I'll never forget seeing this episode when it first came on in 02. I always wondered why Darin didn't complete in the final round, and come to find out he sued the show because his equipment failed and kept him in the water. He apparently suffered brain damage, and I read that he suffers from depression now. Anyway thanks for posting this episode.

I believe the show went downhill after that stunt because there was word that the man had some kind of brain damage, and had actually passed out due to lack of oxygen... I wouldn't really blame the show for that since he was the one responsible for how long he stays down there.

They said that the equipment was screwed up and he was held underwater longer then that, the guy sued the show before the first show even aired.
