  • well, if they are studying the shack in bible class, and giving it away with glowing recommendatiuons, clai9ming it is better than seminary, or life changing, they do NOT take it as fiction. so the claim that it is only fiction is disingenuous at very best.

and if it is not taken as fiction then it must be taken as purported fact. but as soon as that is done it is then rank heresy. it is attempting to smuggle heresy into the church by calling the shack fiction.

  • If you have Jesus in your heart, you can see Jesus in just about anything even if He isn't mentioned by name. But likewise, if Jesus isn't mentioned by name, the author isn't deliberately including Jesus in the book/movie/song and therefore isn't appropriate for Christians to partake of especially if you're a baby (new) Christian or not a Christian at all.

  • To those who disagree with Dr. Youssef, the bottom line is that Christians have a responsibility to hold up all teachings to the word of God, and If it doesn't match "throw it out". Christians also have the responsibility to speak and uphold the truth regardless of how unpopular it is.

  • The shack is preaching universalism, a gender neutral God a false Christ and another gospel. It appeals to "professing" apostate Christians who have been salved instead of of saved. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils;" I Tim 4:1. Just watch as the demonic fantasies in this book become the "new" truth for an apostate church. Ye must be born again. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

  • @mwilson70201 I don't think people care to hear all this. they want to hear people who will tickle their ears. Symptoms of the days we are in...

  • @stop08it Your right. Most professing christians just want to be entertained, petted and pacified. Well there plenty of that around but thank God there are still those who believe and preach the Bible the blood and the blessed hope. Some love to say doctrine is divisive and I say thank God it is. It divides light from darkness, professers from possessers and falsehood from fidelity.

  • Amen! God bless you Dr Youssef for telling the truth!

  • if we assign attributes to God that are not revealed in the Bible, we have created a new god (that is idolatry)

  • you folks are simply the kind of people that drive folks away from Jesus.

  • @moxmox1 if someone can drive someone from Jesus? those driven away were never His in the first place.

  • "almost right but devastatingly wrong"

Comon guys, have your own opinion, but know what you believe. Be discerning.

  • I believe its up to the individual to decide which road to take. I hate it when people try to tell you how to think and be. Just be what God put in your heart to be. Preacher arent the ultimate decider of whats true or not. I remember the pharisees thinking they had it all figured out but Jesus broke down their religious walls.

  • I believe its up to the individual to decide which road to take. I hated it when people try to tell you how to think and be. Just be what God put in your heart to be. • the fact that the book is labeled "fiction" is irrelevant. the author could have written a book that did not contradict scripture. i understand that this book is inspirational, but we are not called by God to be inspired. we are called to glorify Him.

  • It doesnt matter if its not meant to intended as doctrine, or if its a fictional story, it still represents the Lord and what we know and how we relate to him....I think a bit of discernment is called for ....going on the comments here.

  • @NigelSRV How can something fictional represent the Lord? The only thing that can represent the Lord is God Himself. Stop blaming books and start blaming people's own choice to believe in something fictional.

  • @loneherodragon Of course it does, it doesn't matter if it's fictional, many people give illustrations, stories or write books to teach about the Christian life...yes, relating to the Lord. Yes I totally agree that people choose to believe in something they have read as they take it on board, but it is such a weak argument to say it's not meant as doctrine and that the book is not at fault. Anything set out through drama is still representing the truth still as much. That's inescapable.

  • @NigelSRV There's something on the binder that says "fiction" or "non-fiction". Something that says "non-fiction" is meant to be believed and taken as at least mostly fact. Something that says "fiction" is written SOLELY for entertainment value. People who decide to take things from a fiction book and apply it to their lives are weak-minded imbeciles and should be the ones to blame. It's like watching Harry Potter and deciding seriously to become a real wizard.

  • @loneherodragon If it was hollywood or TV yes, but if it's done with the purpose of aiding understanding and encouraging Christians, that is different. The book does make references to God and His being and about peoples relationship with God. Yes weak minded of people to do that but more irresponsible in producing it in that way by people who should know better. Sorry.

  • C'MON people read the WORD of GOD, it's HIS very WORD and MIND.Ehpeasian's 6:10-11...ARMOR yourself's with HIS WORD,so you know what is of ...GOD and what is not of GOD.... than you will know what Youssef is talking about,he is only standing for GOD'S GLORY and defending what is not of GOD's word...... in line with the BIBLE people...... the WORD is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIGHT, it will never lead us ASTRAY. Put it on and you won't stumble and fall into those ditch's. PEACE XO

  • I am so tired of these people who imagine that they don't bring their own complex agendas to "the word of God".That they alone see the truth.

  • I know this may be hard to understand but Christianity is all about FREE WILL. If you don't like the book don't read it but don't hinder the joy that the rest of your congregation could have received because you are attacking this book even though the Author clearly states that it is a book that was fiction and meant for his immediate family.

  • Anything that takes away from the Preachers pockets is Heresy.

  • @rickyd0821 No it's usually what lines their pockets that is. Mr. Young broke the bank too.

  • @rickyd0821 I can see how you or anyone else can make a generalized statement like that because their are unfortunately many out there who preach in that way. However, I do not believe that Youseff is one of those. His ministry helps alot of ppl. Heresy destroys at the fundamentals of Faith. A similar one may look good on the outside but at the core is where the fundamental differences lie.

  • @jgoltz37 It is a good book with a good message. Mr Young is not trying to start a new religion, he is talking about having a personal relationship with the God of Christian religion, The God that Jesus called "The Father". Your problem is that you want to put God in a box. You talk about fundamentals as if it is more important to define God, then it is to love him and have a relationship with him. Religion is about certainty, Mr. Young is talking about actual relationship with God.

  • "You will know them by their love"

You will know them, too, by their fruit.

I testify THE SHACK has brought my family BACK to the church, BACK to Jesus. It spurred them on to LOVE, to FORGIVE. THE SHACK is fiction, and the author makes clear it is not doctrine. But what did it do? Spurred us on to love.

Pharisees. Legalists. We will always have them.

  • @moxmox1

Jesus said that He came to bring not peace but a sword, separating you from your sons/daughters/mothers/fathers/brothers for His word.. if someone came BACK to church because they liked what they read in the Shack? then you treated the Shack as having more authority than the bible..that is the religious spirit you are referring to...MAN's ideas of who God is and not who GOD really is..Bringing God to our standards instead of US going to His.. sad... :(

  • @moxmox1 Re: The Shack, its nice that it brought you and yours back to Jesus. But, the concept of the Trinity in the book is not scriptural. If you walk as a Christian you must follow the way of Christ and that is found in the Holy Bible and not a fictional book. This is not being a legalists. To be a legalist one would be following the OT laws. To follow the words of Jesus is walking the narrow path. God Bless and walk in His way.

  • @moxmox1 what church? the church of satan no doubt! God said he founded one church, what flavor is yours? who started it and when? see how the shack led you astray? God will tell you i dont know you, becuz you are not in HIS CHURCH, the one called ORTHODOX where we eat the flesh and drink the blood of Christ, without which "you have NO LIFE IN YOU" search on here Holy Light miracle all other 'churches' are heretical to the core, this video has a REAL message, if you are not baptized orthodoxFAIL

  • @moxmox1 yeah people take it more than fiction, there's a reason why this sermon is being preached. oh and a person isn't a pharisee because they say something you don't think is important...someone isn't a pharisee if they point people to THE TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD and to Christ instead of fuzzy feelings.

  • I simply do not see the anger that macolyis is talking about. Furthermore, Christs attitude towards people that did, or could mislead others, especially those doing so to his people, as not passive. He took that VERY serious.

Furthermore, anger is not entirely wrong biblically. There is such a thing as righteous anger. Directing that kind of ire at teaching that is bad is very important. IT also seems to me that this is directed at a teaching, and the content, NOT at a person.

  • Fantastic book of fiction that helps depict God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) in a clever and beautiful way.

  • Comment removed

  • Good word Pastor Youssef. If it doesn't tally - toss it.

  • Thank you Michael Youssef for speaking the truth!

  • And yes, I am committed to living a righteous life, and giving leadership of my life solely to Jesus Christ. I trust him implicitly to lead me in the right direction. It is my RELATIONSHIP with him that will bring this about, not my being able to describe theology properly.

Those of you spewing ugly names and condemning people to hell - consider a verse from the Bible "If I have all knowledge, but have not love, it counts for nothing"

  • This book caused me to fall in love with God all over again. The portrayal of God's nature as loving, healing, and restoring moved me to tears.

Those who criticize it either didn't read it, or are threatened by its ability to draw people to God and away from the control of those who must have everyone agree with their doctrine or personal theology.

  • @swampratzozzle I don't think it has anything to do with people's "doctrine or personal theology", it has to do with the fact that the Bible is the Word of God, and we are counselled to check everything by the scriptures. If it isn't in line with the Word of God, then it just isn't correct. Simple.

  • He who has ears to hear, let him hear, as the Bible says. First of all, those who think that they have all their theology spot on, and base their acceptance by God on that kind of thinking, are a sad lot.

this book clearly makes a person feel God' unconditional love, his intentions to make us whole, and his undying desire to draw us to himself.

It doesn't matter if someone extrapolates all kinds of silliness like universalism, or defines the Trinity in a different way than you think is right.

  • Read the book and make up your own mind as to what you think. Geez people. Calm down. The Shack is not the BIBLE. it is a fictional book and I personally thought it was great and I learned a lot from it, I learned a little more about forgiveness, how to deal with the most horrific pain you can imagine (losing a young child to a torturous murder) and also about how the relationship with God is and can be life changing.

Use the brain God gave you. read it and decide for yourself.

  • @galaxydreams2

Fiction means NOT TRUE..how do you LEARN from something not True.. you did not learn those things through scripture with the Holy Spirit as your interpreter? really? Wow! what does that tell you? The bible is enough..and it's authority and WORD never fades...the WORD never comes back void.. Jesus is THE WORD .. to know His word is to know HIM.. if you did not know HIM when reading the WORD.. then who do you really know now through a work of untruth (FICTION)????

  • @Chey60 Yes i learned from it. Sorry that makes you mad lol! The man who wrote it is a Christian and i learned some things from his book. Is his book better than the bible? um... no and what in the world did i say that would make you think thats what i meant?? geez, calm down "sister" u dont have to attack me just because you dont like the fact that i enjoyed this book.

  • Read it, yes. But, read it and compare it to the truth of scriptyre - then decide for yourself. You are flippant in your verbage. truth is all that matters, wether portrayed in an allegory or not - it still must be verified through prayerful comparison to the truth of the word of God. You're right. It is not the bible and the bible is where we find the final authority of truth.

  • @hecaresforyou i am flippant with my verbage? not really sure what that means. As I said.... the shack is not the bible. I am pretty sure that people are aware of that. Its a FICTIONAL book. Are Christians not allowed to write fictional books? geez lol some people are nuts.

  • wow! sounds like you've got some rather serious personal issues that need to be resolved, unfortunately I'm not a phychiatrist, so it won't be me that helps you through them. I'm fairly sure that it would be utterly pointless entering into a debate with you on this or any other subject until you make some headway in resolving them. Still, I genuinely wish you luck in such an endeavour.

  • Take a look at the size of that place, talk about having a vested interest in the security of the bible. The Shack is a good book, don't let this guy tell you what you can and can't read. Use your God given intellect to make up your own mind. It really is that simple.

  • @mojosabien Anyone with intellect realizes that God did not give it to them and they also recognize this book for the piece of supermarket shelf trash it is. I am an atheist and I read the book from cover to cover because I made an agreement with a Christian friend. It was comparable to choking on vomit without spitting it up. It wasn't the subject matter as much as the absolutely horrible writing that made this such a chore. BTW, Christian friend has not upheld her end of the bargain.

  • As a follower of Christ alone, I could not and would not waste time and money on a book written about God from a person who did not portray Him as in the Word...period. The author of this book believes in Universalism and that's not scriptural and diabolically opposed to the Word. So what could he possibly write about that would change a believers life. Give me a break! His words are so heretical and I personally don't understand why a follower of Christ would support such a thing.

  • Comment removed

  • I would rather know how God views it than man.

  • Wow. If anyone has ever wondered why there are so many denominations of Christianity, they need only check the comments section of this video. Even the author and the publishers are fighting it out in court.

It is sad that so many of the unsaved do not even consider following Jesus because of the behavior of Christians that they see all around them (myself included).

The Enemy must love it when Christians do his work for him. Geez, I guess I sound pretty judgemental also.

  • I have to admit. I had trouble theologically with the shack when I first tried to read it. I just could not dismiss Gods use of the book for His purposes.

  • I am a long-time Christian, and I LOVED The Shack. It did not deceive me at all. I know who I am in Christ. It offers a wonderful message of love and grace. I just don't understand why so many "religious" people want to pick it to pieces and rag on it. I guess they just don't get it.

  • Macolyis. Your hate reveals your heart. God does not need you to defend him. You can only be as loving as the god you believe in. That god you represent is not recognizable. Lean not on your own understanding of him. You make your god to small.

  • @ele, Because I agree with some of the JW's beliefs about the resurrection, that doesn't mean I am JW anymore than you believing in some of Calvin's doctrines, makes you a Calvinist! I study the Bible & believe what it SAYS, & do not give regard to traditions of men! A FUTURE resurrection of the just & unjust is what is clearly taught in scripture! All you have is traditions of men & a few misinterpreted vague passages to support the idea of souls going immediately to heaven or hell upon death!

  • @ele, My beliefs are based on what the scriptures SAY! I look at ALL the Bible, whereas you zero in on a very few select passages & try to twist them to fit your ideas!

YOU are the one who is wrong, on MANY MANY issues!

My God is love, but what you don't understand, is that true love does not accept & tolerate that which is EVIL! A God of love CANNOT approve of evil! A God of love will NOT let those practicing what is wicked & abominable who do not repent go unpunished! God requires REPENTANCE!

  • @ele you are the one ignorant of the Bible, Jesus said we can know what is in a mans heart by WHAT PROCEEDS OUT OF IT! WE CAN KNOW A TREE BY IT'S FRUIT!

"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies"Mt15:18

"Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit."Mt7:17

    Your FRUIT is EVIL!

  • @ele I'm sure my beliefs which are BASED ON WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY SAYS would seem VERY strange to vile abominable children of Satan like you, who absolutely HATE GOD, HATE THE BIBLE, HATE SOUND DOCTRINE, & LOVE TRADITIONS OF MEN taken from HERETICS who merged SUN WORSHIP into apostate Christianity! The Jesus you love is an IDOL you have crafted in your own vain wicked imagination! Your Jesus doesn't judge, but accepts unrepentant sodomites, thieves, blasphemers, liars & murderers with open arms!

  • @macolyis The Bible says Jesus died for these sinners. That would mean he accepts them with open arms. He asked the Father to forgive the murderers who nailed him to the cross and were mocking him. When vile sinners come to him, he washes them clean and saves them. Jesus himself was criticized for eating and drinking with known sinners. I want to be just like him and do the same thing. I want to win all these people for Christ.. How many are you winning to Christ with your anger?

  • @ele, You need to get your theology right you filthy perverse son of Satan! Man is WICKED, you Are WICKED! You hate the true God of scripture with all your heart & being! You hate God as much as Satan himself does at the very core of your being! There is no way a heinous God hating abominable BLASPHEMER like you could EVER come to love the true God or go to Him .. Unless He fundamentally CHANGED your very nature! It would be absoluetly IMPOSSIBLE for a son of Satan like you to do it on your own!

  • @ele12957returns Could not agree more! Thanks for the backup!

  • Dangerous!?? yeah right. That book gave me hope...Christians are falling apart because their leaders are crooked. Some anyways.

  • @ele I'm not an accuser of the brethren. YOU are not a brother, but a HERETIC! Titus3 is talking about those BORN OF GOD who have the Holy Spirit! One with the Holy Spirit will have his very nature changed & be a NEW CREATION! One born of God will be conformed to the IMAGE of Christ, because a SUPERNATURAL work of regeneration has been done!

"He did save us, through a BATHING OF REGENERATION, & a RENEWING of the Holy Spirit"Tit3:5

He saves the ELECT by REGENERATION & RENEWING of the Holy Spirit!

  • @ele I'm glad my preaching causes "such havoc" among filthy wicked heretics such as yourself! If I was well accepted by you & your ilk, I would know that I was doing something VERY WRONG!

Children of the devil will HATE those telling them the truth & reproving their wicked deeds!

The truth is you HATE the God of the Bible & you love an IDOL that you have crafted after your own evil & wicked heart, a false god that does not judge sin, but accepts open sinners practicing what is vile & ABOMINABLE!

  • @ele12957returns Dear God! I KNOW! Its people like him that give Christians a bad rap! The book is truly a work of art! It opens up so many doors to the mind

  • Comment removed

  • ele12957returns, Is a wicked son of Satan who thinks grace is a license to sin & be saved anyway, & has no problem with those who make IDOLS & calls them God!

  • @ele, Yes in an age where the WHOLE WORLD follows after Satan, my actually believing what the Bible says, instead of FILTHY SATANIC TRADITIONS OF MEN, would seem strange to abominable sons of hell like you!

You still never explained Thess 4:16-17, which CLEARLY says the DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE & meet Jesus in the clouds! This poses a BIG problem for you, because YOU claim the dead in Christ are already in Heaven & Christ will bring them with Him from Heaven! Do they meet THEMSELVES in the air?

  • @ele Actually it's YOU who are more like a pharisee than me, because you forsake the commandments of God, for the sake of your vile filthy abominable TRADITIONS!

"Thus you have made the commandment of God of NO EFFECT by your TRADITION. HYPOCRITES! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME"Mat15:6

God tells you to make NO GRAVEN IMAGE & you love a man who makes an IDOL of a black woman!

  • Asian women on the street lushfmlk.info

  • Stupid people always think they are right- that is why they are stupid. If God is who He is then He will use this book regardless of what any christian thinks about it. If He can only be-say-or do that which most christians limit Him to-then they have created the worst idol of all. Youssef is no different- His pride is his idol.

  • Comment removed

  • @prhea1st God is HIMSELF & He is as He REVEALS Himself in the SCRIPTURES! Taking human women & calling them God, is making a GRAVEN IMAGE! You are making a god after your own filthy vile perverse abominable LUSTS, who appeals to your FLESH! You want a TAME god that YOU control, NOT the God of scripture who is absolutely SOVEREIGN over your every breath & who has an absolute standard that He DEMANDS you obey! REPENT of your FILTH & IDOLATRY or BURN IN TORMENT in the lake of FIRE! REPENT! REPENT!

  • Here is a video that breaks down the Theology of The Shack:

    gci.org/yi/kruger69

This website also has 3 interviews with Paul Young regarding the book.

    gci.org/category/people/william-p-young

  • If the book changed my life and helped me start a new relationship with God then i dont see how it is a bad book at all. I also dont understand why this sermon is directed towards this book. If his job is to "protect the flock" and teach NOT pop phsycology and or his ideas, then his sermon should not have been directed toward anything other than what is in the word. Not a book. Anything other than that originates from HIS ideas. That was a very oxymoronic statement. What a lame pastor

  • @BenLukeMartin The book the pastor is preaching against, is VILE IDOLATROUS FILTH! If you can't see that, then you are OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL & you DO NOT KNOW CHRIST! Christ is going to say He NEVER KNEW YOU & to DEPART from Him ye WORKER OF LAWLESSNESS!

What you want is a TAME god that does not judge sin! You want an IDOL that YOU craft in you own vain WICKED imagination that TOLERATES that which is ABOMINABLE to the TRUE God!

You are only DECEIVING yourself! God DEMANDS complete REPENTANCE!

  • @macolyis Ok apparently you didnt understand my comment. YOU are no one to say that my father is the devil nor are you anyone to judge what is vile and idolatrous filth. You obviously lack good judgment. I know you havnt read the book because your throwing all these accusations that the book doesnt even mention! Everyone who didnt walk out of that church during that sermon is a RELIGIOUS MORON!

  • @BenLukeMartinez, Yes I can say you are of your father SATAN, because the word of God makes CLEAR how I can know a child of the devil, from a child of God! A child of God will practice RIGHTEOUSNESS & NOT practice SIN! 1Jn 3:7-11 Making God out to be a black woman is IDOLATRY, it is worshiping an IMAGE of Him that you have created in your own wicked vain vile imagination!

Just the fact that you support this book PROVES YOU ARE A FILTHY CHILD OF SATAN! A Spiritual man JUDGES ALL THINGS! 1Cor2:15

  • @macolyis THE AUTHOR IS IN NO WAY ATTEMPTING TO PROVE THAT GOD IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN! IF YOU WOULD DO YOUR DAMN HOMEWORK AND REEAAAAAAD THE BOOK THEN YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT GOD ONLY TAKES THE FORM OF A HUMAN IN ORDER TO BREAK A MANS (RELIGIOUS) POINT OF VIEW. THE BOOK DOES NOT AND REPEAT DOOOOOEES NOOOOOOOT SUGGEST THAT GOD IN REALITY IS A BLACK WOMAN AND THAT WE MUST SEE GOD AS A BLACK WOMAN. YOU NEED TO DROP YOUR IGNORANCE AND PICK UP SOME WISDOM BEFORE JUDGING ANYONE!

  • @Ben, I know what the author is trying to do. He is trying to make an IMAGE of God people can RELATE TO, which is IDOLATRY! Hindus do not believe the statute representations of Krishna, Shiva , Vishnu, Brahma etc. are actually like those "gods", & Catholics do not believe their images are really like Jesus & Mary etc, The images are meant to give people something to focus on while they pray!

Making an image of God that you can relate to, is making a FALSE god; & IS IDOLATRY leading to DAMNATION!

  • @macolyis LIES LIES LIES... Isnt satan also the father of LIARS? You cannot precieve what the author is trying to do because you havnt read it! Thats why you keep insisting that the book is forcing adultry into human minds. I DO NOT RELATE GOD TO AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN AND I DO NOT THINK OF AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN WHEN I PRAY THEREFORE IT I AM NOT COMMITING IDOLATRY.

  • @Ben If you don't relate to God as an African woman, WHY would you love a book that BLASPHEMOUSLY portrays God as an African woman? What the book does is takes a FICTITIOUS character people can understand, & says "this is GOD'!

What if people took Yoda from star wars & said he represents God & helps bring people to Christ? Would calling Yoda God be IDOLATRY? YES IT WOULD! It's crafting a FALSE image from human imagination & BLASPHEMOUSLY calling it God, which is the very THING the book is doing!

  • @macolyis Im wasting my time with someone whos pea-brain needs everything to be repeated to him. The book does not say "this is God" Read the book and then open your mouth. You cannot criticize ANYTHING unless you do your research on it PERIOD.

  • @BenLukeMartinez, I don't have to read the book to know it is IDOLATROUS VILE FILTH OF SATAN! Calling God a black woman is BLASPHEMY! You are going to scream & burn in the lake of fire if you do not repent of your satanic perversion & filth! REPENT, YOU WICKED FILTHY ABOMINABLE SON OF SATAN!

  • @macolyis Hahaha Your a J-O-K-E.

  • @macolyis That was really intense.

  • If the book changed my life and helped me start a new relationship with God then i dont see how it is a bad book at all. I also dont understand why this sermon is directed towards this book. If his job is to "protect the flock" and teach NOT pop phsycology and or his ideas, then his sermon should not be directed toward anything other than what is in the word. Not a book. Anything other than that originates from HIS idea. That was a very oxymoronic statement. What a lame pastor

  • the shack is a terrible book leading millions to Hell. There is a reason why Oprah likes it and it's the number one seller at the local "Christian" book stores. Jesus said that just a few will enter into eternal life in heaven. And most "Christians" who have read the book said that the book is a good book...they don't know the difference. It's a shame.

  • @guylacelle : Im not defending the book, but "to hell" ?? Really? Show me one pastor who is infallible. Just one. Also, I dont think people base their complete spiritual opinions & views on reading one book (at least those who can think for themselves). With you logic, I guess since I like listening to Led Zeppelin Im going "to hell" too? Here's a little unwarranted wisdom: people, in general, ARE FALLIBLE, that includes Y*O*U

  • @hazor777 this book is terrible and deceives people...period. True Christians understands that this book and, most "Christians" books today deceives, and Satan loves it. I am saved and I rejoice that God gives me His discernement to know HIs truth. Praise the Lord.

  • @guylacelle : Like I said, Im N*O*T defending the book, but to throw the assumption around that people are going to hell if they read it -and lets assume a Christian unwittingly believes some of the false beliefs in the book, BEFORE, they get a better grasp of the truth in the Bible, are they still going to hell? Oh, and stop your proclaiming that yer saved, that's not the "issue" here - it's your own self rightousness - get it?

  • God is Good ! He wants to for give the lost siners as you and me are - and don't let to keep you in fear...reading a book that is good or you say what the GOD not as good as it is writen in this book? Let me tel you: GOD is even better than it is written anywhere! "Don't be afraid!" Jesus say offten! Read the book and see he did it too and he did not like it. So what we need diffrent things to heal. A man with six children had much more experience than a peacher - I think.

  • if there is a god , hes most likely looking down and shaking his head and asking him self , what the fuck is wrong with these people

  • So sad.

Dr Youssef seems to overlook the chief claim made by Mr Young -- "The Shack is FICTION!! It clearly is NOT -- and is not puported to be -- The Bible!

  • People have no problem with The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe portraying a lion as a Christ-like figure. But get all in a frenzy over this book. Sad. If Christians devoted as much energy to reaching the lost as they do in attacking one another, we'd have a different world indeed.

  • @jchardy316 seriously i never understood how the lion , the with and the wardrobe how all tied in to be Godlike or Christian like.. I watched it at a Christian school when i was younger and i never understood that movie.

  • @jchardy316

I think in general Christians don't have a problem making allusions that the bible itself makes. Once you make an allusion not found anywhere in the bible, eyebrows get raised. So if you allude to Christ being a lamb or lion, you're generally in the clear.

  • @jchardy316 yes and no, for false teaching (doesn´t matter if it is about a wardrobe or a shack) must be confronted and not covered up by "love". The Unity is in Christ and his Teachings in the bible which must be preached in the singelness of its truth, as he is saying. Today we live in a world of half truths, this is horrible and God dishonoring and by this the fruitfulness of our "Gospel" is worthless.

  • @jchardy316 The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe. is an allegory, not to say that christ is a lion, but he is represented by the powerful and majestic lion. While in the shack, God IS an african american woman named papa. while the author states that he wanted to remove God from being restrained to a box. God is not an african american woman, nor is he a man. He is the all powerful creator of all, he was and is and is to come. That, is outside the box.

  • @jc4you , I am so sorry that you are deceived & held in bondage by Satan! Aslan is NOT Christ! Aslan is the sun god! CS Lewis was a PAGAN! If you think Aslan is Christ; or is even an allegory for Christ, you have NOT BEEN BORN OF GOD; & you are an IDOLATER!

Alan LED, approved of & SANCTIONED, pagan gods that are an ABOMINATION to the true God! ASLAN IS THE DEVIL! Do you understand that? Even his victory over the witch & winter goes back to pagan SUNWORSHIP!

I am so sorry for you. REPENT! REPENT!

  • @macolyis hahaha dude lay off the heroine. Aslan as a complete allegory of Christ, Lewis said it himself. Youve obviously never read any of his books, I have read several. He was a born again christian. Read Mere Christianity. Understand your subject before you rant unintelligably about it and get some real facts.

  • @jc4you, On the contrary I've read ALL the Narnia books & was seduced into CS Lewis' PAGAN filth early on as a child!

Lewis did imply Aslan is an allegory for Christ; but Lewis also considered APOLLO to be an "archetype" of Christ & didn't see anything very wrong with WORSHIPING his IMAGE!

Lewis was a PAGAN & the Narnia books are FILLED with PAGANISM & give glory to PAGAN gods!

In Prince Caspian p.152 ASLAN is leading a pagan orgy of BACCHUS; proving Aslan is really the DEVIL! You are DECEIVED!

  • Comment removed

  • @jchardy316, If those people were true Christians they would have a BIG problem with The Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe! CS Lewis was a PAGAN! He still loved pagan deities, & they are all through The Chronicles of Narnia! In Prince Caspian there is a big orgy of Dionysus with ASLAN LEADING! Lewis portrayed pagan gods which the Bible reveals as DEMONS 1Cor10:20 as the GOOD GUYS & FRIENDS TO ASLAN!

Aslan has more in common with the sun god than with Jesus, & is an IDOL; like the "god" in The Shack!

  • @macolyis YOU ARE DECIEVED! have you ever read the books of CS Lewis besides Narnia? Mere Christianity? The Abolition of Man? The Problem of Pain? He was no pagan. You have shown yourself to be extremely ignorant. I have read many of the works of Lewis and pagan is the last thing he was. And your comparisons of Aslan to the sun god is ludicrous. Jesus is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. The things you repeatedly state make no logical or theological sense, Stop creating controversy over nonsense.

  • @jc4you, Yes I have read other works of CS Lewis & I enjoyed particularly His book "The Case for Christianity". CS Lewis used to be one of my favorite authors, but that was before I was truly born of God & learned what it means to be a true believer! CS Lewis showed by his fruit he WAS NOT A BELIEVER & he DID NOT KNOW CHRIST! YOU are the one deceived! It is TRUE Jesus IS the Light of the world & the LIGHT has no fellowship with darkness! Aslan was a FRIEND to pagan gods, PROVING ASLAN was SATAN!

  • @jc4you No I will NOT stop creating controversy, because if I did not create controversy among heathens like you who have no problem with pagan FILTH, I am not being a brother & properly ministering to you! As things stand, you're an IDOLATER headed to destruction & don't even realize it!

Don't you know; "Satan himself is transformed INTO AN ANGEL OF LIGHT. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers are transformed into MINISTERS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS" 2Cor11:13?

    You have accepted ANOTHER JESUS!

  • @macolyis Your becoming laughable at this point. I'm a senior in highschool and it is apparent that my knowledge of theology is greater than yours. I never claimed to worship Aslan, Aslan is a character in a book not a real lion in case you didnt know. Narnia is what is called an allegory. It is an allusion to Christ. Lewis' fruit is that he was one of the best theologians of our time and through his exteremely intelligent and logical writings he brought many people to Christ.

  • @jc4 I didn't mean you directly worship Aslan, but you love the kind of "god" portrayed in the Narnia books & "The Shack"! The Jesus you love approves of SIN, so you've accepted ANOTHER JESUS!

CS LEWIS was a HEATHEN who never really accepted Christ! Lewis thought of APOLLO (the sun god) as being an "archetype" of Christ & didn't think it would be "very wrong" to worship his image!

The Narnia books portray pagan orgies of BACCHUS as GOOD THINGS, with Aslan LEADING! Aslan was an allegory of Satan!

  • @macolyis Please cite your sources.

  • It's amazing that most people who speak against the Shack have never even read it. It's usually based on what they've heard said bad about it. They also never read it from the author's perspective. This book is not a heresy. It's not full of lies of skepticism. Though this book is NOT the Bible, it does take Biblical truths and makes them easier to understand. Young does an amazing job of making the book feel real so that we can relate to it, and as a result relate to the character.

  • @Rkelly3454 I have read it. And I can tell you, that the book IS heresy. Unfortunately, only those who are saved, ie those who have a personal relationship with GOD through the HOLY SPIRIT, will be able to discern this truth, because JESUS promised us that the SPIRIT will lead us into ALL TRUTH! This is not to belittle you in any way, and my prayer is that GOD will help you to real salvation, so that your spiritual eyes will be opened! God bless!

  • @AntonBosch Wow, so you're telling me that your judgment for someone being saved or not is whether they believe this book is heresy or not? That's quite unbelievable. Salvation comes through faith, and faith in Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way to the Father except through Him. Your basis for heresy sounds quite like that of the Pharisees. Why can't Christians today read ANYTHING other than the Bible and get something out of it that helps them grow in their relationship with God??

  • @Rkelly3454 Anytime some Christian reads something that's not the Bible people want to deem it "heresy." As for my salvation, i know and believe i am saved. How do i know? Because my actions and the fruit of my relationship with God prove that. James says faith without actions is dead. Is your life showing people the nature of God? Are you living a life of love for others? Just curious, what is it exactly in the book that has you believing its heresy?

  • @Rkelly3454 You clearly didn't read what I wrote. I'm using the book to determine whether someone is saved or not. I'm saying that if you are truly saved, which means the HOLY SPIRIT is living in you, you will discern the truth about the book. This is because as Jesus promised us, the Spirit will lead us in all truth. As for the heresies in the book, it is much too long a discourse to publish here. Maybe we can email? I rather enjoy discussions on faith issues.

  • @AntonBosch So would you be saying then that if if someone were to believe that the shack has some biblical truths and truths about God then they really don't have the Holy Spirit living in them? Obviously you are totally against the shack any anything written in it, and as such have completely shut God out from revealing anything about Himself through it to you. Isn't God a God who can speak to His children through anything? I think it comes down to us allowing Him to and us believing He can.

  • If God used a donkey can't he use a book? So much of the church is quick to deem something "not of God," when in fact God uses the "foolish" things of the world to shame the wise.

  • @Rkelly3454 Wow, so you're equating this book with the word of God??? Very sad indeed.

  • @gtrjunky Well you OBVIOUSLY didn't read what i wrote, because i clearly said "though this book is NOT the Bible" it does take Biblical truths and simplify them so that we can better understand concepts such as the Trinity, Jesus, Forgiveness, and etc.. People are so paranoid of saying that anything is of God these days that they automatically deem everything NOT of God. Why wouldn't / couldn't God use a book to speak to people, other than the Bible? He's not closed off to just communicating

  • to us through the Bible. Do you believe God speaks to people today? And I mean in an audible voice or through the Holy Spirit? In the same way that God DOES speak to His children, for Jesus says that "His sheep hear His voice," He can use ANYTHING to speak to anyone at anytime. He's everywhere, and holds everything together. I believe God wants to take us out of our boxes of understanding and break the normality of the church today.

  • @Rkelly3454 God doesn't use false doctrine to communicate with people. According to Hebrews, in these last days God has spoken to believers by His Son. So, yes God speaks...everytime we open His word.

  • Comment removed

  • @gtrjunky Well I'm pretty sure that I'm done having this discussion, seeing that you will continue to be hard towards the topic, and not open to a thing i have to say. God bless you man.

  • @Rkelly3454 what..the gospel wasn't simple enough? it shouldn't have taken a book for someone to WANT to love God or WANT to follow Christ more..what it did was appeal to the flesh of man so that they'd want to come into the church.. and accept God.. but they didn't accept Him for who HE is and WHAT He represents.. otherwise they would have believed and followed Christ through the gospel.

  • @Rkelly3454 Sorry, typo. I'm NOT using the book to determine............

  • Jesus warned the disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. The same warning applies to allowing the leaven of the world's philosophies, the world's religious ideologies into our lives. Beware of anything but finding the pure milk of God's word. The Shack is but one of the Lords strange works by which he is separating the sheep from the goats as he spoke of in Isaiah. Joshua exhorted: choose you this day who you will serve! As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Who is with us?

  • For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Tim 4:4

Call it fiction, call it fable, it is all the same. When the heart's itching ears are only satisfied by fables that tell lies about God, that heart is in great darkness. It is also in great danger.

  • 2Thess 2:10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

  • The Lord warned us that the deception in the last days would be so great that it would almost have the power to deceive even the very elect themselves (Mt 24:24).

False prophets and false Christs can teach only one thing: lies (fables, fictions and myths) made to have the appearance of truth. Fables that are so tender in nature; fiction so moving in its narration, and myths made believable as fact. But they are all counterfeits, made to look like; thus they are antichrist (counterfeit gospels).

  • God is in every place not only inside building. The real church is in and out of each living being and to have Jesus and God with us depend on how we think, feel and how much love we are able to accept and to give. Jesus came in flesh and bones also in order to feel what His beloved people feel when living on Earth. That is why God understand our limitations to hold Him as He wants. Let´s be patient to each other.

  • Bella, you say "man of God." I say "kook"!

  • This is one of the reasons I stay away from "CHURCH"...

  • the shack is in no way promoting idolatry, God does strange and awesome things and moves in many different ways. Many of the things God did in the bible would not fit in our traditional church settings and would today be refuse. God moves outside our church boxes. Yeah God!

  • I was hoping he wouldn't go there! He is the one afraid to think out the box stuck in tradition.

  • Wonderful book, even though a work of fiction I would recommend it . This book shows the author is drawing from his intimate relationship he has with his heavenly Father, he reveals parts of Gods nature that doesn't come from spending hours in front of a commentary or sitting in the front row of the church for years or even fasting and praying but from excepting and believing in the finished work of Jesus on our behalf and resting in Him not in our abilities.

  • Where is this kook?

  • @doothless ..this "kook" is a true man of God.

  • Hey Michael, do you believe that your wife loves you?

Do you believe that Jesus loves you?

Do you believe that Jesus wants a relationship with you?

Do you have a relationship with your wife?

Are you made in the image of God?

Then why don't you find some parallels in my last few lines of text and spend some time talking with Jesus, rather than just studying Jesus.

It takes a good theologian to stuff up the "good news" of Jesus, and you sound like one of the best...!!!

  • Christians have to be alert because our enemy the devil, as the word of God says, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The devil even knows the bible better than any human being in the world and if necessary he will not hesitate to use it to deceive us & twisted around. He will use anything/anyone to even preach us 99.9 gospel and make us fall in the ditch with that .001%. Believe it or not if we are not all the way inside we might run the chance to be left behind.

  • "I am the under Shepard..." think I'll toss it out :-)

  • That was a heart felt heart break. Hope some in your church find it necessary, how ever hard it may be for them, to bring some light to your errors! What are you so afraid of? The few moments of - I hope not a Sunday sermon - speech that this clip brought, brought thoughts of The Emperors New Clothes to mind... That you were bare. Why can't you, for example use the amazing drawing of Gods omnipotence and omniscience, and the implication that that has in our lives, in stead... That God is Great!

  • I just finished "The Shack". I thoroughly enjoyed the book. However, all that reads it must remember one thing. It is FICTION... NOT biblical teaching. (as was stated in this video) That is just a fact. If you do any research on this book you find out it was not originally written for publication, but as a gift for the writers children. It was then passed around and eventually was published due to popularity.

  • hahahhaha JErk

  • KTkomedy: I'm a fan of The Shack, and chuckle at how these minister and such bash the book, without even fully reading it or choosing to look at the context of it. You would assume adequate research would be done in prep. for a message to your congregation. My question for you is, what to you think was "added" to the Bible in your comment below? Also, what is you backing for such statement?

  • It's a book! A novel! It's not scripture! It doesn't even pretend to be scripture! The author openly acknowledges it's a work of fiction! Ultimately, it is a story stemming from the heart of one man's frustration and disengagement with his experiences of some elements within the church of Jesus ... and it resonates with many many people. This arrogant, unyielding, and insensitive interpretation of the novel by Youssef underscores all that is wrong with the church of Christ.

  • @karlmalcolm "It's a book! A novel! It's not scripture!" Is that a reason to allow half-truths and misrepresentations about God Himself as well as His word?

  • @karlmalcolm Even though it is openly called a fiction, it still influences the way readers think. I think "The Shack" and "The Message" are two of the most dangerous and missleading books in print today.

  • @masonry220 ...Totally agree with you. The message distorts scripture and the shack distorts the Trinity.

  • @masonry220 I am so glad someone else recognized The Message as being a flesh filled scripture..appealing to the flesh of man instead of the spirit..just like the Shack..thank you :)

  • @Chey60 the message is way worse than any of us could have thought. shows how cunning satan is...do a search for "message bible mystic mess" we are truly in the last of the last days.

  • @karlmalcolm - Youssef seems a good actor afraid of loosing his bread profession. When posting pictures like they did behind the pulpit or alter or what ever you call it in a "theater church", then there is no reason to be overly emotional about your attack. I find it fake! And thus appreciate your comment!! The Shack to me is one big great parable, helping me to understand! And those against it haven't understood unconditional love - and haven't gotten the wits to think for them selves...

  • Ya know, if you say that "if something has a hint of lie and mostly truth, it's all tainted...which I believe in a sense a correct statement....BUT you better measure this same standard against the bible cause there are things that were "added" that were never in the original manuscripts...so does that mean the whole bible is a lie? No...so how can u grade another book at that same standard, when they were both written by men...

  • I am sad to hear of Youssef's opinion on the Shack. I think he may need to take an extended break from his ministry but then business is business right?

  • This guy looks like Satan look a his face!!!!

  • @pegado1967 What does Satan look like?
