@royser1 There have been plenty of Labour people who were members of the Communist Party as well as Labour and believed that Labour should move towards Lenin and away from the centre.
Two topical examples of Cabinet ministers flying the Red flag from their council buildings were Margaret Hodge and David Blunkett. Foot, to his credit, tried to moderate and people like that hated him for it.

I've met Billy Bragg twice, he's a really great guy, and he's doing more than just supporting immigrant rights and ethnic minorities and leftwing politics (which I think is good anyway), he fronts all sorts of projects helping British people of any nationality, for instance the work he does in youth prisons helping them to find alternate life paths, or the work he did for the Miners in the 80s, say what you want about false philanthropists Bono and Geldof, but Bragg is a different story
