When Ali is used as a first name by a girl it is not a Muslim name (especially for this Catholic girl with Cajun blood). The name is one of the ninety-nine attributes of Allah proposed by Muhammad as excellent names for BOY children, most people know such a gender opressive religion would not condone such a name for a girl.

@geece1 The word Ali is not an attribute of Allah. Nobody should be named after an attribute of Allah, as Allah is Almighty, and none is equal to Him. Islam is not a gender oppresive religion as girl are not allowed to take the husband name and thus the family name the girl was born with stays with her forever.
