I respect your right to prefer Abyss to Vesperia (I've met others who do), but Vesperia is FAR superior to Dawn of the New World and Vesperia is NOT shit.
I prefer both Vesperia and the first Symphonia to Abyss. Abyss is still one of my top three Tales games though.
Yea you're right, thanks for responding politely. Dawn of the New World really isn't that good at all. And Vesperia isn't shit ( I can't wait for the ps3 version with added features ). But somehow Abyss stuck to me alot more. And the first Symphonia was really good because I think, for many, it was the first "big" tales game that people have ever played.

The problem with DotNW to me was that the storyline near the end felt rushed and that the original cast couldn't get past lv 50. It could have been great but it sadly fell short.
yea DotNW had lots of faults but it wasn't all bad. I had my fun during the first playthrough, the latter ones were boring though, compared to the latter ones of the other Tales games.
yea the lack of the overworld was surprising at first, but it made side quests easier to accomplish compared to the side quests in Symphonia, like going on certain spots for certain items and stuff, those were a bit too much for me ( not obvious and tedious work ). DotNW had the good feature of introducing monsters and stuff, that was unique itself, but they could have worked on it a bit more ( make us able to control a monster , and better AI too )
I personally love overworlds, it makes the game really feel like another world.
To each their own though.
I agree about the monsters though, the big problem with mine was that they burnt away their TP way too quickly.
Not to mention if all of your human characters died, you would get a game over, even if there were monsters still alive on the field. I feel that you should only get a game over if everyone on the field dies.
Yes I agree. They should make one like Tales of the World but on a console ( with better graphics and all ) , plus make it online, with some aspects of all tales games together. That would make a good game imo

No, you can't control the monster you catch. They're CPU controlled and only that. Monsters join your team if you deafeat it and the element grid is all of the monster's element. For example, catching a fire attributed monster would require the element grid to be full of fire in order for you to have a chance to have the monster join your team. Also, monsters with on your team with the same element as the monster you catch will have a great chance of having the monster join.

i was about to say the same thing, ToS2 does the Tales series no justice whatsoever. this is so lame, you cant even be the monsters that are fighting with you. bad/bland hi-ougis, boring enemies, awful story AGAIN, not better than its predecessor, nothing like its previous battle system (on top of that, no improvement to the battle sytem its using), NO cameo battle! wow it cant get any worse, ToS2 is certified garbage. :P

That's fully understandable, like I said, I know a lot of people who feel the same way.
Everyone has their own preferences, no game is truly better than any other, every game always has someone who adores it.
Abyss stood out a lot for me too. It is one of the best games I've ever played without a doubt.
Symphonia was the game that got me hooked to the Tales Series. It was an amazing experience when I played it for the first time.

I also enjoyed it, but like I said previously, the ending felt too rushed.
I would be much more likely to replay Symphonia, Abyss or Vesperia than DotNW.
The lack of an overworld also got on my nerves.
