  • He was Holmes personified.

  • So is the actor playing Melas a native speaker of Greek?

  • Wow. At 5:20 it's Peter Lorre and Toht the Nazi torturer rolled into one. This does not bode well for this Greek fellow.

  • the look on holmes face when mycorft interrupted him. had they been children holmes would have glared and wanted revenge. i always do.

  • Did you see his face in 3:47-3:49 when Mycroft interrupted him? Priceless annoyance!

  • The creepy blonde guy reminds me of Peter Lorre.

  • @operaphantom95 Opera! I was thinking the same thing. Exactly. He always seemed to play a type of worm didn't he? The Wormtail(I think that's the name) in the Harry Potter series reminds me of him as well. "Great minds." lol I couldn't remember his name and was going to look up Casablanca to check but your saved me the trouble. Thanks. :)

  • I love Sherlock Holmes face when he meets the man his brother wanted him to meet. And i also love whenever hes talking to his brother, thier both so alike!!!

  • The bespecticaled villain reminds me of the creepy bespecticaled Nazi guy from Raiders of the Lost Ark, right down to the evil laugh.

  • Jeremy Brett was as close to being Sherlock Holmes as any real man could be to becoming a fictional character.

  • @GodsWildfire

    yes i totally agree!

  • Haha, that guy reminded me of Herr Flick of the Gestapo. 'Do as we say, or something nasty will happen to you!'

  • Mycroft looks rather like Sherlock's father

  • I think that's the oldest Mycroft I've ever seen. He's very good, though.

  • The business with the cane mimicking Peter Lorre in The Maltese Falcon. Nice touch!

  • Wicked good. I need to watch that film!

  • That creepy round-spectacled villian--I wonder if he got his inspiration for Peter Lorre--his voice reminds me of Lorre in his villian roles. Whoever he is, that actor does great job of portraying the creepiness of that villian character. He was quite creepy in the original story.

  • HAHA, Sherlock PWNED by Mycroft!

  • A very wild thought. Prob wrong. But is the squeaky voiced villain the same actor who did the monk [coje? he oversees Dr Who's regeneration] in "Planet of the Spiders" in Dr Who?

  • @carmichaelful wow. I think you're right!

  • @carmichaelful Hey, you're right it is! Wow, now it's very strange for me to watch this because Cho-Je was very friendly and kindhearted and this guy is about as evil as they get.

  • 5:30

That guy sounds EXACTLY like Peter Lorre!!

LOL Such a stereotypical sneaky villain voice :P

  • I thought Mycroft would be...heavier, and younger! But the episode is awesome so far!

  • Well, "Sherlock" had to have a 'mentor' at some point in his early life.

And what's more perfect -- his own [OLDER] Brother!

Had such a brother been younger, Sherlock would've 'assumed' the 'mentor' position for HIS 'protege`' brother

So for THIS character development, Sherlock MUST be the 'younger' brother. [Well, that's how I've 'wroked it out.']

XCELNT PT., "katwatson729!" Good n'Chewey "food for thought!" (YUM!)

  • @evernetherall Yeah - 7 years older, according to the book.

  • He (melas) says he prefers to stand, but later eventually he does sit down, just like Sherlock asked him to ;)

  • 3:48-3:50...Haha, the look on Holmes's face when big brother beats him to it XD

  • Great episode, I am really enjoying this.

  • Wow, this one really reminds me of "The Engineer's Thumb." What with the whole "special services needed for some dark scheme thing."

I half expected the bad guy to chase after the interpreter with a meat cleaver. ;)

  • Ok the creepy guy with the glasses and the cane, sounds like Peter Lorre LOL!

  • And he kinda looks like Michael Palin XD

  • Oh, yeah....he does! lmao

  • He actually based his performance on Lorre in the Maltese Falcon, so I've heard. Anyhow I love it!

  • Oh, YES! Xcell'nt 'step into Old Movies history, "Graid!"

In the interests of a 'few' "Holmes' viewers" who 'may not' recognize "Lorre," per se, his first 'name' was "Peter."

So, "Graid!" Thanx fer th'memories! I haven't had the pleasure of remembering his excellent characterizations in 'many moons.'

    YAY!

    Luv'th'Net!

    //^_^\\

  • Awsome! I love this episode!

  • I wonder how they got Elton John to act in this. ;-)

  • Ha! :)

  • HEE HEE! XD

  • ROFL!

  • Jeremy Brett is beast!
