  • 日本語上手ですね~ really means: hey you're not very good at japanese but im telling you that you are. There can not be a more accurate translation than that :D

  • lol i do that "put the words in a familiar tune" thing all the time lol even if i am not trying to learn i just do it for fun lol it doesent usually get rid of songs stuck in my head though

  • Oh wow - didn't know there was someone out there with a similar series. :P

  • yay! i subscribed!!! random question... are you japanese or at least half japanese? just kinda wonderin...

  • That just... So totally earnt my subscription! Very awesome!

  • awesome vid, thanks!

  • great video, and man, you look like will weathon!

  • you make the best youtube videos!! XD

  • Man, I have to admit, if I had recorded myself singing that, I wouldn't have the balls to put it on the net... Is Hakata really that lonely? lol. Great video, maybe I'll post my embarrassing attempts one day.

  • Ha ha ha - I hesitated...not gonna lie. But I decided I could still live with myself afterward. Ha ha. And I think you made a typo. "Is Hakata really that lonely?"

Shouldn't that read "Is Hakata really that AWESOME!?"

The answer, of course, is a resounding "yes." ;-)

  • Well Hakata and Shikoku are top on the priority list on my next trip to Japan, we'll see if you're right about that.

  • So entertaining...I'm actually going to have that stuck in my head now. I've been bothering all my friends trying to impress them with my new found skills...they just give me weird looks. This new one might be a bit of a challenge.

  • Haha, props to you for pointing out the harsh reality of "Nihongo wa jyouzu!"

I'll have that Mary Poppins version of the tongue-twister in my head all day now.

  • You have a new friend! LoL

  • Excellent... (rubbing hands together like an evil genius)

  • And now you work and live in Japan..:)

I'm also very interested in Japanese culture, I am 1/8th Japanese lol.

How were the first few months when you got there?

Was it just as great as you expected it to be?

What do you love best about Japan?

    Sorry for the many questions.

  • The first few months were fine. I think I had a realistic view of what I was getting into, though. It was harder adjusting to the rural setting than it was to simply being in Japan. Ha ha.

It's pretty much what I expected - it has its great parts and its lame parts. Like anywhere else, just...different. Ha ha.

I love the people, the language, the scenery, and the food. And probably loads of other stuff too.

  • How long have you been speaking Japanese?

  • I guess around 5 years? (But not particularly well.)

  • What got you interested in Japanese language?

    You speak it very well.

  • Long story - the short version is that I was avoiding killing my GPA upon entering college. They tried to make me keep taking French, but I was really lousy at it, sadly. I opted to take the language farthest away from a romance language, which belonged to the country whose culture I was most interested in. :-) Glad I did it.

  • Japanese is far away from a romance language? That's an interesting point of view...

In other words, I love your videos! And this one's no exception! Keep at it~ ^^
