I remember playing this at the arcade back in the day. This was the kind of game where you'd have to keep pumping in quarters if you wanted to spend more than 15 seconds playing. It's one thing to make a game challenging, but to stack the odds against the player with an overwhelming number and concentration of enemies is a waste of a game.

I believe is like the upgrade/downgrade thing. You have two different weapons, pretty much your standard type gun that shoots out bullets and the other is a weapon you can suck up ghosts with. There are items you pick up that increases the power of those weapons, but when you die, they go back to their default strength.

ghostbusters 2 by hal laboratory was the BEST ghostbuters game. its got winston and even louis tully! gameplay and music is top-notch, i played that game over and over when i was young.

Oh wow! This is the first time I've seen this game since I was maybe five or six years old. 20 years. I was hugely into Ghostbusters back then, and so sad that my family never let me play it. I thought about it recently, and I was convinced that I had just made it up, a false memory. Thanks for putting this up and proving my memory correct!

Only Ghostbusters games that don't suck are the Activision one(except the NES version), the Genesis one, New Ghostbusters 2 for NES and Game Boy, Extreme Ghostbusters for Game Boy Advance, and Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The rest are either boring, have terrible gameplay, or are just not worth playing!

Im sorry, I love the ghostbusters but even as a child I thought this game was kinda crappy. It couldve been so much better. I think even a X-men style 4 player side scroller, with Winston included, wouldve been much better. Or even FPS like terminator 2.

@Theshark15z Best answers I could come up with: Sprite limitations, limited time, or the guys in charge were f**king racists. At least he appears in the New GB2 game for the NES and Game Boy and in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Worst Ghostbusters games ever were the one for the movie on the NES and the Game Boy game based on Real Ghostbusters. NES one has awful graphics and terrible gameplay, and Game Boy only has Peter playable and doesn't have actual ghostbusting!

he was only in the quote what nerd said bad game that not as shity of ghosbusters 2 for the nes also made my ljm. Was in some parts of the new game. The only character left out of the new games were Lewis and Dana but there were vaguely mentioned briefly in a couple of cut scene that you only see if you play through  the game properly with out using the replay feature on the wee game.

Considering that this is an old arcade game the graphics are a little primitives seeing how they were games that were released the same year and had better graphics, like Double Dragon, Street Fighter and Crime Fighters. Anyway at least the gameplay is a lot better than the one on the nes version. At least in this version you get to roam around the screen at shoot at things.

Data East wasn't the only Japanese company that made a Ghostbusters game. HAL Laboratory was another one, but they only released both their NES and GB versions of Ghostbusters II in Japan and Europe, but they are considered by many to be the best Ghostbusters games around.

I admit I thought this paticular game was lackluster (only GB game I enjoyed was the Genesis), but kudos for making a 3 player video of it anyway!
