Lovely recipe...unfortunately this bread was nothing like the bread that has been part of our Easter tradition since I can remember. The bread I am used to is not nearly as dense and has more eggs in it as I discovered after finally finding a recipe similar to one my Ukrainian grandmother used.

Thank you. My Ukrainian grandma always made paska for Easter. I want to make a traditional Ukrainian Easter dinner but I have never made paska. I'll definitely try this recipe, but not until Holy Thursday. ;)

I have made this twice without the eggs. I didn't know it had the egg option. I made a glaze that went ontop that was really good. Anyway its NOT that complicated. Sorry i've only been teaching myself to bake for about a year now and I made this twice. Once with the bread machine doing all the work was obviously the most simple option. The second one I did by hand which takes alot of muscle work but other then that is NOT hard.

I was really surprised to see this among Howcast's vids, because we make braided Easter bread (Pascha) every year in my family.. and just because they say it's easy doesn't mean it actually is! Ours is close but has golden raisins and is bigger-- and traditionally you need 5 eggs, dyed red-- one for each wound of Christ. But it's nice to see the tradition get put out to a wider audience!

She asked from the Roman guards to allow to feed Him, but they only gave him water. She left the basket on his feet, and as the blood dropped from His wounds, it stained the eggs red. It is a tradition to bake this bread to symbolize this. with the red eggs on it.
