  • They are making halo 4, And are planning on 5 and 6.......

  • I'm just gonna get this out there for the idiots who think this is a review. Yathzee is a critic not a reviewer, look up the word in the dictionary boys I'm sure it'll be a learning experience

  • @hkrogers I meant Halo 4 -_-

  • weird review. he complains about the refusal to change up the gameplay, even though the section directly after the dogfight is a zero-G environment which lasts for half the remaining mission. just looking for excuses to bitch.

  • @ydna2 I´m assuming you haven´t seen too many of his videos. He doesn´t review, he intentionally seeks for critique in the games and focuses on explaining them humorously.

I didn´t care when he mocked Bioshock 1 and 2 or Mass Effect 2. Just accept it´s all in good fun and move on.

  • @Greil9 nah, I've been watching the videos since 2007. I had only watched this one once and now I remember why. It seems once yahtzee decides he doesn't like a franchise, there's no changing it.

  • B-bu-.......but they are able to do that cause they have magnetic capable boots......

  • Energy sword nipple fiend

  • @DesuOperator "Robbaz here, king of sweden."

  • Okay lay off, just because halo isn't the ideal campaign game doesn't mean it's bad. You shouldn't rate a video game that you only played one of the 40 some game types. Forge multiplayer firefight, they're all pretty good, just the campaign by itself is going to get repetitive, no shit sherly.

  • @TheDevilstop You clearly haven't watched Zero Punctuation before. Yahtzee has never EVER given a shit about the multiplayer of any game. Also, Halo: Reach's multiplayer IS bad, at least compared to Halo 3.

  • @TheDevilstop

From Yahtzee, if you listen this was actually a some what positive review (Zero Punctuation standards). At the very least He did not hate it, sure he didn't love it either but judging by this he thought it was decent (which is high praise from yahtzee)

  • @legendp2011 Yes I understand and to that other fag who replied, I WATCH HIM MORE THAN YA THINK, but back to what you said he still shouldnt go out doing full reviews of a games campaign and then give a game a rating based off of that. I still respect him and he never does tell a lie, but he should still do a little more indepth look into games sometimes (cough cough bioshock)

  • @legendp2011 also not to spam, but this game was made for its forge/multiplayer expierence. Notice the armor custimization and such. This is put in to improve the multiplayer.

  • @TheDevilstop

But there was still a strong emphasis on single player and (IMO) I think the game can almost stand up on the single player (Although I am including co-op), The multiplayer (especially forge) is great but the singleplayer also had a lot of work put into it. if his Internet is like mine, then there is a lot of drop outs (and 2 year's ago I was on a 80kb/s connection wich made online near impossible) I have since moved house. (and yet he didn't hate it despite $110 price for 6/8hour)

  • actually there will be halo 4

  • Spartans don't need seatbelts. MJOLNIR armor is covered in electromagnets that they use to keep themselves attached to deckplates and holster their weaponry. Notice how the pistols just kinda stick to their thigh armor? That's why.

  • @Spartan043 You are clearly one of the meta-cunts he talks about.

He's a comedic game reviewer, his job is to exploit all those tiny mistakes for laughs, in which only little fanboys like you can feel proud in justifying by showing the world you are clearly enough of a sit at home virgin spending as much time on the internet jerking your gerkhin to how much you pop your two incher into this games back story as you do crying over why no one gives a flying fuck.

  • @RandomGuyLtd But if it's not a mistake, you can't exploit it.

  • @RandomGuyLtd I mean, fuck's sake. It's not like I'm just some random Halo-loving dudebro who drinks PBR and watches football in-between sweaty gaming sessions with his frat buddies. I've been a Halo fan since 1999. I was nine years old back then, and I was expecting Halo to be the next Tribes instead of the next GoldenEye. I've shaken hands with Marty O'Donnell, the guy who composed Halo's fantastic music. I've even got posters signed by over 20 members of the Bungie team.

  • @RandomGuyLtd I've got an entire shelf on my bookcase dedicated to the Halo tie-in novels, and the plastic stuff from the Legendary editions of both Halo 3 and Reach. So, yes, I would consider myself a major Halo fan. Believe me, I resent a good portion of the Halo fanbase too. Back when Halo:CE was released, it wasn't yet taken over by the legions of mouth-breathing idiots who play it now. With Halo 2, that changed, and it became the Madden NFL of shooters.

  • @RandomGuyLtd Thank god for Call of Duty. It's like fly paper, drawing a good portion of the mouth-breathing idiots away from the Halo fanbase and permanently affixing them where they belong.

  • @RandomGuyLtd So, yeah. If you read the books, you'd know that the MJOLNIR armor has electromagnets in the boots. That's why they can walk around in zero-gravity on metal surfaces without floating all over the place. Dead Space uses the same exact concept for its RIGs. You can see Isaac taking very deliberate steps in zero-G environs as if he were trudging through a swamp with gaiters on, because his feet are locked to the floor between each stride.

  • @Spartan043 -you spent way to much time and effort replying to a single comment.

  • @RandomGuyLtd For that matter, he gets his facts wrong. Halo: Reach does not depict the "beginning" of the human-covenant war. The war began in 2525, with the attack on Harvest. The game is set in 2552.

  • @Spartan043 he may get his facts wrong but that doesent mean that he isnt right on other things like the space dogfight and jetpack fight which were rediculosly short and the series has been dug up to ruin the whole story (you can tell i dont have high hopes for halo 4)

  • @Helljumper425 You sir, are an idiot for arguing with a troll.

  • 1:26-1:33 hello halo anniversary

    thats a funny coincidence

  • I always just thought the armor was magnetized, like how your other weapon just sticks on your back, though a magnebutt would be hard for the R&D guys to justify.

  • I cant wait for him to say something about the fact that Halo 4 is being made.

  • Can't wait for Zero Punctuation: Halo 4.

  • @gateship2 well i can't wait for Zero punctuation review of the the trilogy of halo

  • This made me openly say "Fuck you, Microsoft, you twat-raggled, golden-shovel-wielding asshats. Leave Halo where it is and give me some money out of the bottomless wells of cash reserved for your marketing campaign to compensate for the God-knows-how-many dollars I poured into Xbox LIVE only to be called a faggot in Halo 3's matchmaking by a twelve year old football headed adoptee who doesn't know the first thing about sex" In the middle of my fucking writing fiction class.

  • @Helljumper425 you got mad at Microsoft because a twelve year old pwned you on halo?

    You sir, are an idiot.

  • @LookingGlassProject And you sir, should have read more carefully into the rest of my post. I'm mad about the fact that Microsoft is digging a great franchise like Halo for their own marketing purposes even though things are clearly not going on the right path as far as Halo lore goes. But hey, it happens to every franchise at some point or another. Just look at Star Wars, or AvP.

  • @LookingGlassProject Also don't call someone an idiot in an attempt to hold yourself higher above them simply because you dropped your sense of humor on its head before it had time to develop. That goes double if you casually use terms like "pwned."

  • i love watching him rip appart my favorite games its just kinda funny because i notice now how mutch i overlooked (persnally i love all the halo series except for HALO WARS )

  • HALO 4 FROM 343

  • Ahhh, Yahtzee and The Game Overthinker. The only two other people besides myself who think the Halo series is overrated.

  • SHUT UP, MOUTH, SHUT, NOW. That's my new phrase.

  • I'm a fan of classic shooters like doom, serious sam, painkiller etc. And out of all shooters we have these days halo is the only game I've ever gotten into

  • *Erases e in escapist* HA!

  • its crazy how right he was

  • @nolab143691 He is right, but it is still a good game, and trust me, this was easily one of the more positive reviews.

  • I just finished reach and the first thing I found with it is the instakills with the sword. I almost broke my controller

  • I loved this game although some characters I found hard to really care about their death some like carter's and Emile's and yours of course I found very intriguing, and the plot was well executed on going a,long with the franchise and the thing about halo is it never changes completely if not necessary but it dose add things for the best making each game feel similar with it's own twist so u don't feel like your buying the same game, *cough* COD *cough*

  • A sequel to Oni? Like that'll ever happen..

  • 2:05. Actually, there were more developed NPC's in ODST, and nobody died. But that's what happens when you have half the Firefly cast as the main characters.

    Buck's Squad >>>>>>>> Noble.

  • I liked this game, but I am willing to admit that the characters aren't great. Halo has always been about setting up this vast universe with an amazing mythology, and has unfortunately dropped the ball on deep and interesting characters. Still, the plot has always made you feel like you where ding something important while making you small enough to feel tangible, a balance very few games have managed to find in recent years.

  • I like World War II aviation. I was looking forward to Redtails. Then I learned that Lucas is one of the people developing it.

    Fuck.

  • @TakeBackTheWorld That kid from The Wizard is developing it? That's fucking awesooooh.... you mean George Lucas.

    Fuck.

  • But they have magnetic boots :(

  • @ZombieDawgs Are you joking or is this true?

  • @GenericFag It's true: "The suit also contains an electromagnetic system on the boots of the MJOLNIR suit that allow its wearer to stay attached..."

  • but ... halo 4 :3

  • If you bought playstation move why would you buy an xbox exclusive game?

  • this might sound a bit weird but..hergy dergy bobily boo

  • @Theraclese Nah. It doesn't sound weird because Yahtzee already said it in the video. It is also not funny because something like that is only funny once...as it was in the video.

  • Yatzee is a prophet. They ARE digging up the Halo franchise! I wonder if Yatzee can give me next week's lottery numbers :)

  • @matthewjakeallinson ya but the truth is the remake had been in mind since 2007 sooo

  • @hkrogers I meant Halo 4 -_-

  • @matthewjakeallinson He also predicted the Lemon Launcher.

  • @matthewjakeallinson So that would explain Halo CE: Anniversary? Or Halo 4?

  • @MrHaaxMan That would explain Halo 4, Halo Combat Evolved has been planned for ages

  • @matthewjakeallinson nope. he'd give you fake ones and use the real ones himself, all the while skipping and lightly singing 'hergy dergy boobily boo', until he realizes he's probably gonna have to spend it on video games to review and make us sad excuses for nerds happy for 5 or so minutes.

  • @matthewjakeallinson i know them there 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. there on the sheet right? :3

  • lol. This is the type of bullshit. It is a video game.

  • Seat belts? That's what you fuckin' complain about? Jesus. The game must've been so good that you picked something so fucking pathetic to complain about... Say something decent about the game, it deserves more.

  • @TheBloodbanshee

Why hello there aforementioned meta-cunt. I was expecting more of you to have shown up by now actually. Usually badmouthing the jesus of gaming brings in several thousand hate comments instantly

  • @pottsykp123 Did I hurt you? What's the insult all about, man? Cool it :P

  • @TheBloodbanshee maybe you should boycott seat belts even the second before you drive into a brick wall.

  • They don't need a seat belt because the armor allows them to fall from a spaceship all the way down to earth without even stubbing their toe

  • Damn, I was hoping he was going to say something about the multiplayer. From what I've seen, Forge is ridiculously awesome.

  • internet fight in the comments

  • So, yerp, we've had a remaster edition..and now Halo 4 is on the way.

  • ...theres going to be halo 4

  • @MrGraykin But it's not made by Bungie.

  • @FromHalo2halo Which is a good thing because Bungie fucked up after halo 2

  • @shizzzbiscuit 343 Industries are Microsoft's bitch, Bungie is the better company out of the two of them.

Halo is incredibly overrated anyway so I don't think it's a big loss that Bungie dropped the reigns of their flagship game.

  • @FromHalo2halo Except for halo 1 and 2, they weren't overrated at all. They were top of the line for the time and were sheer awesomeness, and actually required skill. Halo 3 came out, good campaign, online dead with 1 grenades = triple kill. Everything from then on sucked. Bungie did very well for the first and second, but it became with-holding the Bungie/Halo name rather than keeping up with the gameplay, which is why i hope that 343 will be better.

  • @FromHalo2halo

Bungie's made better games than Halo, like Marathon and Myth. I enjoyed Halo while it lasted, but even I know it needed to end at some point.

I look forward to see what their new IP will be, now that they are an independent company again.

  • @shizzzbiscuit

I say they fucked up after 3. I enjoyed 3's campaign. It's only problem was that it was too short, and that the fight with Guilty Spark was anti-climatic.

We should have fought fucking Gravemind, that at least would have made some sense.

  • @MrGraykin by 343 not bungie x _x

  • @AshHill07 firefight is single player aswell

  • Usual hilarious vid, just pointing out in the fluff it mentions that the spartan armour suit has magnetic soles on the boots, so they are in a sense nailed to the ramp : P

  • @LucaStamatescu As far as explanations go that's on par with "it's magic". Anyway, the doors are wide open, magic boots or not how does that protect them from enemy fire?

  • @FromHalo2halo

It's so they can have a wide range to shoot from, and it's easier to get in and out of, which is pretty useful in combat. Especially with the covenant.

It's just a gun ship, anyways. It's not made to transport and protect it's troops. That's the Pelican's job. Which is actually pretty concealed to protect it's troops anyway.

Besides, when you're fighting an enemy with plasma weapons, metal is only going to protect you for so long before it's eaten away.

  • @FromHalo2halo

And how is magnetic boots on par with "it's magic", anyways?

(sorry, i broke the character limit :/ )

  • @rockinsparzy105 All I'm saying is it's a bad excuse for something that shouldn't happen, like magic.

If you're willing to buy into all the things you just listed, Halo is the perfect game for you. Personally I find those explanations to be too contrived to be believed, and I also think it's silly that those explanations are never covered within the context of the games, if you have to familiarize yourself with the rest of the canon just to understand these faults the game just isn't that good.

  • @FromHalo2halo

I didn't say the game was perfect, nor excellent, I just find it weird that people say it's never explained in game. What about the weapons that attach to people's backs and legs? Those are obviously magnetic, it even makes a click in the trailer. When I saw marines being perched loosely on the hornet's sides, I just put two and two together. Even one of the books confirm it.

  • @FromHalo2halo

    (stupid character limit)

So why would they get rid of seat belts? I'm not sure. Removing seat belts probably makes it easier to get in and out of a vehicle quickly which could be useful in combat. It's probably not a smart idea I'll admit.

Also, this is Sci-Fi. I'm sure they need magnetic boots to move around in Zero G. Haven't you ever seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, where they use those Velcro, grip-shoes in order to walk around?

  • @rockinsparzy105

2001: A Space Odyssey was not a documentary, it was loosely based on reality but it was more of an exploration of human evolution than anything else.

The thing is a game (or any story for that matter) should make sense without having to explain things that are out of place. Not once in any of the games are 'magnetic boots' mentioned, it's not a pivotal plot point and it's not something that's common knowledge to the people playing the game.

  • @FromHalo2halo

How it not addressed to the player?

I just said I figured it out by the third game, without it having to explain anything. I just assumed that they wore magnetic boots.

Granted it doesn't explain how the marines are unable to fly out of the windshield of a warthog, but I think it explains how they don't fall off hornets and pelicans. At least for me.

  • @FromHalo2halo

Why are we even arguing about this anyways? It doesn't even seem like a crucial detail.

How come nobody ever questions other illogical stuff in games? How can Gordon Freeman walk when he has no legs? or torso for that matter? How come every descendent of Link is conveniently named Link as well?

These problems never stopped people from enjoying the games.

And I'm aware that 2001 isn't accurate, but it's a widely praised Sci-Fi, that's why I used it as an example.

  • I've been watching these videos for 20 minutes so far and I'm beginning to think this guy doesn't like anything :|

  • @KMxHearts There's plenty of stuff he likes, it's just scattered around. Of the top of my head - Silent Hill 2, the Sands of Time trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus, nearly everything Tim Schafer's ever made, Earthbound, Paper Mario, Symphony of the Night, BioShock, Half-Life 1 & 2, Res Evil 4, Saints Row 2, Metroid Prime, Portal, Assassin's Creed, COD4, Arkham Asylum. Some of those like SH2 and Portal he really really likes, others he just thinks aren't bad. But there's plenty of both.

  • @seanb91

Add Suda 51's work, specially Killer7, to Yahtzee's favorite list

  • @RobGrix Yeah, I hit the character limit XD

  • Reach was the only Halo game I actually enjoyed. As Yahtzee said, the single player was varied and at least made an effort. I also enjoyed the multiplayer too (GASP) because most gme modes allowed me to be an invisible stealth class, which is always fun to play as against other human players.

  • last halo game! hah!!!

  • @g021900 uuuuh, im guessing nobody told you about halo 4

  • @Bleeperblopper497 i was being sarcastic -.-

  • @g021900 Well, Halo: Reach was supposed to be the last game, but, I think its 343 productions, maybe, took over from Bungie and has started making 4, 5 and 6.

  • @SlashedInHalf oh shit i didnt know they were making 5 and 6! O_o

  • @1:32

Wrong! The game just takes place during the battle of Reach. The war actually started when the covenant invaded Harvest and spanned 28 years. You can read more detail about it in the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach, which would have been a much more interesting plot for Halo: Reach, but apparently Bungie doesn't agree with me. That's why everyone is not surprised about the Covenant showing up in Reach because they already knew it was inevitable.

  • @rockinsparzy105

This is because they lost a shitload of other battles that we never got to see, and the whole reason the Battle of Reach was such a big deal was because it was the last defending colony before they come to Earth. Also, the reason everyone can use Covenant weapons and vehicles is because the Spartans brought back Covenant technology to ONI so we could learn how to use it against them.

And yes, I'm fully aware that I sound like a total Halo Nerd right now. :P

  • @rockinsparzy105

Other than that though, it's a good and very funny review.

I just felt like correcting one of his complaints about the game.

    :)

  • I heard they're making a 4th >:D

  • I don't want to sound like a bitch defending Reach, But the repetitive levels was supposed to be a tribute to previous Halo levels, Sniper mission, tank mission ect.

The multiplayer of Reach should have been reviewed because it has been a big part of the Halo series since Halo 2.

Yes I think the story has suffered a little from it but the forge tool is fucking golden, so much has spawned from it it has an amazing amount of replay value, Halo 3 kept me going for 3 years Reach is doing likewise.

  • *cough cough* Anniversary *cough cough* *cough cough* Halo 4 *cough cough*

  • ok i was expecting a slightly better review he didnt even say anything about firefight or forge, which was much improved. i think it was generaly a good game even though the story could have been a lot better and something to do with the book

  • @MPSA4 I think you'll find it was covered at 3:44

  • Comment removed

  • Honestly this Reach is my favorite Halo game since the original, with multiplayer that fits my style the best of the series and a single player mode that really made you use all the techniques you were given to succeed while still not railroading you into using the exact same strategy every time.

I just hope that 343 can keep up what Bungie started, because otherwise I am going to be mighty disapointed.

  • lol @ 1:49

  • brb, im gonna find my straightjacket because i seem to have gone nuts according to you

  • @Partyffs

This previous generation console game, it was anime inspired and about this woman in the future. Bungie made it before halo was a thing.

I wears young, it was too hard for me to play XD

  • i held out for 1 hour before i let the ugely bogelys kill me :P

  • I want an Oni sequel!!!!

  • @MrNeeNaw Whats Oni? oO

  • 3:59 O_O

  • this is a point i agree with wholeheatedly

a full priced game has to stand on its single player, with multiplayer being a fun side dish for some players

which is why i laugh at platers that claim the various shooter clones are fantastic because of multiplater

  • hey he mentioned oni

  • There a lot of times when Yahtzee is wrong or just a noob. If he couldn't figure out a practical application for armor lockup, he's not giving the game the amount of thought it deserves.

  • @Zaidon7 It's only really useful in multilayer, which he never plays.

  • @MrCSP24 *multiplayer

  • They wouldn't have this many NPC chars if they wern't going to kill them all off?

Halo 3 ODST had more than reach and not a single one of them died.

  • @AshHill07 Not just NPCs, personified NPCs. As in, all the people we don't really give a shit about that the game spends time trying to make us give a shit about so that when the game does eventually get to picking them off one by one, we won't be sitting here bored during the "gloriously heroic" death sequence shouting "get the hell on with it so I can get back to the fun bits" at the screen.

    Big difference between the two.

  • I haven't played or heard about 90% of these games but fuck this guy is funny. Brisbane represent yo

  • He predicted the re-release of Halo 1

  • @fr0nage

    Halo 4 too.

  • @fr0nage

    Who didn't?

  • @fr0nage From Microsoft nonetheless...

  • @fr0nage no, this released after the e3 in which they announced it

  • It wasn't the start it was the start of the end of the war

  • @8blademaster You're neglecting the new Halo games. So its- The start of the end of the last war before the new last war to begin its inevitable ending so a new beginning can... start?

Sure, I can dig that. A grave...

  • I stand happy and proud that I have only played this game once with a friend where we did some comical survival rounds and Game Ever (awesome console arcade!)... Then the 13 year got up and started screaming because he got rightfully owned.

  • I like Halo, but Yahtzee is not wrong. Games need to be able to stand up on single player.

  • yahtzee pwned all halo fanboys at 01:01 to 01:08 =)

  • This game sucks weenus.

  • Reach wasn't the start of the Human-Covenant war D:

  • Halo Reach isn't the last halo game...

    Shit...

JK, I like the halo seires

  • I take it he hasn't heard of Halo3 ODST

  • @malfaro66 odst isnt a real game, just an expansion dumbass

  • @deadsoldier101 no, it's a real game. I know. I've played it.

Expansion would imply that it needed the full other game to operate.

  • @M1STAWU1FY it might as well have been an expassion, and ive played it too, ps halo died along time ago

  • @deadsoldier101 Actually, it IS a full game, if it was an expansion, it would have been online DLC, not something that got it's own, hype, case, box set, and NAME.

  • @deadsoldier101 actually, it is a real game

  • Did anyone get that he said NOBLE deaths and its called TEAM NOBLE? I just though you all should get thaat..

  • SPARTANS have magnet boots

At least I think they do..

  • @carsonlstivers They don't, but they have magnetic sections on their armor which is where they put weapons.

  • Comment removed

  • @Vashtanerada477 !!! Have you ever heard the phrase: ''Too much [CENSORBAR] information"?!

  • I'm an open minded gamer, and just because Halo is my favorite game series doesn't mean I'm incapable of saying he's right on all counts.

  • But there is 4...

  • The cool thing is how the multiplayer is still popular now and there isn't that much dicks who ear rape you :)

  • this isnt the last anymore

  • He liked Halo Reach's story more than 3? Holy shit! I thought they both sucked.

  • I loved it. I stay away from multiplayer though.

    Hilarious review, as always XD

  • I hope Halo 4 is going to make up for reach any one agree with me

  • @CaptainViral84 'make up for reach'

....make u for what , exactly? Best halo by far, in my opinion. And I'm not a halo fan, just a guy who likes the game.

  • @CaptainViral84 reach was awesome so there isnt much to make up for.

  • @DannyEastes lol
