  • Brilliant reading Duke, and wonderful video to go with it. I remember hearing this on your radio programme 'Better Days' and the words ran riot in my hobo blood. Love it. Thanks for the introduction to Al Purdy too. A poet not to be missed!

  • This is really beautiful, its one of my favorite poems. A friend of mine expatriated in the early 1970s and went to the U. Toronto. he sent me a poetry text he used in a course there which, unsurprisingly, had a a large number of Canadian poets. That's where I learned who Alfred Purdy was. He should be better known outside of Canada. Thanks for posting this.
