  • "A monumental change"

    -Brian Brown

So exactely what "change" has happened in Massachussettes or Canada where gays have been marrying for over 8 years?

  • Al Sharpton is retarded.

  • @marknluz <--- this guys is retarded.

  • I am so tired of this brown guy. He never, never, never answering any of the questions put to him. He deflects every single one. He was asked to say how gay marriage threatens his marriage. He didn't answer. He was asked why NOM doesn't work on anything but gay marriage, such as divorce. He didn't answer. He claims that there's never been a society that accepted homosexuality, UNtrue.

  • @McWells3000 - State does not have to recognize same sex unions. Marriage is based on biology. If there were 3 sexes, then those three would be able to get married. You are trying to base marriage on behaviors, which opens up a pandoras box for every fringe group to claim their rights are being violated. If you want to argue that marriage is a right, then look at decison Baker Vs Nelson. Supreme court refused to hear appeal of arguement that said marriage is limited to different sex couples,

  • Does anyone else notice how Brian Brown's mouth goes up on one side when he talks? He looks like he's snarling.

  • Pat Robertson, is that cantankerous old gremlin still alive? This doddering old fool can't wait to bore us with his social regressive comments on every policy change that moves toward equality.

  • @SebastienCade - What you replied to my post makes no sense. Part of the problem with the LGBT side is that if they don't have a valid arguement, they resort to insults. I didn't say anything about the State and religion, just that I believe the State shouldn't have to sanction same-sex relationships. Read my post on the quote from Austin Nimocks for the reason.

  • What is this uniqueness he keeps talking about? I'm pretty sure people used to be forced into marriages based on their families. The couples didn't "choose" to be together like in our current society. Divorce was illegal etc... I love watching him and Maggie. They just embarrass themselves constantly.

  • Hey Brian, why don’t you spend some of your millions of dollars HELPING straight people stay married and leave the gay people alone? Jeez, what a mean guy you are.

PS: Separate but not Equal sucks. Civil Unions aren’t even recognized by the IRS, so you still get taxed as if you weren’t married. Reciprocal Benefits can be challenged in court. Your Will can even be challenged when you die. The ONLY way to ensure your lifelong partner keeps your shared estate is if you are legally MARRIED.

  • National Organization FOR marriage? Does NOM focus on anything other than same-sex marriage? Brian Brown: “I mean, Maggie Gallagher… [who makes big bucks like Brian hurting gays and lesbians] has been working relentlessly on ANALYZING what the breakdown in our, uh, marriage culture has done…. Uh…”

NOM does nothing to help straight marriage. They trick people into donating money so they can pay themselves to ANALYZE so they can fundraise more and pay themselves even higher salaries.

  • A good explanation was given by Austin Nimocks of the Alliance Defense Fund -"The government's interest in marriage is narrow and unique. ... It's never been conditioned upon a couple's ability and desire to find happiness together, their level of financial entanglement, or their actual personal dedication to each other. Marriage laws exist because children are the product of sexual relationships between men and women. And that fathers and mothers are both equally necessary for children.

  • The reverend, if he truly IS a reverend, should read his Bible. No one is saying that LGBT can't form relationships. What is being said is the the state shouldn't have to sanction these unions the same as marriage.

  • @cercis621

Why shouldn't the state? You can't bring up the Bible and mention the state in the same sentence. That's pretty ignorant, as religious marriage simply involves a pastor/minister and a Christian couple. The state only requires you to go to the courthouse. So the right to marriage for homosexual makes complete sense.

  • @cercis621 You've got it wrong, my friend. The state represents ALL the people who make it up. Therefore gays and lesbians are ENTITLED, as members of society, to have their unions recognized by the state. If you don't want to recognize same-sex unions in your church, that's your decision to make. You do not have a corresponding right to decide whose union is or is not recognized by secular society.

  • I love how Sharpton is calm and collected and the closed-minded bigot is all raging and shaking his head and at a loss for words when asked direct questions.

  • lol... because teaching kids at a young age to accept homosexuality and equality is SO WRONG. rofl. Our country is going to SHIT and its not because of the gays, its because of the ignorant ass closed-minded people that are against homosexual marriage.

  • Theses NOM people want it both ways -if it's the people voting, it should be left to the government. If it's representatives voting, it should be left to the people. They'll never be happy until all LGBT are in slave/re-education camps.

  • Brian Brown is so far in the closet he's in Narnia. He cares WAY too much about what two consenting gay adults do in the privacy of their own homes

  • Brian Brown makes about $160,000 per year by being a propagandist for homophobia and straight supremacy. Heck, I'd be a professional mercenary against equal legal rights for gays and lesbians, too!

  • "whenever people have voted... they vote to protect it" Yes, Brian Brown, that is called TYRANNY OF THE MAJORITY you flaming idiot

  • I don't understand why Brian Brown keeps sending me e-mails... I'm a gay Canadian! We've had legalized gay marriage for several years, and gays in the military were a non-issue, both passed through parliament with relative ease , and our country isn't going down the tubes.

In all honesty... I can't understand half of what Americans are bickering about. Too much bible in your government.

  • @gaza2421 Yep, I hope you can procreate...;-) And that is not an issue...

  • @gaza2421 The ironic thing is that Sharpton is a reverend...

  • @gaza2421 Tell Brian too fuck off..

  • Brian Brown makes my gaydar go up. He gets way too emotional about a topic that does not effect him

  • 4:06-4:10 the one question the haters refuse to answer.

  • Marriage hasn't changed at all u guize, women are still property and only you can only marry people of the same race

    Oh wait

  • All the studies show that gay, lesbian or straight parents do pretty much the same. Lesbians do slightly better then straight couples and gays do slightly worse when raising childern. It seems that on average shocks of shocks women do a better job of raising childern on average. but what you have to understand is that the difference is all with in a percent or 2. so basically its the same, so this idea that we need to stop same sex marriage for the children is just outrageous.

  • "Redefine marriage?" Not at all. Lakota chief Crazy Horse had one or two male

spouse(s) and most other Native American nations also had same-sex

marriages. 17th century Fukian Province China, same-sex marriages

between gay men were common. In West Africa, "woman marriage[s]"-a

practice by many tribes. 1552 : In the "History of the Indies,"

Francisco Lopez de Gomara documents men are marrying other men in the

Indies (Caribbean Islands). Ethnographers have documented these marriages.

  • al sharpton is dumb

  • @kellyannabama

True but so are people who vomit over gay marriage.

  • @kellyannabama Brian Brown is a mendacious bigot who rails against American values of freedom and equality.

  • That's why "THE REV", a preacher who supports gay marriage...

  • @Damonbcool You apparently didn't comprehend what Rev Sharpton pointed out to Mr. Brown and that is we as individuals, regardless of our religious/moral beliefs, do NOT have the legal right to impose our said beliefs on others and interfere with the lives of consenting ADULTS. I'm not an advocate for gay marriage, because it doesn't apply to me, so I see it as a non-issue. It'll only become an issue for me if the world runs out of heterosexual men, LMFAO!

  • Brian Brown looks like a fat version of the gay preacher Ted Haggard.

  • Brian Brown looks gay.

  • pat what was the ruin of the holy roman empire? - at one time polygamy was the norm - seems marriage has already been redefined

  • The NOM has been created specifically for the purpose of denying civil rights to same sex couples. There're no other activities going on in this hate group. The more gay marriage is accepted in society, the more NOM will fade into oblivion.

  • In 50 years time, the people who've been resisting to these social changes, will feature on the pages of the history of bigotry.

  • "Traditionalists" such as Mr. Brown here, don't accept the fact that humanity and culture constantely evolves. The institution of marriage in America has been drastically changing in the last 100 years, not to mention other cultural ways of living. For instance, it was unheard of, only 100 years ago, that a woman could vote! Divorce was never heard of in these "civilizations that have collapsed because of homosexuality".... We're not living in a fairy tale here....we're livin in modern culture.

  • IT'S GREAT THAT SHARPTON COULD TAKE SOME TIME OFF FROM BEING A THIEF, A LIAR AND A TAX DODGER TO DISCUSS A MORAL ISSUE......

  • Brian Brown is an insensitive jerk who cannot defend his own cause. If they are protective of the santity of marriage they should worry about divorce. But no, that would affect them so no way. Fuck you bigots!

  • New Jersey is facing money woes? Is that because Chris Christie is eating the state into bankruptcy? I hope he runs in 2013, but not for governor. He just needs to run. A lot.

  • 2 - Marriage was instituted by God himself for the purpose of preventing the promiscuous intercourse of the sexes, for promoting domestic felicity, and for securing the maintenance and education of children.

Marriage has already be redefined. Remember the ''til death do us part?''

  • @jfsfrnd

Not everyone in America is religious.

    lol

  • @AntonBatey I know. I was bringing up the fact that the ''definition of marriage'' at the time of the founding of the country has already been changed. You had to go to court and petition a judge to get divorced.

  • @jfsfrnd

    Well said/

  • 1 - 1828 Websters Dictionary

MAR'RIAGE, n. [L.mas, maris.] The act of uniting a man and woman for life; wedlock; the legal union of a man and woman for life. Marriage is a contract both civil and religious, by which the parties engage to live together in mutual affection and fidelity, till death shall separate them.

  • Marriage is the right to marry the person of your choice - two people marrying. This has been set by Supreme Court decisions.

  • Redefine marriage - like allowing no fault divorce? Why don't your religious hypocrits go pray to your God for forgiveness? Jesus said no divorce - remember? He said nothing about same sex reltionships or same sex marriage.
