An additional tip that is often neglected, and admittedly impossible with some of the newer cameras is one of the simplest and oldest. The most common practice with a digital snapshit camera is to hold it at arms length. This is the most unstable position possible. By simply locking your arms to your side and using the viewfinder you will probably give yourself one or two stops worth of stability.

Creative ideas indeed. I like the bottle tripod. Just need to carry around some #20 bolts when traveling. You should get the MacGyver of video award!
