In the U.S. there are so many guns it would take years, if it were even possible, to get guns off the streets. we have almost total gun control in the UK and last year only 39 people were shot dead in the UK (60 million people). In the U.S. the figure is 22,500. 3500 of those being children.

I really like this advert. It sends a good message. These situations presented were accurate. Nobody wants to see anyone become a victim. In an ideal world this would be "the" solution. However, there are many aspects of this issue which this does not address. I hope the program does.
It seems many people have been moved by this film. It's creator should be justifiably pleased. This film has been in circulation for almost four months. The TV show's were informative and interesting. The anti knife march in London at the weekend was presumably a positive experience for those involved.
Short term all of these activities wont have much of an impact but i think the message is probably getting through to the younger children about these problems which are being addressed in schools across the country.

In the U.S. there are so many guns it would take years, if it were even possible, to get guns off the streets. we have almost total gun control in the UK and last year only 39 people were shot dead in the UK (60 million people). In the U.S. the figure is 22,500. 3500 of those being children.

@WillShakespeare2007 @geod5 The problem in the USA is not guns, it is violence. Most violence in the USA is in someway connected to the drug problem. Therefore the drug policy of the federal government is to blame. The same thing happened during prohibition from 1918 to 1933.
The violence is just a symptom of bigger problems. Guns are just a tool. So baning guns would not even treat the symptom, let alone the problem itself. A more liberetarian drug policy might help though.

The Right to bare arms is to keep private citizen's SAFE from the GOVERNMENT. Is this a joke? This is fear mongering! Notice the only ones who had guns were the criminals. If you disarm the law abiding citizens, all you have now is armed criminals. This includes THE GOVERNMENT! Law abiding citizens don't just walk around shooting people just because they have a gun! I can only hope that people don't fall for this blatant attempt to disarm a population only to leave them completely defenseless, aside from throwing stones, against a tyrannical government.

@leestauf I understand what your saying, but did you know, that almost 80% of illegally owned guns, are bought off of teenagers who steal the guns from there fathers or relatives? Yes, if everybody was legally aloud to carry a gun, crime with guns would stay the same. Its been proven, cause kids would take there relatives guns and sell them. Thats why most murders end up with an innocent man behind bars because his gun was stolen and used to shoot someone. I get you message, but it will not stop

The problem isn't gun ownership or knife ownership in the UK. From this infomercial looks like the crime is coming from young gang related kids. We can place them in the criminal catagory. So law abiding citizens are not doing the crime but criminals are. Fluxuation in crime due to gun bans that only law abiding citizens follow. like I said problems not guns. The real victims of gun control are those law abiding citizens who have been disarmed and have no means to protect themselves from criminals, which naturally includes the government as well. History is clear about what happens when citizens are disarmed and only the government has the monopoly on firearms: tyranny and in many cases genocide. It is a God-given, natural right for people to own and bear firearms unhampered by the state to protect themselves against their respective government.

This kind of outright collectivist propaganda is typically referred to as "psychological disarmament." It is meant to manipulate the perceptions of the masses about firearms and getting them to think that it is the gun itself that is bad, not the handful of criminals who use one in a criminal act. It is a proven fact that gun control does not keep "illicit" guns off the streets and does not prevent violence with them either.

it also has a larger population and thats not taking into account concealed carry laws, if the UK had open or concealed carry laws, people might just think twice before messing around with guns. its not about the weapon, its the intent of the user that makes the different, ban guns, they use knives, stricter knife laws, theyll use bricks and batons. its a never ending circle.

I really like this advert. It sends a good message. These situations presented were accurate. Nobody wants to see anyone become a victim. In an ideal world this would be "the" solution. However, there are many aspects of this issue which this does not address. I hope the program does.

It seems many people have been moved by this film. It's creator should be justifiably pleased. This film has been in circulation for almost four months. The TV show's were informative and interesting. The anti knife march in London at the weekend was presumably a positive experience for those involved.
Has any of this reduced violent crime in the UK?

Short term all of these activities wont have much of an impact but i think the message is probably getting through to the younger children about these problems which are being addressed in schools across the country.
most of the current bunch of thugs will probably be criminals for life though

Its not dreaming. There has been huge input into the education system to address problems that have become clear over recent years
Knife crime, drugs, smoking are all being dealt with more effectively than before. People blame labour for all of todays problems and yet they are not the core problem, they may not of fixed the solution but thats different
Labours been in power for 11 years. the Generation causing problems are older teens. We blame parents, they wernt educated under labour either

Most of the crimes are commited with illegal guns which means you can hardly prevent gun crime by banning guns...if u outlaw guns only outlaws will have them..Thats a fact.Crimes with legal guns are rare.U cant take guns from thousand of innocent people to try to stop criminals with ilegal guns.Thanks god i dont live in the uk.Its not a free country anymore.The gun bans did not help anythins just to eliminate freedom.I always excersive my right to keep and bear arms.Its a fundamental right.

In 19 states that have recieved the right to carry since 1995, 19 of them have seen dropping gun crime and other violent crime rates. So I'd say were using our rights very responsibly. Also! exactly so, guns bans have done nothing to lower gun crimes, infact they have gone up drammactically after the pistol ban. and ofcorse gettin a gun is childsplay, if a criminal wants a gun they can get one, the only people the law is affecting is true law abiding citizens, but unfortunately out government is full of pricks and wont allow us to carry firearms for self defencs, trust me give that a year or so and crime will be way down and sow will prison numbers.
