I hope he stays. He's young enough not to be typecast. I don't enjoy the Moffat era, but I think Smith is good and hope he stays longer than Moffat so that he can get decent scripts, eventually.
i really honestly thawt i waz going to hate the new doctor but i watched it and loved it:) i loved the waay matt smith portrayed the new doctors quirkiness and bubbly energetic personality. it was really brilliant!! but thats just my opinion:P
He means he'll stay as long as they want him, but right now he's only confirmed for the nxt year. After that, Moffat knows. (God you people are retarded)
I am sorry but his series is REDICULOUS!!!!!!! know there are a lot of Matt Smith fans, but WHY WON'T HE LEAVE??!!?!?!? D: I JUST WANT A NEW DOCTOR!!!!!!! Sorry to you Matt Smith fans, but I REALLY just want Steven Moffat and Matt Smith to leave!!!! I want the BBC to get a new head writer and I want that head writer to fix EVERYTHING!!!!!! So again, sorry to Smith fans.
@Gallifreyan1 Hey, just wondering, no offense taken at all but, I'm just curious, what is it that you would want them to fix? Like what would you have different or not have happen? You don't have to answer if you don't want but I'd actually kind of like to hear your opinion whovian to whovian, I promise I won't rip it apart! You can send me a message to if you like :)
@CrumpleHornedSnorkac Not to sound stupid but I want everything to change about it. The Doctor is MUCH too childish, the Daleks are atrocious, the companions make me weep for humanity, the stories are pathetic. Honestly, it isn't Doctor Who any more. It is not the Doctor Who that die hard fans know. This is a Doctor Who made for people who spend their time watching The People's Court and The Days of Our Lives. Steven Moffat should only work on Sherlock. That is what I think.
@Gallifreyan1 So how will Matt Smith leaving benefit you in anyway? It's Moffat and the way he writes him that you have the problem with, Smith only channels what Moffat writes, having Matt Smith replaced will achieve nothing for you anyway, as the person you have a problem with will still be there, if you're going to criticise something (rather ignorantly and lacking in any point), at least give credit where it's due, and blame the right people, you may get it across a little more rationally.
@Gallifreyan1 Ahh, haha ok, thankyou for answering! I know I probably sound really dumb but I kind of hate when I have closed off opinions and I really like all the new seasons, though I admit, I've only seen a little of the originals, and I could honestly not think of a reason why any of it was unsatisfactory and I didnt want to be closed minded about it, and as silly as it is you rephrasing what you'd said before in more words helped to give me perspective. I know this was really weird sorry!
the only reason doctor who is not winning any awards for series five and six is becuase people are not really into sci fi anymore all people want now a days is straight foward drama which is real to life, crime fiction and suspense thrillers are in heavy demand.
@friendsmakingvideos1 No, I wasn't meaning that :D I'd love him to stay on for as long as possible, he's brilliant, but what he says is a bit of a contradiction. He says he has no plans to leave, and then says he only has a year left of it.
@KnightProductionsTM i would assume the actor who plays doctor who has a contract which is a year long, so Matt Smith's has been renewed twice, meaning he's doing/done 3 series. Although he says he doesnt have plans for leaving just yet, his contract will be up and he will be left at the writers/producers mercy to decide if his contract will be renewed again.
I hope he stays. He's young enough not to be typecast. I don't enjoy the Moffat era, but I think Smith is good and hope he stays longer than Moffat so that he can get decent scripts, eventually.

Ok, people keep getting this confused, he's got a year left on his current contract. It seems like he plans on returning. I hope he does.

@Gallifreyan1 The only difference I've noticed is that it's now more serialized (which it was before 2005 anyway), so I don't see any problems. :)
You could elaborate on your points, like why the companions make you "weep for humanity", what makes the stories "pathetic", etc.

@aperson22222 He has a year left in his current contract. He has no plans to leave, so I'm assuming he'll renew his contract in a year.
