That didn't make too much sense. I can't even comprehend what you're writing. Look, I have read the entire Bible. There wasn't a lot there. Certainly not a bottomless sea. His prophecy didn't come true. Concede the point, or at least stop responding with incoherencies.
Both events, he predicted, would happen within that generation's time. Maybe you should read it again. It really is quite clear. The prophecy wasn't fulfilled. Here's another proof that Christ taught that the end of the world would be in his generation's time: his disciples all thought the end of the world would happen in their time. They got that from Christ.
@skotnevins i might have problems with grammar and spelling! but when i said that the Bible is a bottomless sea , they are not my words i just copy them! Saints of the past and the living ones can prove that, read what they say about the Bible! not just a group of books gathered in a single one, but the contains of it! the fact that it contains not only acknowledges of this world (which we do not know yet), and from outside and inside this world too
@skotnevins and to say that Jesus which all Christians believe and know He is our God , lied to us and to those before us? just because you believe a generation is 40 years long?what kind of generation ? i am sure He was talking about the generation of Christians! they will see what He predicted come true, again you are part of that generation even if you are catholic or protestant or anything else
@skotnevins and if it was for the world to end in that generation ,tell me please why the Disciples went through so much troubles and even died for the Gospel in faraway lands? why not just retire in a mountain and wait The Judgement Day?because other people needed to know The Truth that is Jesus Christ! for the generation to come ,or if you like, for the generations to come! words of God are heavy to understand, more when is about prophecies,so understand it! he did not mispredicted
@skotnevins to understand a psalm it takes between 10 and 30 pages of a book! John Hrisostom has several books where he clarify some parts of the Bible!some of them are the Book of Psalms and Mathew's Gospel! to explain 53 Psalms( the others have not been found ) the book has 741 pages! and the Gospel of Mathew's Homily has 1051 pages! so again the Bible even literally explained it takes at home a full book-stand, think about the Apocalypse that John the Theolog wrote.
@myyvaine I have trouble reading what you write because you have trouble writing. Your spelling and grammar are terrible! Yes, I know what the Bible is! How offensive! It's not a, "bottomless sea." It's a compilation of books about things that are holy. Guess what? A generation only lasts about 40 years. When Christ said that this generation shall not pass until ALL these things take place, he was referring to the destruction of the temple and the end of the world.
@foxylord No. He said plainly that he was speaking of that very generation. His profecy didn't come true. Read it again. Matt 24:34, "this generation shall not pass until all these things take place." One of those "things" was his second coming. He didn't come back. The apostles all thought and taught that he would return in that generation's life time.
read well what i say....do you know what the Bible is? it is a bottomless sea !! there are the words of The Holly Spirit and God Himself speaks about it there!!! if Jesus said" this generation of people will see it come true" guess what..you are a part of that generation ! because a type of generations are this way ! first one-from Adam to Noah-second from Noah to Moses-third one-from Moses to David-forth one-from David to Daniel .till Jesus! and we are the generation of Christians
@foxylord That's what I'm saying. Christ states clearly that the generation to whom he was speaking wouldn't die off until his profecy came true, but now they're all dead.
@skotnevins He didn't mean the generation alive then. He is speaking about his 2nd coming, which hasn't happened yet, and then goes on to lay out a few things that will happen. That is the generation he was talking about.
I was a novice at a greek orthodox monastery for 6 years. I learned some greek. I don't think the greek language is relevant to this discussion, because the bible has been properly translated into the english language. It's still plain as day that his profecy did not come true.
Didn't Christ say that the end of the world, the resurrection, the second coming, etc., would happen within his own generation? Didn't the temple get destroyed? The world didn't come to an end, though. What happened? Please, don't say that he meant a generation of believers because that means the believers of that generation.
@skotnevins The Bible uses metaphorical, spiritual language to describe things. And many times things happen as a prefigure of what will happen in the future. The destruction of the temple was indeed a fulfillment of prophecies like Matt 24. The destruction of the temple was truly the end of the "world" (properly translated AGE) of the Old Law. The new aeon is that of the Church, which will end when Christ finally returns to bring a final realization of the New Jerusalem.
@uoitofsogroj I suggest you research the topic of Aramaic primacy of the new testament. You will see that many words were clearly mistranslated from Aramaic to Greek.
@uoitofsogroj I think the word you're looking for is ignorant lol but no it isn't I that is ignorant. I can see that you have not done any research into the original NT, but a lot of better educated people have, and the Orthodox church has accepted Aramaic primacy. It has begun the process of looking at the differences between the two language versions already. That is how they have found the errors in the Greek versions. They have been using carbon dating to age them also.
@uoitofsogroj It is true that after they were written in the original Aramaic they were then transcribed to Attic Greek, because it was a much more widely used as the main international language, but that is where the errors first crept in. Then when they were translated into Latin more errors crept in. Such as the camel through the eye of a needle one. Interestingly the Orthodox church is the only one willing to look more deeply into the Aramaic than any other Christian church.
@skotnevins Jesus was setting out the events that would happen when His return was near and goes on to say that the generation alive during those events shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
