Allow me to make something clear to all who read this :) You don't actually play as Oxide :) You can tell, because the smoke is coming from his a** and not from the Exhaust (I think it's called Exhaust xD The Grey Pipes connected to the engine?). Plus the fact that Oxide is faster than this. So i've concluded that you don't play as Oxide, but you get a skin that makes you look like Oxide :)

@VfxGodOfDK That's how Oxide is in time trial mode also when you race his ghost - no different from the cheat. So part of the game uses the same version of Oxide you get to race as, and since the time trial ghost is waaaay more skilled than story mode Oxide I think it's better.

Also, all bosses get speed boosted carts when you race them, but when you play as them they have the same stats as normal chars - Papu Papu is like Tiny for example. Oxide's cart is like Crash's :P

@XxTHEPORTAxX After you win the race, press R2 or R1 and you should see the face icon change to penta. (when you see all the faces at the end of the race) press the button to change it to penta after you win and you should be ok to keep going

Oxide only works on small maps like Coco Park, Crash Cove and Roo's Tubes with other racers. To use him on all maps play time trial

Make sure you're using the NTSC (american) version of the game, and have put the codes in correctly in PEC's user database. If PEC is set as your video plugin that's good, other than that I don't see what could be wrong

@kankuro6666 Hi, make sure you're using the NTSC version of the game, and after you select your character (any character) on the track choose screen (where you select the level) press your L2 key. Press it like 5 times just to make sure, then choose a track.

Oxide WILL crash the game on most tracks. Stick to Coco Park, Roo's tubes, crash cove and you should be able to find a list of maps oxide crashes, if you want me to find it for you just pm me or something.

You can't unlock Oxide at all. You need to use the gameshark cheats i described in the info section, but it's still cool to play as him x)

His cart is like Crash's in case you're wondering. N.Tropy/Tiny/Dingo/Papu Papu are still the best

@marik332000 that's wrong, the game is over 10 years old and tons of people have kaned oxide on every track, he crashes the game is probably the main reason he isn;t unlockable, but it's been shown time and time again you cannot unlock him legitimately

@CurseCreep Sorry, there is NO WAY to unlock Oxide in the game. You MUST use a game shark if you ever want to play as him. This game has been around longer than 10 years, and no one has ever found a legitimate method of unlocking him, because there isn't one.

I think it is the NTSC version. Don't forget to press L2 at track selection, and also, just remember to have the code activated when you cllick 'send cheats to plugin' on PEC.

Also that your gfx plugin is set as PEC. That's about all the help i can give :X it should work fine though.

Hmm that problem seems unusual to me. Your computer is fine running every other rom right? And you have the emulator configured properly with PEC in it? I can't see any reason why it should crash there.

I downloaded the game, got PEC running just in case, but when I try and enter a race ePSXe stops and crashes. Any ideas how to fix it? I also removed PEC and tried to play normally. (btw for the vid about Moo, I found another way to insert codes by editing codelist.inf)

Oxide only works on small maps with low polygon counts: NOT oxide station, or hot air skyway, not n.gin labs, not tiger temple, not the polar pass. On time trial, oxide works in every map.

Not in time trial: roo's tubes, dingo canyon, papu's pyramid, blizzard speedway, dragon mines, stick to them, and coco park.

Yeah but even with PEC off, my game crashes and a ePSXe error loads saying Error reading (and many numbers). I saw a few other vids on Youtube maybe they could help too but nothing is working =/ so I guess I need to stick on playing on other games besides CTR :'(

Nope. you HAVE to use a gameshark - he crashes the game on certain levels because of his high polygon count. There is NO way to unlock him other than gameshark. The game has beeen out over 9 years, u would have think someone has done it by now if there was a way.

If you download an Emulator, you can play CTR on your PC. You can download a PC Gameshark to work with the emulator, it's called PEC. (PSX emulation cheater)
