I listened to the Memorial Service for Joe Paterno yesterday Jan 26th 2012, - You were included as Fellow alum that represents Success with Honor. I'm native to PA, now living in the Plains of Nebraska, I thought it both interesting & rewarding for you to know this. I believe it will serve to inspire another song.....
I've loved this song sice it was new on the radio. Hearing this reminds me of riding around with my Aunt Doris(DoeDoe to all the kids in the family). She and I were best friends. She passed away in June at the age of 83, and I miss her so much. Hearing this makes me smile and remember the good old days spent with her. She is my gaurdian angel now. Love and miss you so much DoeDoe. Our song.
I did the sound for one of Mike shows when he first went on the road. He showed up early for the sound check and lifted all of the speakers onto the stage by himself.. He is one of the nicest musicians / song writers that I had the pleasure of working with..
I LOVE 90's Country Music the MOST but I am SHOCKED that I NEVER heard of this Country Music Singer nor did I EVER hear this Country Music Song before! I Google Searched 90's Country Music Singers and found the Top 100 Country Music Songs from the 90's and this was #100. It JUST made the list. :)
Why can't country music be like this today? This is such a positive, feel good song. Nothing like that overly polished, pop crap about boys and acne that Taylor Swift constantly puts out.
Mike Reid and Will Robinson have written a new Christmas album called MERRY EX-MAS...all funny songs about being divorced or soon-to-be divorced. Check out "Frosty, my ex-wife" on youtube. Mike is such a great guy!
@MrDallasrulez Did your mom know him? Was he the all-around great guy he seems to be? All-Pro with the Bengals, concert pianist in his spare time, country songwriter -- I think he's still composing for film (?)
@zgravmary he is . a real down 2 earth guy.a cople weeks ago he received an award for outstanding musican from penn state altoona.and his piano teacher when he was a kid handed it to him. he was writing an off broadway play. about a football player killing his wife. but then that o.j. thing happened. so i do not know what happened with that.
He is terrific. What happeded to his son "Old Folks"?? Recorded it with Ronnie Milsap and they both had it on their albums. Can't find it on re-released records or on Lyrics-web sites. Even sent a message to CMT and got no response. Finally bought the 45 on E-bay but the seller wouldn't disclose where he got it. A big mystery for sure.
@MikesMiyu, hi, looked everywhere for this song but can't find it. If you are willing can you send me a mp3 version of it to heinz579@hotmail.com. Thanks and have a great day!
i have family in critcial condition and i needed a song to uplift me and my family as well as friends. Immediately i remembered this song. I'm so glad i found it. i put it on my facebook. Thank You Mike Reid.
This song writer is also in the country music hall of fame for song writers. He wrote many great songs for an assortment of artists, including The Judds, Ronnie Milsap just to name a few.
I am absolutely stunned, I have been looking for this video for 15 years. My grandmother was addicted to CMT and whenever we were together we watched videos. This was a favorite song of both of ours but because of a stroke all I could remember was the image of the girl on the bleachers. My grandmother died around that time and no one else I asked could help me. I was thinking of this song again yesterday and today the first thing that comes up is this song. I can feel someone watching over me.
@katyejanae I can relate to this song at a crucial time in my family's time too. I was a senior in high school at the time, and we were stationed in Germany. Of course, this being early 1991, Desert Shield/ Desert Storm was taking place. Dad's unit shipped out the weekend on Christmas 1990. I don't remember the video, mainly because the only channel we had was the Armed Forces Network. But yeah, like your situation, that song got me through a very tough time in my life.
