- The SVGA graphics, this game was one of the first PC games I saw that used a higher video resolution, and it used every extra pixel to good use.
- Being able to destroy practically EVERYTHING in a room. I can't remember a game before it that had near as much freedom when it came to destruction.
- The fact that every *normal* door can be blown up, allowing you to bypass many tedious 'fetch the passcode' sections, and it's just awesome that you can.
I had the ps1 version, and even though it really felt like a PC-port and not something built for a console, the core gameplay was so good that I still loved it.
i really enjoyed this game on the pc back in the day its addictive shooting everything in the rooms wasnt there a gun that melted off there skin plasma type thing
I'm definitely going to pick up a copy of this for my Saturn or Ps3 after watching this. I love the non stop action mixed with Fallouts 3/4 view. There was a sequel to this game (Crusader No Regret) but it didn't make it to the consoles.
Anyone know if you can use Dosbox to play the oc version on Windows 7?
@TargetRender You can use Dosbox to play these games, and I agree with the reviewer, the PC version is superior (better controls, graphics & sound), so try to get those if you can.
This game looks bad-ass, like the old Fallout games mixed with Red Faction. That is like the Lord Karnage sandwich, Fallout is like the Mozzerella, Red faction is the Pepperoni, plasma rifles are the basil and the bloodiness is the Mayo that gives the game even more flavor. It just looks so tasty I gotta try it...oh and the sandwich too!
Wow I looked all over to find what game I was thinking of... HOW is this not considered a classic and a staple of all us 20-somethings? This might have been my favorite game of all time. I was obsessed as a 12 year old.
It's a pity they didn't port the sequel No Regret to consoles. Console gamers who didn't own the PC game really missed out. I strongly think the sequel was better than the original.
Nice game. Payed 99$ for it when it came out. I give it an 8.5/10. There were some things i didn't like about it like not being able to reconfigure your keys. i wish they would come out with an FPS version of this game. BTW loved the synthesized music in this game. Long live classic gaming!
Crusader No Remorse is an all time classic. All hail the Silencer & Zurovec's team, for introducing us to arguably the first cover-based shooter. Design towards the end of Crusader is brilliant with open-ended progression. Just wish you got something for killing "the traitor" other than the glee of seeing said person turn into a flaming pile of bones
I STILL have this game for my playstaion, I put it in the ps3 even now and fucking rock out, I have saved games from like a decade ago. Greatest action game ever made.
that sux that origins is no more i would have loved to see a FPS remake of this with online multiplayer. i never had this but i found my cd-rom case to no regret - unfortunately no disc inside =( .
I'm glad I found out the name of this game. I remember seeing it in Target back in the day (when they still had the big PC game boxes) and thought it looked awesome.
I always wanted to play this game back in the day. The ads with the main character just looked cool back then. Seems pretty damn fun. It has an almost "Postal" like quality of humor and violence.
i have the psone and saturn version i have to say that saturn version is superior, fastest loading, the gameplay is faster too and the saturn control really helps the game almost forget that the saturn version doesn´t have the change music problem from the psone version when you pause the game
One of my absolute favorites from the mid 90s, the pc version came with swag like most origin games at the time, including a fold-out poster filled with news about what was going in the game's universe. it also included a little blurb about a new AI called SHODAN. It's the little things that help make games like these so enduring.
For the life of me, I don't know why you don't review 'The great Ultima's of the day' - you seem to have no problem going back to the 80's and 90's console games. Don't know why you hate the PC so much today!
I just bought a saturn memory cart and this game came with it for free! cant wait untill its delivered ,it looks a lot of fun (love red faction btw) I may start doing some Saturn reviews now that my collection is of about 80 titles, oddly enough (is it odd?) I play my Saturn more than I do my 360.. great vid as allways , ;-)
I played this religiously back in the day, also on the Saturn.
An absolutely amazing game, I have some fond memories of it. Anyone remember the super shotgun type weapon that blew your enemies to giblets. Ha, best thing ever!
the game looks like a hybrid of Midway's classic NARC, with the perpective of the original Fallout games, only in realtime action. Add in a red helmeted Boba Fett clone, and you've got a winner! This was also available on the Psone, in addition to the PC and Saturn.
Narc in the arcades was awesome!! Not so much on the NES, but hey we all knew the NES wasn't as powerful and couldn't support those Nice Graphics. Anyways it still was a alright game.
I just got Narc for Gamecube a couple of months ago. It plays pretty much how I remember, but unfortunatly because its an emulation (and not a port) the game is glitchy. This made it very hard for me to beat Mr. Big until I caught a lucky break and the glitches started going my way.
Interesting game. I had never even heard of it. It looks like it uses that campy fmv video actually pretty well. As opposed to a lot of the Sega CD games.
It definitely has a Origin/Syndicate kinda style too.
I don't like when games use a CG video or real video as part of the reward for completing a level or a game. It should be complementary and support the story. This game does it well.
I remember having my mother install this for me through DOS. I just purchased the game, and might do a Lets Play if anyone is interested.
