in the future, when I get my own space ship, I'll genetically design replicants of these guys to just play this kinda looped whilst I cruise the galaxies for lost alien artifacts.
Saw Delight is a great LP - not Can's finest perhaps, but a masterpiece by most other bands' standards? LOVE the "Moonshake" elements in this version btw...!
This's kinda a rip-off from the Future days's track ''Moonshake'', but I have always felted that it was too short but too awesome theme for the band at the same time, so this song is a relief: A LONGER version of MOONSAKE.
he has some very odd home made fuzz which he uses alot during the entire of cans career. so i cant give u a make unfortunatly casue i dont think it is one.
Can someone post the studio version? I was trying to prove a point about the similiarity between Don't Say No and Moonshake, but the point is made better if I could use the studio version of Don't Say No.
Yes, I know it's well known to Can fans that Don't Say No is a rewrite of Moonshake, but not everyone is familiar with Can's music. Which is why I was looking for the studio version of Don't Say No.
"Don't say know" isn't a moonshake remake. It does have a little moonshake flavor though.
This live version is another matter, however. This version is more moonshake than Don't Say. But Can always played around in their live performances, they could never play the same song twice.
Moonshake was recorded in 1973 (Future Days), before Rosko joined the group. Looks like he wanted to jam that moonshake beat, and rightly so, it's a sweet sound. This is 4 years later. Listen to the studio version.
Damo Suzuki left the band a few years before this time frame. Saw Delight (the album this song is on) was the fourth album they made after Damo left the band.
I saw Damo in concert a few years ago, though. He was great. He came to Cleveland and played with Cul De Sac, doing a very Can like set. And at the end of the whole thing, he jumped off the stage and started hugging audience members, including me! I got Damo sweat on me!!!! :-)
I don't agree that Damo and Mooney had such a big influence on music by Can. I started to listen them from a very strange album called Prehistoric future, and they were awesome. But if we're talking about the singers Damo was the best.
P. S. Do you know that album? Because it's not even listed on their discography.
so this is what happens when you give into religion. this was one of the greatest bands in history until the lead singer left to become a jehova's witness. don't be weak, don't ever let them get you! just check Irmin's jacket for further warning!
I don't think that the influences of the lead singers from CAN were so big!The guys just looking for something strange, a new way of singing, but the essence of Can are irmin, michael, holger and, of course, jaki!
I don't agree. During Damo Suzuki's time with Can, they became something unique. I agree all the members had something cool to offer, and can is nearly always interesting, if nothing else. But I believe the band became spiritual and transcedent a few albums with Damo. Not only because of him, somehow it became greater than all of them. These things can only last a short time, anyway. If you don't know Can, check out anything with Damo on vocals first, and the rest later!
I think its a question of personal taste.i like Malcom Mooneys vocals more then Damos, especially on the 89-record, but I have big respect for both singers!I agree that the music was more interesting with the vocalists
Well it's not exactly awful... They could have taken the band in a different direction but I guess they were saving their best stuff for their solo albums.
There weren't any on the broadcast of the German Rock night. There was a Kraftwerk jam which was proto-Neu though... I think its called Koln and was uploaded at youtube.
Bit of an austere venue. The audience appear stade and rigoured, rather odd considering how good the band are!
