It seems like a cool trick but I followed along and replayed the video a few times and I am having trouble getting the correct card from the four/diamond side the six/spade side gets the card but something hates me from the other half of the pack. Any suggestions or help?

To clear doubts I have done everything step by step and have had to stare closely to make sure he was counting six and the chosen card was the seventh or if it was the sixth card and all of those small details.
