Why do people rate this so bad? Normally there wouldn't be this many haters on this kind of video so just to 'even' it out a bit I'm going to press that like button.
This is actually really good! You should try and work yourself into the pop-industry, this is a lot more inventive than some of the shit you hear in modern pop AND it's a catchy tune.
@Bleumange What!? That was a compliment! And nobody who knows anything about music can deny the fact that most of modern pop is comercial crap. That's why I was saying there is room for this guy, who actually has talent, because there are, still, pop-artists who actually are "artists", who write music as a way to express themselves. These, however, are few.
@Bleumange I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're saying (I am not a native english-speaking person). All I am saying is that this guy is obviously talented so he should try and go for it in the music industry, which, I mean, is too full of crap produced only to speak to the masses and thereby making as much money as possible for the people behind it. That's a sad truth, but it is - nevertheless - the truth. I don't understand why you bring up specific genres like r&b and rap like that.
@moltoallegro19 I brought them up because that's mainly what you were referring to. I'm saying that because someone has minimal knowledge in the field, it doesn't mean he should listen to you.
@Bleumange I'm not "mainly" referring to r&b and rap, I'm talking about popular music in general. And, no, he doesn't need to listen to me, but I AM allowed to give him compliments and encourage him if I think what he's doing is good. What's your problem!? Assuming (and telling me!) I mean one thing when I clearly say an other, saying that he shouldn't listen to my compliments, and also assuming he has "minimum knowledge in the field". You have no reason to be rude, now leave me alone!
i graduated high school a year early and am now in college and i too play trumpet, lol that would not be impossible... but i do have to agree with shrimpiness and entropiamusic, the counterpoint was not as good as it could have been... try to listen around to other music and get some ideas, other than that nice melody.
@philipeafroboy1 Your obviously not a very experienced trumpet player. I've played music in bands, where they are no rests, (ok the odd occasional crotchet rest) and the pieces go on for around 10 mins.
@philipeafroboy1 some trumpeters can go that long, I can play for about 45 seconds on trombone, which takes more air. This requires about 50 seconds of playing, not necessarily unreasonable.
Click the first note, then hit "n," then you can add more notes. Or, as you're putting the note in for the first time, you can add notes to it without just changing the note, as long as you don't click anywhere else first.
Click "Play" at the top of the screen then choose "Playback and Input Devices...". Then make sure "Kontakt Player" and your other computer synth are set as "Yes" under "Use." Then, hit the mixer button and click the synth. Change "Device" to the synth that's not Kontakt Player (for me, it's "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth"). Click "Sound" then "Synth Effects" then the sound you want (I used "Pad 7 (halo)" in this).
make the minims at around 0:31 (and others that follow the same rhythm) a semi quaver shorter or longer because having 3 together makes it start off beat sounding like its a mistake.
apart from that I really really liked it, ezpecially the bass at the beginning
I love the trumpet part, I use trumpet in a lot of my compositions. Really well written! How long did it take you to write?

@moltoallegro19 So because you're so desensitised to the actual process of writing music you glorify everything that's not r&b/rap?

All i don't like about this piece is the trumpet part, maybe it's becasue of the poor sample quality but it sounds bad, everything else is genius.
magichristo 1 year ago
There's plenty of breathing spaces for the trumpet here. In the end of the long notes, for instance, where you can have a quick replenishment.
helburr 1 year ago
I like it, however I think your trumpet player will pass out trying to play that :p

The counterpoint style you used is too academic. Try composing them as individual progressions in your head rather than fitting them to each other...
The semiquaver off-beat on the snare drum part is extremely dissentive as well. You should follow a more techno-style beat for this kind of fugue.

I play trumpet. it would be playable im not very good technically but with practice a decent player could play it. Theres minims to snatch breaths.
gigeorge17371 1 year ago
@philipeafroboy1 what do you mean. you can play trumpet without playing rests. you breathe after longer notes without cutting of the ends.
haha
link0099 1 year ago
@philipeafroboy1 actually it is possible..just take quick breaths at the end or close to the end of the tied notes or between the longer notes :P
