I have a group of white friends I'm the only black guy there they're so awkward around me which is funny because when I'm with my black friends we have one white homie he's always the life of the party and we treat him like our brother.
I took that jacket off third period...ellipsis. OMGOMGOMGGGGGG Now if that went over your head "..." Three periods like that are referred to as an Ellipsis. This is why they called me an Oreo.
Black Experience...like no other..incomparable! Settle racism consumes society like water consumes every living organism on this planet. Gambino lyrics speaks volumes! Hold us Down!!
he to me, seems like a mixture of a few different rappers. in my opinion: Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Kid Cudi. yet he's so damn original! he's so versatile. he's a fukin cannon!

@xosincerelytiff HAHA, insane. Their music style isn't even the same. The Weeknd doesn't even primarily rap, nor does Childish primarily sing.I mean, Childish Gambino is great and all, but The Weeknd's style is just really different that most music out there right now.

@MrSurfsAlot So you're saying that the majority of society who is progressively minded is that way because there's money behind it? Well, where the fuck have I been? I'd like my check for treating everyone equally. I'd like my subsidies for not judging people by their race or sexual orientation. You sir are an idiot. Sell your computer/leave teh internets/bathe with a toaster.
I've lived in a few places big cityies "you-blink-you-miss-it" small towns and I can attest that unfortunately racism does still exist. It's disgusting that there are still people that look at someone other than as a human being because of their melanin content. That said I honestly feel uncomfortable when rappers speak openly down on white people. My generations (your peers) aren't the one's who commited the atrocities against your forefathers.
@crayonmastah basically, what he is saying is that black people still have less opportunities than whites. White people can do whatever they want no questions asked, but black people are still stereotyped. I can give you a bunch of examples, but you might not be interested....the bottom line is AMERICA still lacks equality.
Half of the fans of this don't understand what the hell he's even talking about. He's not talking to you, but it's ok if you like it. Just relax a bit.
To say Hopsin is trash is blasphemy, you better respect these heads who are doing everything in their power to bring actual music back and aren't filling the air waves with auto tune and bullshit. So you stfu and don't dare talk shit about the real artist out there, Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar, Gambino and Lupe are void from any flame war or whatever you wanna call it so you stop right now
This song so moving to me that it nearly brings a tear to my eye. The line about kids being warriors needing sensei's strikes me deeply. Why are so many black american men failing their families, and why do we have an entire generation of black males lagged behind?
OMG this shit is SO TRUE. White people get to express their individuality without people making faces and looking down on you like your a fucking alien. It's seems that most black people are closed minded and are quick to judge you. But really it all comes down to ignorance. They just don't get it.. because they refuse to get it.
@tatlifelover now you're expressing racism, he isn't he's talking of rich people as the stereotypical white person is rich, and yes, most blacks are quick to judge, the hood kids, there is a difference between black and hood, as there is between rich and poor.
@FuckSloshy oh i agree i was a bit vague in my comment but my point was a lot of people in general and also a lot of black people (I'm black myself) act like being different and not being the BET version of a black person is taboo or just weird. That's all. No racism here.
@Guitar592 James Franco does evvvverrryyyytthhiiinnng and hes white. Donald Glover (childish Gambino) raps, acts, does stand up, skits, writes for 30 rock, so he does eeevvvvrerrryhting tooo
Are u retarded wtf does going deeper have to do woth the damn loch ness monster its cookie because it means they wanted a soft cuddlie cookie monster but instead he gave em loch ness
@kyriss7 are you crazy? listen to his albums before u try to say hop sucks. songs like chris dolmeth, hot 16's he's versatile as fuck. and he's still up and coming, there's a shit ton of ppl that still don't know of him.
@kyriss7 no he doesn't..he got those millions of few in the last 5 months ...he's been doing his thing for a few years now, but he's finally getting recognized. Based on your comment I can tell you've never listened through and entire Hopsin album.
@gangstamind187 You just became my favorite person on the internet haha. As for @kyriss7 they're both phenomenal rappers with different messages. Hop wants that purity in music and people and Gambino wants racism to just die. A million views is nothing anymore.
"This one kid said something that was really sad. He said I wasn't really black cause I had a dad. I think that's kinda sad cause mostly a lot of black kids think that they should agree with that." - so true.
One of my favorite songs on this album! I really hope more people discover that he's really talented as a rapper and actually raps about true shit. Everyone share this song or any song of CG to someone please
Ok not like its of any importance but the strings that come in the hook and the end of the song came from streets of rage. Lol from the beach level. Thought id point that at cuz i noticed but, yes of course the song is the shit. I feel like i underpaid for this album on itunes. I would pay $20 for this album.
@gunafella-Thanks a lot for answering my question. It makes perfect sense in the context of the song. I honestly didn't know why he named Tiger Woods specifically as I didn't know anything about Tiger Woods personal life aside from the infidelity thing. Didn't even know if he had kids or not. Thanks again! Childish is my favorite new blood in rap! :)
O.K., I love this guy and his lyrics are great, creative, fun and stand out. They are all easy enough to figure out but there's one part I don't get. maybe it's just going over my head but what does he mean by the "You could always Tiger Woods" line?
@blueandyellow1979 means even if you're a bad father you can still be there to provide financially.....then he says "or m.j" meaning you could be lucky to get a talented/successful child
Thanks Donald for tellin our story... "Don't drink the whole bottle cause these smart middle class black kids need a role model". Wish we had more like you.
@YamzieTheGr81 The red portion of the like bar is called "PURE BITCH ASSNESS" my friend. LOL And watch my video called STFU for internet gangstas if you get a chance
@YamzieTheGr81 tbh i think people who click the dislike button on most music videos are trolls, for something to have mostly red it has to be really bad. i mean like retarded bad and lately ive been seeing alot of stupidity on youtube. but so far not any music videos. this is definately not one of them.
Weirdest feeling when you're an African-American male teenager who doesn't fit the stereotype and theirs a song out there that you can relate to... Childish Gambino is the realest out here for addressing this situation. CG
@joshskatesgoofy he didnt say nothing bout a cookie. "Yeah these niggas wanna go deeper but insteadI gave em Loch Ness." What a cookie got to do with a Loch Ness monster Idiot LMAO
You watch South Park? Ever seen the "Three Fiddy" bit with Chef's parents? If the answer is no to either question, ok. If you have seen it though, shame on you.
For all the black people who are mad for what he's saying about "the culture" and how he didn't fit it, that was his experience and others can def relate.
Plus don't let the majority of the comments fool you, CG isn't just blasting black people for some of the troubles he has had. It's clear in the song but not so much in the comments as it seems everyone is focusing on the black people that made fun of CG for not being hood.
Straight up, CG is to these other rappers what a gambino was to their targets. they Kill them. CG is by far the best indie rapper out there and in contention for best rapper, Not with drake or wiz or wayne or mac cuz they suck, but with cats like Talib Kweli or Mos Def or Immortal Technique. CG is one of the only rappers that has jumped the Hip Pop level and is in the same ranks as these Real Rap geniuses
If you like this kind of music you should check mine out! I know everyone says this and most of ya’ll may not even read the rest of this comment but if you could just take a few minutes of your time to hear one of my tracks (and subscribe if you like it), you could help me get a step closer to my dreams! I don’t just do this for fun or for money or even for fame, I really want to make a career out of this so please, if you can, help me out!
And btw, I’ll be dropping my first music vid soon!
On like every other song on this album, he raps about being black and then not being black enough. WTF, clearly this dude is insecure. If he was a "lame"; White, black, latino, whatever will make fun of somebody. Such a cop out to stereotype all blacks as people who didn't except him cuz he wasn;t hood. Naw he was a LAME.
@chicagomycity You seem to be a hater, why are you here? He didn't stereotype all blacks, this shit really happens to people and if you don't like real shit then maybe you should listen to someone else and shut the fuck up.
@DedyFresh (1) A hater, no this is actually a very well-produced album with fresh lyricism and some very witty punchlines. But listening all the way through with it oozez with so much INSECURITY, that it gets to the point where I almost feel sorry for him. Now I am not saying that his music should not be be a reflection of his life and feelings. Thats fine and a good thing. But listeing to this album there is something DEEPER going on with racial insecurites that gets in the way of me taking him
@DedyFresh (2) seriously. I feel like I could be a HUGE fan of his after he gets some counseling. One minute he is saying he wants to speak to the "hood" next, he is talking about how he is a nerd, then how wish he wasn't and placing blaming on stereotypical cop outs. I am black and of course we have "ALL" had our experiences with our color. But you cannot let it consume you. After a while, you get to a certain level of maturity and you don't care what OTHERS think. But clearly he still does.
@DedyFresh (3) I mean its just personal opinion but one or two songs touching on such topics is interesting and introspective. Damn near the whole album.......something too heavy is going on in his head.
"took the jacket off, third period, ellipsis". Look up the word ellipsis. You didn't know what that meant. First rapper to use that word. This dude is a funny as hell stand-up comedian/good comedy screen writer/very good rapper/solid actor. Who else out there is as multi-talented and unknown as this guy? About as genius as it gets for an entertainer. You will be hearing his name.
This is real, one of my best friends is black, but he gets messed with everyday because he is the only black kid in the smart class. I don't think that is right, he is smart and a great friend.
this is staggering, in a society that privileges the fake and insincere, we have here a man willing to be honest, he can't help himself, calling everybody out for the subtly racist ways we interact that are completely stupid that we can't seem to get over because the wounds are still so deep, we like to think we've healed, but CG makes it pretty clear that the wounds have just shape-shifted. This is truly brilliant stuff.
To say I could relate to this song is an understatement. People don't know what its like to grow up an African American in this country and not fit the stereotype or have your own race put you down more then anyone else unless you been through it yourself. I agree with Janra2k6, realest song of 2011 by far.
I'm 11 and I can comprehend this. I DESERVE A GOLD METAL!

O.K., I love this guy and his lyrics are great, creative, fun and stand out. They are all easy enough to figure out but there's one part I don't get. maybe it's just going over my head but what does he mean by the "You could always Tiger Woods" line?
blueandyellow1979 3 months ago
@blueandyellow1979 means even if you're a bad father you can still be there to provide financially.....then he says "or m.j" meaning you could be lucky to get a talented/successful child

CG

Naw he was a LAME.
chicagomycity 3 months ago
@chicagomycity You seem to be a hater, why are you here? He didn't stereotype all blacks, this shit really happens to people and if you don't like real shit then maybe you should listen to someone else and shut the fuck up.
DedyFresh 3 months ago 3
@DedyFresh (1) A hater, no this is actually a very well-produced album with fresh lyricism and some very witty punchlines. But listening all the way through with it oozez with so much INSECURITY, that it gets to the point where I almost feel sorry for him. Now I am not saying that his music should not be be a reflection of his life and feelings. Thats fine and a good thing. But listeing to this album there is something DEEPER going on with racial insecurites that gets in the way of me taking him
chicagomycity 3 months ago
@chicagomycity What mess are you speaking? The stuff your saying doesn't even make sense.
Knuckles1859 3 months ago 4
@DedyFresh (2) seriously. I feel like I could be a HUGE fan of his after he gets some counseling. One minute he is saying he wants to speak to the "hood" next, he is talking about how he is a nerd, then how wish he wasn't and placing blaming on stereotypical cop outs. I am black and of course we have "ALL" had our experiences with our color. But you cannot let it consume you. After a while, you get to a certain level of maturity and you don't care what OTHERS think. But clearly he still does.
chicagomycity 3 months ago
@DedyFresh (3) I mean its just personal opinion but one or two songs touching on such topics is interesting and introspective. Damn near the whole album.......something too heavy is going on in his head.
chicagomycity 3 months ago
wow best song on camp, in my opinion, so different and true to his life.....and if your using rap genius then you know that they're THAT GOOD

You will be hearing his name.
daygoroach2360 3 months ago
