  • 4:50 fuck yes Gil !

  • This band ARE modern rock and roll.

  • His collar is like a mobius strip

  • im not a huge gil sharone fan...the drummer i saw them on warped 2010 was fuckin sick tho, hope they have him still

  • @shinfo002 nope, they got a drummer named Billy Rymer now. He's good tho

  • @buffcode07 If he could level buildings he would have already done it, as he has very little control.

Everyone else seems so precise, except the singer, in my opinion.

  • oh gil....

  • ben weinman complaining about bands becoming corporate and homogenized.

    WELP.

  • @xBillyTheKidx

No shit, right!? (not being sarcastic)

What's up with these fucking PETA ads with them. Goddamnit...

  • @AlbertDCLXVI so sick of this band. haven't liked them since mike patton.

  • Admittedly I have to say that their vocalist is weak, otherwise they are pretty good.

  • @awkwardspeaker Weak?! he could level buildings with that voice!!

  • i usually hate metal, but dillinger escape plan is different . i like em, they're instrumental craft is extremely complex .

  • Whats the song starting at bowt 3:17?

  • @stratocaster1986able Setting fire to Sleeping Giants :D

  • if you dont like dep then go suck a cock

  • @Duhbearz1 what`s wrong with sucking a cock while listening to The Dillinger Escape Plan?

is dick sucking some how a negative thing?

  • @Tryggi hahaha:P

  • just saw these guys live. Insane! best show ever! Love these guys so much.

  • it's a little hard to call it heavy metal when at one time Sammy Hagar was considered heavy metal. I do however like DEP and not Sammy Hagar's music. also, obviously he caught the ear of Patton, considering their album 'Irony Movie' was a collaboration with Mike Patton! Dur Duh Dur!

  • check out "Everyday Anarchy" on youtube

  • I think i've watched every DEP clip on youtube..in some cases multiple times. I think i'm developing a problem.

  • @rnodern It sounds more like you're developing a cure.

  • I like how the clips they used are from the "saner" parts of their songs. They should have shown them at the beginning of Panasonic Youth or something like that and melt Charlie Rose's face off.

  • @DillingerCapone I was always thinking they're called The Dillinger Escape Plan because of Dillinger's (fast robberies and) escapes from the banks.

    Not that important though.

  • @loldongsize John Dillinger had helped conceive a plan for the escape of Pierpont, Clark and six others he had met while previously in prison, most of whom worked in the prison laundry. Dillinger had friends smuggle rifles into their prison cells which they used to escape, killing two guards.

  • Yet another misuse of the word "anarchy." Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.

  • @crazymiles it's not a misuse at all. he's describing how chaotic would be, as in when anarchy is present.

  • @Spacecowboyy

    Anarchy is not chaos.

  • @crazymiles anarchy = world without order = chaos.

  • gil always comes across as such a douchebag haha.

    still, good drummer.

  • Nice

  • Hi. My name's Ricky Bobby. if you dont like The Dillinger Escape Plan, then fuck you.

  • Gil is a GOD!

  • To anyone who bashes Coheed or Dillinger, fuck you you close minded douchebags. Both bands are insanely talented at what they do, and if you don't like their style of music, then just DON'T LISTEN. But don't come to youtube leaving ignorant comments.

  • why does it say "heavy metal band" they are not heavy at all lol

  • @TheDallyLama it's a pretty accurate description for people who are not familiar with their style of music.

i mean, if a 50 year old woman watched this she wouldn't be like "oh it's jazz influenced hardcore" or anything like that.

most people who don't know just hear "heavy metal".

  • Greatest Band Ever

  • that forhead... where in the gym... gah guess I have to figure out. Nevertheless it's a great element of visual persuasion. Überinterview

  • @BattleOfNY gil is hollywood?? who the fuck gave you your information you bitch! he's a real muther fucker and killed in DEP! i saw them 3 times with him playing and it ruled. shut your stupid ass up bitch

  • @funkymunkydrummer thats right man! gils a self taught motherfucker from LA ain't a humbler drummer...

  • @BattleOfNY They didnt get rid of Gil! He left because he had too many other things going on. I love his work with them, I hope he works with them again. They didnt part on bad terms

  • @BattleOfNY he's 100 times more than you'll ever be son. but don't get all bent outta shape about it :P

  • check out ben's fucked up collar

  • lol only noticed that when i read this

  • @TheMawBlasphemy yeah haha i wonder if he did that on purpose?

  • @TheMawBlasphemy Ben's a class act lol.

  • Best interview ever

  • 'the world is a joke.' WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if you dont like dillinger then dont watch them and point your fucking usless opinions on you tube

  • @ahw812u they should change their name there was an amazing band DILLINGER EP with Adam and Dimitri, now there's this band with this singer that can't sing, thinks he can be mike patton, their songwriting is prettty elementary now, i like some stuff, but it's NOT DEP, if you ever saw the REAL band, now they're a scream, sing chorus, scream, blow fireballs, i love the singer doing the patton songs, HA, -- he must be embarrassed

  • @bobethe Get over it.

  • Gil's a fuckin idiot..

  • you are so much smarter

  • Is it just me, or did I see Greg wearing a mayhem shirt? Neverthless, great interwiew!

  • Nah it's a Testament - T-shirt:)

  • Charlie Rose is prettymuch the man for having stuff this diverse on his show.

  • dep rules. coheed sux... that's my opinion. i really don't see how the two bands have anything in common (musically at least), and it's strange how they keep getting compared. i see chris leaving the band as an opportunity to discover some amazing new drummers, gil was really good (saw him play with DEP in detroit and it was by far one of the best shows i have ever seen), and from what i can tell, this new billy guy has some real chops. :P

  • btw i cannot wait for this new DEP album. the bits and pieces i have heard seem very intense. truly cannot wait.

  • Heavy Metal band?

  • Batman you're a little retarded pointless bit of shit and you should take your coheed and barbies fuck off from commenting on a band you know nothing about!!!

  • real talk

  • DEP are brilliant! Ive seen em twice this year, and got to hang out with them back stage, Liam is hilarious, ben is a tripper wearing a duran duran shirt lol, greg is humongos accidently walked in on him changing, he was in these little boxers and seriously he could be a wrestler lol, billy is unreal drummer and i reckon if he gets the spot on the new album he'll suprise a few ;) and jeff is a really cool guy too! Was one of the best nights ever!

  • Well dunno about you...i'm going to listen to some REAL music called meshuggah

  • @hmzen yeah I agree, I think I'M going to listen to some REAL music called Meshuggah as well, then I'll listen to some REAL music called The Dillinger Escape Plan, and at no point will I be a narrow minded little fuck face.

I mean c'mon man, what the fuck is wrong with you?

  • how do you even compare coheed to dillinger. no comparison, dillinger started a movement or was at least at the forefront of it and coheed is a no talent act that appeals to school girls with no real taste. HA

  • i love school girls,

  • Isn't that Chris in the live shots in this video? Doesn't he have on headphones?

  • I like the new drummer. Why would Chris leave this band to play Coheed and Cambria? Money?

  • lol...in what way?.. i think greg could take claudio down pretty easily

  • the guitars kick DEP's ass becuase its not just random noise, and the singer doesnt just scream like an idiot

  • first of all, greg doesnt just scream. and second of all, just because ben's guitar parts are more complex than coheed's doesn't mean its just random noise. c&c doesn't express nearly as much emotion as dep. and certainly don't have as much energy. and definitely couldn't deal with the complexity of the mixed time signatures of the dillinger escape plan. they don't deserve chris, but it was his decision to leave. for money or personal reasons, what have you.

  • i guess thats why youre name is batman

    youre retarded

  • zhahhaa your fucking dumb... dillinger plays this shit for a reason nigger. They are well capable of playing coheed songs... but this is there style and if its not your style then dont fucking listen to it... no need to bash bands..

  • Comment removed

  • cause they didn't get along for a second

  • Why do you cut your hair, get a new car, anything.... people need new things, challanges experiences etc etc. From the start they bothe awesome bands. very different and yet very similar. Claudio is an extremely talanted guy. For him to sing and play guitar the way he does, if your an type of musican. would respect he's skill. The comics, books, other guitaring he does for other bands... ie poisons last tour lol you know what i mean. Tha said i love DEP they are awesome! Best live band.

  • Gil Sharone.." this world's a joke" hahaha wat a legend

  • i knew the guitarist was my favorite. what a badass

  • "The Dillinger Escape Plan {DEP} is a heavy metal rock band"

    :)

  • I never saw chris pennie with headphones on at a show. I guess Gil needs that click track to keep it together.

  • in ear monitors are for fold back not really click track. hes listennig to the band not a click.

i highly doubt a drummer like gil would need a click to play live.

    he is the click

  • Those are not in ear monitors. If they were in ear monitors they would be in his ears. Those are noise canceling headphones. The point of which is to drown out the band so that the drummer can follow the click track.

  • chris always wore headphones for the same songs gil did for the tracks they play to idiot!

  • I Miss Chris.

  • ...at drums ofcourse

  • Gil Sharone is tank haha

  • wah wah wah

  • remind me where i say its a metal?

i said its not heavy metall!

so dont put words in my fact

and you ev got a problem with this fact?

its not a heavy metal ok!!!!

  • you sound like Skwisgaar from Metalocalypse.......

    Ba-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!.........

  • Mathcoreshitscreamjazzfuck! New genre ahoy!

  • i love how they play probably their worst song during the breaks of the interview... But cool to see them on something as big as charlie rose.

  • what song is that i actually really like it lol

  • Setting fire to sleeping giants...Ok on cd but horrible live imo.

  • Thanks chief!

  • Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants, off Miss Machine.

  • damn it ben, fix your collar!!

  • to cool things charlie rose and DEP

  • this alot of things with it !!!! this is more then that .

  • WHAT KIND OF METAL??!?! lol heavy metall??????

  • they are Mathcore ahahahahhah

dont call everything that screams 'metal' dude.

  • Dillinger is a metal band.

  • I think they've got a long way to go yet before becoming a joke. I'd be interested in hearing who else you think is making music in this genre of this calibre. and for the record I'm about twice twice their age.

  • Genres are ambiguous, but there are lots of bands that were doing the hardcore circuit around the same time that didn't sell out nearly as hard as these guys did: Drowningman, Converge, and Coalesce to name a few. Drowningman did some emo stuff (before it was appropriated my Hot Topic), but it never came across as corny to me, unlike the "hits" on the last two Dillinger Records.

Limited space, but current bands not writing pop songs: Cloacal Kiss, The Crinn, Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza.

  • that's right.

  • It's an awful shame what happend to Adam Doll.

  • lol the music on the start is so unfitting to the performance clip right after XD

  • Whats the first song?

  • unpredictability :)

  • i love greg's comment

  • DEP has always reminded me of a more hardcore version of Mr. Bungle.

  • Makes sense that Patton made a record with them then, eh?

  • Uhhh, what? He said the world is a joke, you dumb fuck.

  • why the fuck did they cut gil off? he was about to speak on some real shit. wtf!? typical.

  • anybody know the song at 3:18 ?

  • "setting fire to sleeping giants"

  • Comment removed

  • yeah cause mouth of ghosts is remotley unimpresive right?

    fuck head

  • Gil is the man.

    (Leemanlyness)

  • ...didn't they get a new drummer?

  • Yes they did. Billy Rymer from Kings Park, NY.

I saw them last night and Billy has stepped up to the plate and delivered.

  • Well that's good to hear dude! All of them are so talented.

It's a shame they haven't come around Northeast Ohio in 2 years now :/

  • y'know y'know, y'know well y'know...

  • FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU

I never realized how much he said it until you posted that.

    ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

  • why did finding user name sucks get -2? you think The Dillinger Escape Plan never wrote a hook? Don't be stupid ya'll.

  • they are not really unpredictable at all

  • How so? The first show of theirs I went to, Greg climbed into the rafters ( > 50 feet high) and dive-bombed onto a fan. That was pretty unpredictable.

  • yeah? . . . that is . . . but I thought they were talking about the music I wasn't even really thinking about their stage presence I could care less about stage presence . . .

  • Many of the songs virtually have no set structure. That has changed a bit with their most recent albums, but many of the songs on Ire Works are quite unpredictable.

  • your not thinking

  • Irony?

  • ultra structured music for shaw. compound riffing got ya confused? calculating infinity is a modern masterpeice if you like good metal check out the band revenge its ballistic.. druming is genius much more true metal thou may be you not like less lattin energy. songs about warfare razor wire hell

  • That may be but I'll say to you what I say to anyone else who tries to talk all about the composition of music. If it doesn't sound unpredictable who cares if it is on paper. I mean Rite of Spring has a rythm pattern that's the same everytime you play it but since it's one of the greatest compositional acheivements of all time it still sounds unpredictable. Yes comparing these guys to Stravinsky is unfair but you see my point.

  • Furthermore, they play something similiar to modern hardcore/grindcore blah blah woof woof whatever kids are calling it these days and those two musics that this is obviously drawing from are both (modern hardcore especially) built heavily upon cliches. I'm not saying they aren't good players or writers, I like them a little, but they are anything but predictable because they draw so much on hardcore cliches.

  • Finally, I'd like to compare, take Muddy Waters for example, argueably the aritect of all pop music, he's a blues player and any blues player can improvise (that's the main part of blues and jazz) which is a kin to the "no set structure" that you refer to but nothing that Muddy Waters plays is "unpredictable" because it's based on only a narrow array of possibilities. Muddy Waters is one of my favorite artists ever but the fact still remains as it does with DEP.

  • I was listening to Rite of Spring when I read this. Haha. :D

  • i dont think it was the name dropping that made you seem like a pretentious fuck - you pretentious fuck ;)

  • yeah well any well spoken contrary opinion these days is pretension so whatever

  • Do you mean the symphony or the 80's Emo band?

  • I miss the days when Greg could keep up with his own vocals...

  • fuck any genre, (dimmuburnir2)"they are mathcore" who gives a shit. how about "its fucking awesome MUSIC"

  • Ben looks really ill these days, anyone else think so? Like he's lost a lot of weight.

  • not at all... he's always looked like that. the lighting isnt great in there either. if anything maybe he was tired

  • great quote "we dont have parts like crowd clap here etc , we just go for it"

amazing, i love how unrehersed the sound is, awosme band

  • lol gil

  • thank God there are still real bands out there like the dillinger escape plan.

  • Amen.

  • they are mathcore

  • fuck these phony genres, man.. if they're mathcore, Tool is calculusrock.

  • tool is prgressive

  • somewhat.. good bands don't stick so well to these digusting, faulty genres they have everywhere now.

  • tool is suckrock, actually.

  • ouch...... ;)

  • what the fuck. i hate the whole math thing

  • the whole "math thing" is your own comment. if you dont like dillinger, than keep your comment to your self.

  • i fucking love dillinger and alot of other bands considered 'math' i just hate the phrases mathcore and math metal it makes the music sound as if there is no creativity involved.

  • on the contrary, math implies a certain percentage of excess intelligence and creativity throughout the bands' (which are termed as mathcore bands) process of writing down songs...the fact they complete bitchslap standard time signatures cannot be considered as a lack of creativity

  • I think "math metal" makes it seem uber-creative.

  • "this is anger management" hahaha

  • So true!

  • sharone pretty sounds like a punk nerd. lovely.

  • idiot.

  • Keep underground, and inderpendant music alive. Strong words Ben.

  • Where can I see their interview?
