If it weren't for samples, a lot of great artists would have been forgotten by now. I've heard more than one of the greats say sampling saved their (genre of) music in interviews. Bootsy Collins for instance has said it kept the funk alive. Like Japan has saved Jazz before, the same can be said for sampling. No idea's original, anyway.

Sure, you can always flip something that has already been sampled before but you REALLY have to do something original with it so it isn't just compared to this person or that person. Why not just keep digging those old crates until you find something else that no one else has sampled. There's always something new lurking in the next dusty old crate...
