hello, i really love his song and you've done a fantastic job, i really want to learn this song for a concert at my school, i was wondering if you could tell me the chords you used? because it looks like you used some chords and had a picking pattern, would be great if you could help! i don't blame you if ya don't tell me though!
Thanks for the comments and, yes, original stuff is on myspace. Links from my channel (so you're only 2 clicks away). Going by your moniker there's one you might like called New World Rebel. Its on MrKaputchnic3.
It may have inspired Neil to write 'The Needle and the Damage Done', but he unintentionally ripped off a part of the melody in his song 'Ambulance Blues'
Absolutely beautiful ! It's rare to see a video of a great guitar player who is also a great singer !
By the way, this song especially inspired Neil Young to write "Ambulance Blues". Actually, he copied most of it... the melody of the verse is exactly the same. There is a video somewhere on YT of Neil and Bert singing Ambulance Blues together.
Excellent, mate. Perfect. A superb song suberbly played and I wish I had a voice like yours. I have to learn this. Would you mind telling me the chords you're playing here and the tuning if it's not in standard. You've inspired me.
What a joy to listen to, you are incredible man. I love this song and next to Bert this is the best i've ever heard it played and the singing is equally as good as the playing. Many thanks for posting this.
Ahh! person who doesn't eat meat and is using my account stop it! Well I guess I dont have anything important on youtube so you can use my account if you want, but dont post anything weird... CATAPILLARS!
Camuel... Bought my first guitar in 1968 for £2. Used to play "Needle of Death", but couldn't sing it all the way through as I always cried!!! Tried for years to play 'Angie' but never quite got there. Now 57 and given up I think. By the way, all the best things come from Scotland like Runrig!!I used to live in the Hebrides. Check out new band "Coast"
Very nicely played. This is such a moving song and you do it justice. Bert is the reason I bought my first guitar after I saw the Acoustic Routes documentary back in 91. I got it from Biggars on Sauchiehall Street for £100 and it did me proud.
An excellent song very well done indeed...sadly so true of life today. Keep singing it my friend it might make someone think twice...Thanks for sharing your video
I love bert Jansch - specifically looked for this song on the tube - and found your version. You play and sing wonderfully, and really do it justice. Well done
If i didn't know better, i would say you used to play with the pentangle! Nice job on what is a fantastic song by one of the greats of accoustic music.
other than Bert i've never heard this done better. I play it capoed at the 2nd fret in a G shape, but your way is how it should be played. Like most people Glasgow i remember absent friends when i hear this song, you brought a tear to my eye but thanks for doing so.
Realy Superb, but I wish you would show your face in your vids it just makes the whole watching experience more fun.Your a fine singer guitarist dont be afraid to let the world see you properly.
Regards
Jim Clark

To Druid King: Thank you for posting this song. Ah, you sing so well and play guitar so well! Are you singing in clubs? You should be! Have you done any recording? Any CD? You should with your talent!
Good job! But this inspired "ambulance blues" not "the needle and the damage done." that was inspired by the death of Danny Whitten.

Wonderful job you've done.
Neil also stated the melody influenced him, unbeknownst to him by the time, in writing the melody for "Ambulance Blues"

Didn't neil write his song for a band mate? I mean possibly the idea was set into motion by this song, but it had reason correct?

Really nice cover, may have to play this now based on your chord progression! Vocals and guitar really suited each other well, great work.
There's a great Bert Jansch covers album, featuring Roy Harper singing this, worth checking out.
Thanks again, loved your cover of Strolling Down the Highway too :)
