I always heard that NASA put cyanide pills somewhere in the lunar module so that they could have a relatively quick death if they got stranded on the moon, instead of slowly waiting for the oxygen to run out. Wish somebody would ask him about it.
@krushnoi the story is fake. if they did get stranded then they would have tried everything possible to get the engine lit. failing that they probably would have preferred to have just opened the LM hatch without suits and let the atmosphere out. would have been a more respectable way to go instead of taking pills. Jim Lovell talks about this subject in his book Lost Moon (awesome book). Why take pills when they could have just opened the hatch and be exposed to vacuum.
