  • Hey David. I finally got my Axe II in, and hooked it up to my Atomic cabinet. Sounds, of course, are pretty awesome. I think I may need to look into using 2 Atomics, as some of the high gain settings generate some massive lows! That's tough on one 12" Speaker!

I'm commenting here to commend your continuing efforts on YouTube in offering some intelligent light on playing and gear. I like how you don't let the haters get to you. It's likely the only gear they're playing on is a laptop anyway.

  • @Five0Music Congrats on the new gear man. :-)

Thanks so much for the encouraging comment, always appreciated! :-)

  • Sounds like...crap. Probably the youtube messing compression etc...! Playing is good though!

  • @81giorikas Quality was not great on the audio, I really like the setup though.

    Thanks for the nice comments!

  • Thank you very much for taking the time to make this demo ,

It really helped me to ease down on my lust for this unit.

    You play beautifully brother

use it in good health brother,

I am gonna continue go the boutque tube amp route

  • @realitywakeupslap Thanks a lot! I'm glad you found this review useful.

Boutique tubes are awesome for sure. I think a lot of people are looking for exact replicas of amps and effects in machines such as the Axe. I think they are different too, just a different type of tool... Neither better or worse, just different in my opinion. :-)

  • @Wallimann

Your opinion is correct, myself included no one wants to carry around those heavy transformer filled boutique tube amps and their maintenance costs... AXEFX is easier, and high tech etc.but the multi harmonic timbre of a vacume tube is pure magic in the right hands. To each his own of course, You sound great.I am having a stereo boutique amp made when I do I want you to listen to the demo I will post. Not better, different, its a taste thing,I wish I could do it lighter :)

  • Hey Dave did you turn off the cab sims while going through the atomics or were they also on?

  • @immortalsoloist They were on. :-)

  • You don't need a power amp when playing with the Reactors?

  • @ObscureBeast No, the Atomic are powered speakers...

  • @Wallimann Thanks for the reply.

  • 1:14 Eric Johnson

  • use to play boogies,I just use processors now, easier and sounds better!

  • I had an Atomic Reactor cab myself. They are awesome for players like me who love to play with digital processors. Even though they were made for use with the Axe FX II, they work awesome with any multi-effects processor IE POD, Digitech RP series ETC

  • how do you get over the fact that you don't have a natural tube amp playing through this? It bothers me so much that I wouldn't have a tube amp playing.

  • @Ziece4 I never used much tube amps in my life, so don't really miss it. :-)

  • do you have any songs fully recorded with the axe fx 2? so we can hear a proper mix

  • @nemogre Not yet.. But working on it! :-)

  • @Wallimann hey mr. walli, did you use the cab sims on the axe fx? is it good? or would it be better to load some other IR's in the axe?

  • @aldricsuan I like them a lot, but haven't tried the IRs...

  • where exactly can you be these monsters?

  • @thompsonchd I got them on Ebay

  • Did you choose the amps to 'match' the AXE FX 2 or can u use any amp/cabinet with it?

Nice shirt and great playing as always!

  • @JDNDVS Thanks so much! You can use any cabs with it, but it's recommended to use soe that won't color your sound. I picked those because I got a killer deal on Ebay. :-)

  • Also, why does every video on youtube have so many camera edits when someone is talking? It's getting old....

  • @geamalaVide0 If I didn't, you would never watch my videos.. They would be at least 10 minutes long...

  • The camera mic doesn't at all give an idea what it can do (although i'm sure it is very good). Sounds as good as my laptop speakers in this vid.

  • Why cabinets vs wedges? Just curious. It's hard to judge with your cameras mic and my MacBook's tiny-winy speakers but I believe it does sound properly at the low end. I'm paling it for Line6 HD500. Thanks for the video.

  • @totocaster Just because I had a very good deal for both of them. :-)

  • Do you plan on giggind with this setup or with the Fender Amp you have? btw I've become addicted to your videos in the past week or so! Useful stuff!

  • @joejones891 I'll use the Atomic Amps. I'm actually selling the Fender now. I love it but don't need it anymore...

  • alright so I'm just starting out, but i was wondering if you need to plug in the AXE into a computer.

  • @NecrophiliacKingdom You don't need to, but you can if you want to record directly..

  • Sounds amazing man, Wish i could afford the Axe fx II, Unemployment sux---lol

  • Loved the NI ad at the beginning, haha!

  • @LydianHarmony Hahaha! Good call!

  • so is there no eq section on these amps?

  • @topdog2328 No...

  • sounds cool man..but i guess you cant get any petrucci heavy metal tones or satch type...

  • @nemogre Thanks! Yeah, you can. I've seen some great clips with Petrucci, Satch types of tones. Petrucci actually uses the Axe.

  • @Wallimann I know that the axe fx is capable of metal tones alone but arent the atomic reactors causing a bottleneck effect?? I know they are more mellow amps...

  • @nemogre No, they are just very flat which is good in this case. All the tones from the Axe are reproduced very accurately without being altered by any EQ...

  • @Wallimann OK i get it...the atomic reactors are not colouring the tone in any way...they are just there to bring to axe fx tone to life without the use of a computer or monitors or whatever...they are like self-amplified cabinets in stead of using some other power amp and cabs... sorry for bugging you xaxax thnx for aswering

  • @nemogre Anytime man!

  • what pickups are in the neck and middle??

  • @stuartjonez Dimarzio Evolution in bridge, Dimarzio Virtual solo in middle and Dimarzio Chopper in neck. :-)

  • @Wallimann is it true that the evolution shows when u plays sloppy , because i ve a pretty good technique but im still learning and also is the evo got a good enough clean sonud?

  • @stuartjonez I haven't noticed more than any others..

  • @Wallimann what about the clean sound? and thanks for the replies :)

  • @stuartjonez The amps are at our practice space right now but if I get them back here I will do that.

  • needs more wood, less plastic.

  • damn Dave is awesome rig sounds killer!

  • @Lubial Thanks!

  • Holy crap that shirt is awesome!

  • @hgyture2347 Damn awesome!

  • @hgyture2347 Hehe! Thank you sir!

  • lol. you look very happy. ;) very nice leads and i am waiting and waiting for my axe 2..

    cheers,

    alex

  • @AlexCronex Thanks Alex, you will love it!!!

  • Holy shit, I'm so jealous!

  • yup, still same ole sterile digital tone

  • david, the tone you get from the axe fx and the reactors is simply amazing and beautiful. I'm so glad for you! ; ) You must be really happy! haha

  • @ashboyy Thanks you very much!

  • amazing tones!

  • @nikitofin Thanks!

  • 1:16 sounds very close to Eric Johnson's tone

  • @jesusgnr12 It does!

  • @Wallimann

please share the settings, or at least point us in the right direction :)

  • @jesusgnr12 I was just turning the knobs through the factory preset as I shot the video. Can't remember what it was but it was factory preset though...

  • Sounds awesome dude

  • @drawnacrol Thanks!

  • wicked tones

  • @thruthewall Thanks!

  • @thruthewall Thanks!

  • Tones sound good! now I need to save money for my amp :O

  • @sonicthehedgehogxp Thanks for watching!

  • Really nice tones man. Spread the cabs out a few feet and stand in the middle for epic 'pretend I'm in an arena' stereo tone!

  • @Adji87 Haha! Yeah, that's what I did when I tried them first. :-)

  • For those of you, like me, who find this rig a bit too pricey, there is an alternate solution. I run a Lane 6 POD HD300 through a Tech 21 Power Engine 60, and I like it a lot. I have no way to compare it to Walliman's rig, but mine sounds great, it's very versatile, and it's a helluvalot less expensive than Walliman's :) If you are interested in going the amp-modelling route, you should give it a try.

  • @menofsticks I heard great things of that setup, thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome rig! Hard to tell how it sounds, has about the same sound as playing Peavey Revavler through PC speakers lol. Sure it sounds awesome. Really gotta get some mics now. You could have such a killer sound with two cab mics and a room mic. Even just a room mic would probably be great for demoing. Happy for you because I know those sound great though.

  • @Whyrendog Thanks!

  • Now lets do this one more time but with the Eleven Rack !

    Salut !

  • @666patrickbateman666 I might do that! :-)

  • @666patrickbateman666 2nd vote, these sound cool with the Eleven Rack also!

  • Great tones there mate.. I actually came across you when Chappers liked one of your videos a few months back and im really glad it happened cuz your videos are always great, cheers Jase..

  • @IVIANNERZ Thanks Jase!

  • Great mate! Can you please tell me what software you use to edit your videos?

  • @deltafit Thanks! I use Final Cut Pro X.

  • Sorry didn't enjoyed it... the sound of the strings don't let me hear clearly the sound of the atomic reactors, Still envy you though

  • @diazluisdiaz I know what you mean, I wish I had proper mics to record these properly. Thanks for your comment!

  • @Wallimann use that youtube money my friend! :P

  • some killer sound there mate!

  • @CMLMalta Thank you!

  • maybe it's the audio of the camera, but the highs seem a little brittle... did u notice that too or is it just me ?

  • @AndreNieri Maybe a bit of both.... :-)

  • MORE REVIEWS, PLEEEEEEEASE!

    Really curious about those amps!

  • great amps and a great tshirt

  • You should have put what amp the Axe Fx was emulating. Other than that great playing as usual :-)

  • Ok I,m jealous now. I still have the ultra, which is great .Great demo

  • is that a new bridge on the parker? awesome sounds

  • so what exactly are the atomic reactors/ what are they for?

  • Im sure a year ago you wouldt think you would had this BADASS equipment, its such an improvement, congratulations!

  • Sounds good on distorted tones... but what about clean and crunch sounds?

  • @larryseyer Sounds good too. :-)
