Damn people, the owner, TWICE, stated that it was an omni. not an o24 model. The 81 model for example had a long hatch back but had a pretty wedged shaped nose. the 024 had a flat nose. Regardless, this is an omni bodied purpose build race car. Not an actual 81 4 cylinder piece of shit dodge omni. Let's be clear. That was a race car, not a regular crappy 81 dodge omni.
no, it's not an 024, that was the later version the horizon mizor I think they called it, anyway, that wasn't a real omni. that was a tube chassis race car with a dodge omni body on it. and was likely all plastic at that. I have a 4link tube chassis car with an 81 dodge omni body on it. That doesn't make it a real Omni. People just don't get that. they'll ask me how I fit such a big engine in that little dodge omni. LOL
its a full drag car with a shit ass omni body. nothin mechanical on this thing is stock or near close to stock. dunno why everyone is talkin shit like its this dudes daily.
actually i couldnt distinguish what it was, when i looked at the pro gas results i saw "dodge omni" in the slot with a 8 second pass. none the less, its a mean car
Grand national blocks arent rated for that power. 85raminator is right. Anyone can built chev, BUT it takes a REAL mechanic to built FORD. Who cares if parts for chev are cheaper you can make more HP out of a 351W block that you can four bolt main 350 blocks, we do it all the time; 550HP with no blower on a built 351W. Good luck getting that out of a chev 350 with-out forced induction.
Thats not hard at all... just need a monster cam and heads... i've seen a 355 put down 539 on 195 cc heads with a baby cam.... so go hump your blue oval and bow to the chevy gods
Are you kidding 85raminator? A Stage II V6 twin turbo GN motor will cost around 10K and put out as much HP as you want. Single turbo ones start at around 1000hp. Hell my GN ran 12.7 with a K&N, tires, catback, $25 chip and some good gas. Thats a near stock car from 1987 to boot.
your right, someone looks at the title and expects to see an old granny dodge getting its ass handed to it by an untouchable GN. its all about the money dumped into a car and the person behind the wheel...
the reality is, any type of average car can beat any high performance street machine depending on how much money/driver is in it.
wow the GN didn't lose by much compared to a car that had probley 50K dumped into and people who dont know jackshit about GM, obviously buick in this case *the grand national* are like "fuck those cars, look how bad he lost* fucking morons. can't stand narrow minds.
29K into a GN to make it fast? Wow, I would never spend that kind of dough on my T-type. I bought the car for $850, got $1800 into a motor rebuild and maybe another $2500 into a new transmission and some basic bolt ons.I'm already running 12.0@112. That's almost an 11 second car for under $5k. The GN in the video looked stock and that Omni? The title doesn't do that GN much justice.
29K? i said how the omni probley has a macho 5 figure dumped into it when the GN is pretty stock. Good to hear bout your t-type though, is it a regal t or a grand national, same car different paint / interior options heh. Regal T is the ultimate sleeper ever.
Actually I was responding to a previous thread by 85 Raminator. Anyhow, My Buick is an 87 Turbo Regal "T" package. In 86 they were called T-types but in 87 they decided to take that name away and just call it the "T" package. It's Burgundy with the burgundy pillow back seats.
I enjoy it for what it is. It's unique and putting a run of the mill small block in it I feel would strip it of it's originality. That's all I was saying.
NOT an omni

It's only fast if you put 15k in the hood and it's still barely enough to beat an 87 gn

You must not know Mopar history.....that is an "024 Omni" built in early 80's.
fryertuck75 4 years ago
i guess youre right, the owner claimed it was an omni.
79Stepside 4 years ago
christ, even the owner doesn't know his own car. that is a Charger, not an Omni. Going by the title I was expecting two stock bodied cars. Oh well.

personally i just hate those guys that spend 20k making a 3.8 turbo GN fast while you can spend about 10k building a 350 thatll spank it anyday
