support your claim that "Vegetarianism [...] is better for us"?
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad That claim was made 3 weeks ago--this is not a proper debate system, it's over the internet. I'm not a professional debater, my opinions have evolved. My current argument is above. Vegetarianism has been beneficial for those suffering from obesity and diabetes, and other lifestyle related illnesses, not to mention that you lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc by not consuming high saturated fat and carcinogen rich meats. It's not necessary.
BiohazardBunney 6 months ago
@hitssquad btw can I ask, who are you trying to convince? Are you using every random argument in the book to convince ME of something I already know isnt true, or yourself? Are you viewing me, and all other vegetarians, as the enemy because we are doing something you dont want to do, out of stubbornness? Think about that. It's not the vegetarians fault that you need to fight and feel uncomfortable.
BiohazardBunney 6 months ago
@hitssquad
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "You didn't evolve to eat a slab of meat filled with hormones"
Actually, we did. What animal or plant doesn't contain hormones?: meatpoultrynutrition. org/ht/d/Faqs/pid/26093

"we DO NOT NEED meat in our diet"
Why are there no known hunter-gatherer groups that were vegan?
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "When you inject hormones and antibiotics into an animal, you are adding unnatural elements into their body."
And? Does eating those animals hurt people? Why are there no studies showing it hurts people, and myriad studies showing it doesn't hurt people?
.
"what does hunting and gathering have to do with not needing meat?"
You mentioned evolution. Humans evolved as hunter-gatherers. You don't consider it an amazing coincidence that no known hunter-gatherer groups are vegan?
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad

The survey of Lee did claim that hunter-gatherers gathered more than they hunted.
hitssquad 6 months ago
"The flaws in Lee's survey interpretation are as follows:
• He reclassified shellfish-collecting as gathering, rather than hunting.
• He (arbitrarily) excluded many North American hunter-gatherer tribes from the survey (which was based on the Ethnographic Atlas [Murdock 1967]). The result of this was, as described by Ember [1978], to arbitrarily increase the importance of gathering in the survey."
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@hitssquad
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "Yes, I'm sure [they use hormones in pork and poultry]. There is a reason why American Beef is banned in Europe"
You're saying you don't understand that there's a difference between beef on the one hand and pork and poultry on the other? You don't know what the word "pork" means? You don't know what the word "poultry" means?
.
"Chickens are given estrogen so they produce more eggs, and cattle and pigs are given growth hormone"
Does the USDA say that? Does any scientist?
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad

LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "being a vegetarian would have protected people from a disease they [otherwise might have] created."
Not individually. Is that your way of admitting you can't think of any health reasons why people shouldn't choose -- as individuals -- to eat meat? 2 million Americans die every year of cancer and heart disease -- and that *is* due to individual dietary choice.

Have you read this?: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/ Tragedy_of_the_commons
When a given cost is external, it isn't rational to spend resources internally to reduce that cost.

@hitssquad
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "variations of staph infections have become increasingly resistant to all known antibiotics."
Staph isn't a virus. It's a bacteria: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Staphylococcal_infection "Staphylococcus is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria"
.
"MRSA [...] [has] become increasingly resistant to all known antibiotics."
MRSA isn't a virus. It's a bacteria: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/MRSA "Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium"

HIV is an antibiotic resistant virus."Taking antibiotics for viral infections can increase the chance of an antibiotic-resistant infection later." Thats from Minnesota Antibiotic Resistance Collaborative Web Site
LegendxWind 6 months ago
@LegendxWind "HIV is an antibiotic resistant virus."
No, because antibiotics don't affect viruses. Calling a given virus "antibiotic resistant" implies there are viruses that *are* affected by antibiotics. As the Minnesota Antibiotic Resistance Collaborative Web Site explains, that isn't the case: minnesotaarc. org/ill/vvb. html "Antibiotics cannot kill viruses. Antibiotics will not help a viral infection or stop the spread of a viral infection to others."
hitssquad 6 months ago
@LegendxWind The reasons minnesotaarc advises people against taking antibiotics for viruses are that some people don't know that antibiotics don't affects viruses, and some people don't know the difference between a viral infection and a bacterial infection. As they say: "Do you ever wonder what is causing your illness? It could be a virus or a bacteria... and the differences are important."
hitssquad 6 months ago
@hitssquad

VeganLight 8 months ago 10
@eviltwinize humans are not part of any natural cycle though. Food chain implies carnivorous tendencies, when humans are not carnivores. Lions don't breed gazelles. They also don't get heart disease from meat. We do. Have you ever considered that the term 'omnivore' is actually a facade, and humans may in fact be herbivores? Besides, treating the animal humanely doesn't work. thousands are killed every day, 10 billion every year, with complete disregard for them as conscious creatures.
batcountryrabid 8 months ago
@eviltwinize Meat stores no nutrients....Plus Gladiators never ate meat! In fact they were vegans!

Remember kiddos, animals still eat each other because they don't have opposable thumbs and thus never invented the supermarket.
Humans still eat meat because making the next iPhone is more important than finding a non-meat substitute, or finding the cure for cancer, or creating clean energy, or educating citizens of 3rd world countries... etc.

If some are unaware, meat is already unhealthy regardless of the antibiotics and hormones, - it's made of animal protein, saturated fat and cholesterol, all of which contribute to heart disease and cancer.

TheArtistNinja 7 months ago
@chrisnoaro1 And if anyone bothers to read The China Study, rather than Wikipedia, they might learn that science has proven, without a doubt, that a vegan lifestyle will help prevent and in some cases, reverse heart disease, diabetes Type 1, cancer and inflammatory diseases like arthritis. But as our governments are lobbied by big beef, big dairy and our pharma companies profits run from illness, we are never going to hear about it, unless we do our own research! Shocking.
Cteeal 6 months ago
@Cteeal .....if you only eat vegetables you can't get all the nutrients your body needs. THats why vegitarians all take supplements. With an ideal diet you don't need suppliments. It's not beef that causes all those diseases. It's too many carbs. Stand in line at any walmart checkout and you'll see obese people with carts full of high carb junk food
Andreas748 5 months ago
@Andreas748 You don't JUST eat vegetable... you eat beans, soy, sweet potatoes.. on and on. Read "thrive" a vegan book which educates you about vegan diets. Vegetarians don't take supplements... I never have taken supplements. Where do you get your information? You obviously are misinformed... I'm 51 yrs. old, eat LOT OF CARBS (just healthy ones) and weigh 120 lbs. Same size my whole life. I have never been healthier.... it's the JUNK FOOD these knuckleheads buy at WalMart, not just carbs

Cteeal 3 months ago
@Cteeal .........there are people like the Inuits who consume almost no carbs and are healthy. I myself can't benefit from being a vegitarian only. I would if I could....but it's impossible. I think low carb is the most healthy way to live, but if you found a way to make vegitarian work for you, that's great. I tried and couldn't do it. I need more than avocados to get my protein and fat!
Andreas748 3 months ago
@Andreas748 But ask yourself Andreas how long inuits live for. They have a very different lifestyle to us. Just remember the enslavement, and cruelty endured to every animal you consume. I don't eat avocados day in and out. In fact, I've never eaten better in my life. I eat lasagne, spaghetti, roasts, burgers, shepherds pies, burritos, stir fries, soups, cakes, chocolate, a zllion pasta dishes, cheescakes, the list goes on. They're all vegan and they taste better than the crueller versions.
Cteeal 3 months ago
@Cteeal ..well it sounds like you have it figured out. But all the pasta and bread would kill me. Just be careful of the trans-fats. They cause major problems. If your blood pressure is normal and your other indicators are good (low tryglyicerides, etc) then you'll likely live to be old and healthy. Don't forget blueberries and almonds. They're superfoods! :)
Andreas748 3 months ago
@Andreas748 Andreas. Plant-based diets don't contain trans fats. Trans fats exist in animal foods, as does LDL cholesterol. Those things aren't in vegan diets unless you eat a lot of oil. So vegans generally have no problems with cholesterol etc. Infact meat eaters experience I:2 cancer rates whereas vegans are 1:25. As for almonds and blueberries, well aside from the antioxidants and calcium, yes they are superfoods, as are all the other things we eat like sweet potatoes and sesame seeds.
Cteeal 3 months ago
@Andreas748 Vegan diets are loaded with super foods like these. As for not eating bread and pasta, my wheat/and or gluten intolerant vegan friends are doing just fine and they eat just as much as I do.
