  • @SeanKAlexander The vrod originated from the vr1000, which was harleys FAILED sport bike program. It didn't work in the 90,s. Thats why you have to dump 40k in it to keep up w todays technolgy.Horse power to money ratio is the point people

For a bike that cost more than double of the ZX10. It should destroy any street bike... Harley has mislead the consumer by naming this V-rod the destroyer. This proves even with the help of Porshe Harley can fuck up a bike and make it slow for the money spent!!!

  • @dobypaw The Destroyer is fastest in the 2 cylinder street bikes, not 4 cylinders. Also 4cylinders rev up alot faster than 2 cylinders. Putting the Destroyer against a Busa or ZX10 would be like putting the fastest jap car against the ZR1 Vette, 2 cylinders against 4, the vette 8 clinders against jap cars 6 cylinders . PLUS the ZX10/Busa weigh far less. I'll agree with you, if I want speed I'd get a ZX10 or Busa. Both bike are good in their own rights Also any Harley will hold value better.

It is called the Diavel It has the 1198 v-twin superbike motor 180 hp and a curb weight under 500 pounds but is geared much lower. 1/4 mile times not far off the destroyer at about half the money. The year of your friends S3 is probably a 1998 to 2001 model year.

    Put the 8 cylinder 7 liter ZR1 up against a 3.8 liter Porsche 6 cylinder and the Mighty Vette will not walk away. It has to do with technology and airlfow. Harley's have neither.

There is only one porshe that will give the Vette a run for it's money, that a Carrera GT, But you are talking about a car that costs almost $200,000.00, The $60,000.00 Vette does a pretty damn good job. Like I said before, Harleys main purpose of the Destroyer is to go against other V Twins, not 4 cylinders.

  • @surrynet For $60k you will get a 430hp car, that's not going to beat many cars on the block, if you are talking about ZR1, you better cough up $105k, and 911 Turbo S will beat it 0-60/ 1/4mile (ZR1 should take it at 120mph+ though), but on track they are not really that different. You get the 911 T-S for ~$160k. I guess you are either misinformed, or just guessing here ... But I guess u did not go to school at all? GT is no longer in sale, but I guess you mean 911 GT2 RS, which is $245k

  • @surrynet Carrera GT isn't available anymore. Porsche only built 1270 between 2004-2006 and all have been sold. Those that are available in the second hand market are worth more than they did when they were new.

  • you are comparing apples to oranges first of all the kawi is not stock and did red light, also did not "destroy" the vrod and v rod is set up for 1/4 mile and is a factory bike and is closer to 30k than 40k the kawi is a inline 4 vs vtwin and if you "tuned" the vrod as much as u did the kawi it would flat out smoke the kawi, you can youtube other vids and find out the vrod runs in high 9's right off the trailer and a "stock" kawi zx-10 does not come close

  • @1danandy I have NEVER seen a stock v rod do a high 9..Ever. Harley will laugh at you and say right, but gladly sell you one. How do you do high 9 with 115 bhp? Anyone will tell you that a kawi will do 9's STOCK with a good rider and has 165 bhp STOCK before exhaust and tune. And I would put money that the motor on the Kawi is stock.

  • @1danandy sorry to say 9.89 is slow for a factory built drag bike. Hell a company that is never known for drag racing, BMW's new liter bike the 1000rr stock run 9.7's all day for only $15,800... If i was going to spend $31.249 for a drag bike I want it to run high 7's to low 8's... High 9's and $31,249 is a waste of money.

Before I got into riding Buell's, 10 years ago I owned and raced a ZRX1200R with a muzzy stage three kit, lowered, stretched, air shift, +4 degree ignition advancer, geared 1 down 3 up, DOT racing slick and a little weight reduction. The bike put 170 HP to the tire weighed 464 pounds ready to race. Ran a best 8.86 @ 156mph. A .8 second faster bike will not put me out of my league.

  • @1danandy @1danandy YES! The destroyer is a VERY nice bike..I would love to own one. Harley got that one right. But with all due respect, the new kawi 1000 will still best the destroyers 1/4 stock for a lot cheaper. But only a couple of 10ths. Even more when you tune it and take the emissions of and the gov restriction. The kawi weighs about 100 lbs less and comes with traction control. But the v rod def has a style all it's own and is very respectable machine. 9.89 is very kick ass.

You pay attention to the light sequence & do your thing. Only in the end you know what's up. That said there are obvious facts when the other guy/girl moves or leaves the line while you are staged & you can see that clearly. This how ever was not the story. HD stayed in it all the way Kawi was faster.

  • @manjunk427 This was painfully homosexual. A Harley can wheelie. We fall far less than rice riders, as well. The obnoxious noise most rice bikes make is simply irritating. So is a big twin if it doesn't have a rumble. The fastest bikes in the world are big twins. My Harley makes 110lb/ft at 3k rpms. A Busa makes something like 60 at 10k.

The only reason Ducati (sexy) wins so much is because they are allowed a cc advantage, as twins inherently make less power than an equal sized inline four, but slightly more torque. That's besides the point though. Harleys are glorified pieces of shit. You pay for the name and the "image." In the end, a polished turd is still a turd.

  • @wvXvxvXvw Let me put this in simple terms for you, assuming you're talking about a V-Rod, as you never even specified what bike you have. The V-Rod is very advanced (German engineering), and it's Harleys dedicated drag bike. It is a very good bike for what it does. Even so, the Hayabusa is more powerful, faster, and costs less all while being a street touring bike. The Busa is fugly though, unlike the V-Rod. But it's still faster. Period. Have a nice day. I own a modest 09 Ninja 650r, btw.

Yes, the v rod is a nice bike, but derives from the vr 1000 which was their FAILED sport bike in the 90's. It's 90's technology..But a very nice respectable bike. Ha ha.. but funny carb joke.. It was developed jointly with Porsche (cool eh?). I apologize if your comment was more in line with a previous post. I admit I didn't read very far down the list. Also, I'll admit no matter how cool the V-Rod (I prefer the night rod) is it won't touch a Japanese bike.

  • @rcktpilot Actually I am a huge fan of the Vrod.Luv the bike.but it's not more advanced that the New busa motor. HP and performance = advanced. Proof is in the numbers. I am also a huge fan of the night rod. The vrod is a great engine. It derived from the vr1000 in the 90's..Which was Harleys attempted sport bike program. I also love the looks of a vrod. I wish Harley people would really see that that bike is the future of Harley as was full of fresh ideas. It really is in a class all it's own.

  • @badbanshee370 Mine made 95 stock, 110 now(tuned with bolt ons). At 3k. The Busa makes 93-99(I was wrong, but the new Harley does in fact make more torque) at 7k. The fact is new fuel injected twin cam HDs do make more torque. Doesn't make them faster, the big Harleys are 7-800lbs. But it is still impressive. Its the reason Harley absolutely obliterate the rice bikes in NHRA drag events.

A stock 1340 hd makes 50 bhp and 50 lbs/ft.So they don't compare.busa makes more torque. If you put your cc and money into that busa..End of story. As for NHRA, I'm talking about something the average man can buy at a dealer. NHRA has motors that are not harley and have grease packed bottom ends.

  • And what stock Harley was this? The 1580 only made 70 ponies and 70 lbs of torque.. You could get the 110 cubic in with the screaming eagle kit but was an arm and a leg and isn't considered STOCK.

  • @wvXvxvXvw If I brought a 1340 cc busa to the dealers and said I wan't a equal displacement kit as the 110 ci screaming eagle and wanted to go to 1800 cc on the busa and lined it up with any 1800cc harley.. Harley wouldn't stand a chance and it would make double the torque as a harley. the 110 ci motor is already 460 more cc and barely out torques it STOCK for a fraction of the price, and they are designed for that hp out the box.

  • When you red light you usually get there first if the bikes are close. The Kawi lost automatically and the Victory wasn't far behind. This video FAILS.

I have a ZXR1200R with a Muzzy stage three kit the rest of the bike is completely stock except for lowering it when I race and I do not use a shift light. and ran a best of 9.72 @ 149mph. I must say the destroyer did not take it east on this run. But when you own a $40,000 drag bike no jap crap should be close you you. Waste of $

  • @boxmonkeyracing If you listen to each bike taking off the Kawi's red light and head start was minimal...If they both left on green the Kawi would have still cross the line first and in front of a factory built drag bike. That is the point here a dude with a lowered, stretched stock motor zx10 is faster than a factory race bike. The dude had time to look back and wave to him and that was only an 1/8 mile where the v-twin excels.

  • @dobypaw do you race? sure as hell doesn't sound like it. sounds to me you are defending a bad pass with excuses. but I'll play your excuse game. being that I have made quite a few passes and know when I have noticed the other lane had redlighted I don't push the bike/car as hard as I would if it was a good pass. besides it's a .2-.5 sec jump. good enough jump to be in the powerband before the other bike is off the line.

  • @boxmonkeyracing .2 to .5 is just a tick faster than a blink of an eye. You can not tell if he jumped if you were on the other bike because you are looking at your lights and not the other rider or his lights. Yes I use to race a ZRX1200R a 10 second bike. I never payed attention to the other rider. I always ran hard every pass unless the other rider could not make the call. If you took it easy because you think the other guy red lighted your not a true racer.

Like this video has. a big fat W in the left lane. if you are focusing on the launch and lights then you won't see a red light but after you're out of the hole and headed down the track you can usually see a light. once seeing said light at the big end, the only reason to keep pushing your bike is practice or being a dumbass. if this is a competition race you're a dumb ass. test N tune it's practice.

  • @boxmonkeyracing I know there are lights on the timing board. Myself and many riders including the pros only pay attention to our riding. Have you ever seen the rider of pro stock or top fuel bike back off when their opponent red lighted? None of them takes it easy unless the other rider does not make the call... If your mind and eyes are on anything other than your riding that would make you a dumbass with a lot of losses. But if you own a Harley I can understand worrying about reliability.

  • @dobypaw let me answer the redlight question first. they have money and rebuild after every pass. you and I probably do not. so longevity is an issue. no $ = no fix. second. if you can't notice a light while riding then you must not be looking down the lane. you assuming that all I ride is a harely, and leak oil is pretty funny and naive. you do know a concours 14 is a kawasaki? which runs cirlces around the v-rod. I just prefer clean racing. this video isn't it.

  • @boxmonkeyracing The leaking oil was a joke for all H-D guys I know a lot when it comes to H-D. I use to live in York, PA anyone who know H-D, knows the final assembly plant is there for the big twins. I have toured the plant many times and personally know several employees in the plant and I kinda busted my own balls. As I own a Buell XB12R with a sporty based motor. but I will say it is not Identical to the sportster. I do not like H-D because of the Buell closing. It will bite them in the end

  • @dobypaw at least Erick is going to Can-Am and it is rumored that Erick is going to have the go ahead to do what he wants with the bikes no restrictions like harley. the jap companies better watch out he bilds some bad ass bikes. i hope the rumors are true sport rider did a thing on him and he kinda confirmed it.

  • @dobypaw in my opinion the buell closing was due to them scrapping a whole years work and millions of dollars because they werent content with it lol but i also prefer buell over a regular harley

  • @kcmoto001 That is your opinion but Harley closed down Buell because IMO It was a personal issue... Erik was heading in a direction H-D did not want to do that was going head to head against the Jap bikes and the fact that Erik was working on getting rid of the air cooled Harley engine and going with a Austrian built rotax. I believe he had plans to end the sporty based motor in his bikes. Harley F'ed him big time... Guaranteed Can-Am will not because the look outside the box just like Erik!!!

  • @dobypaw sorry dude. getting rid of eric buell was the best thing they could ve done. those bikes are over engineered and a bitch to work on. you have to rotate the motor down just to change a spark plug on some of those things. TRASH!

  • @skudworth1983 FYI... Harley wanted to retain Erik's services to help in designing other Harley motorcycles. He refused and I do not blame him, would you stay with a company that killed your dream? Speaking of changing spark plugs have you ever changed them in the V-rod? If not be prepared to drop the motor from the frame look at the frame it is bolted together so you can take it apart to work on the POS. You can thank Erik for the super glide before starting Buell he helped design it.

  • @skudworth1983 Do research Erik helped H-D in many ways the fatbob has Eriks vision in with the front looks like an XB lightning. V-rod engine originally started out as the VR1000 super bike engine Erik helped engineer that engine. He also wanted the motor for his street bikes but H-D turn him down and turned it in to a 200+ pound boat anchor for the V-rod. In the VR1000 the motor weigh under 200 pounds. Maybe if H-D would over engineer their bikes they would not need 50+ year old technology.

  • @boxmonkeyracing The two pros I told you about only Force tears down every pass Gadson does not. Pro stock bikes do not as well you still do not see them back off. Sure they have the money if something breaks but what is the chance your Kawi or vrod muscle will brake? When I owned my ZRX 8 years ago I would run it down the 1/4 mile about 30 to 40 times a year and never had a problem with it. I would launch at 6000rpm and work the clutch pretty hard. I'm done with you have fun talking to yourself

I own/ed both a kawak and a v-rod musle. and guess which one has broken down on me. . .it wasn't the harely. maybe because the v-rod motor was inpart designed better then most engines harely builds, but still doesn't change the fact the concour 14 shut off on me while ridding. if you have limited funds to fix anything while racing you will do what you need to to keep racing. I never said he left off.

I have no doubt that on a legitiment pass the zx10r will win. it's lighter, it's got probably more power (depending on the year). but the thing is it's not geared the same as the destroyer. sorry you can't get it through your head that all I am saying is there needs to be a clean pass.

  • I own a destroyer and a 2007 zx 10 with stock motor cut off exhaust lowered and streched 3 inches that run 9.37 et all day and my destroyer runs 10.20 et if its a good day! im harley to the core but the price to performence ratio is 100% to jap bikes!!!!

  • @davairs #30 in the 2010 points standings (the only Kaw of the 40 racers receiving points). Harley took #2 and #3, Buell #5 and #10. Also NHRA added a rule to add weight to the harleys and buells.

  • First time i went to the drag races,met this man racing a harley(lowerd,nitrous,bored and stoked,lighter,extended,wheeli­e bar,slick etc.etc)Me being a young dude at the time,very impressed with is high 10 sec. passes.Next week meet another racer,he rides a stock new fj1200 yamaha and does a a low 11sec pass and gets it into the high 10's durring the day(not so impressed with the harley no more.The week after he gets there with a slick and wheelie bar and does high 9sec passes.Harleys are slow!
