@urmotherlikesit Thanks heaps! The weird shaky effect was done by slightly pulling the focus in and out, so the perspective shifted slightly. The audio was mostly from a gas stove with a low-pass applied to it :)
it's a good advert but it's a bit long. should be 30 seconds. the overrall message is very apt, but it should be shorter. The monologue is a bit too long and repetitive, no offence just my opinion. The make up job is great.
@PlasmaBall1 Yeah I did, along with Tim Glastonbury, and Sharon Massey on make up -- it didn't win the competition unfortunately, but seems to be getting a few good comments :)
He is a really good actor. He is not actually an actor as such - think a builder. He should do more acting. Kudos for the great Ad - when will this be on TV. Very Very effective. Last shot is very powerful.
Damn. Took me a little bit to catch the blood dripping down the nose.. So i rewinded it to the knuckles scene.. noticed how its getting bloodier as the story's going along..
@Quinton595 Thanks heaps man -- yeah that take actually would've worked for the whole thing with no cut-away to the knuckles, but I wanted to show the knuckles... we spurted some fake blood into his nose before the take and it just happened to seep-out at the right time!
@tommyjudd Chose a good actor too. The raspyness of the "no" right at the end is something that teens can connect with, because it was said in a tone like a guy would say talking to his friend..
@Quinton595 Thanks heaps :) He's actually not an actor! He should be, I believe he's a builder by trade and may be currently serving in the army. Would be awesome to work with him again!
That's not explained, nor the point. The actual person he's based off has severe brain damage and has taken years to learn how to talk and go to the bathroom again... no biggie?
Thanks for the nice comments drummerboy and dotanddot :)
The gov hit two birds with one stone. They made a film competition to show that they are boosting our tiny film industry, and in the process, getting a winning entry to use in tackling binge drinking issues... The only downside is that the winner was screened on MTV and not across all networks.
You'll see the FUNDED commercials on TV and in cinemas, also under the "Don't Turn a Night Out into a Nightmare" tagline, but I don't feel they're effective ads. Not that mine is a masterpiece!
Well I'm starting to do a couple of low-budget commercials for charities in the coming months, so hopefully I get to make some more stuff like this that actually makes it to TV! :)
ha no worrries.. ahahah noo man, there my old videos when i was like 5, (not literally) but ye there so bad i have to take them down.. over that stuff now..ha
Well I don't know why the other videos had guys getting hit by cars... but I did it because I met a guy who had severe brain damage from being hit by a car while stumbling home one night. That's my excuse...
Don't really know about girls getting raped though, one of the TVC's has a couple having sex, but she appeared to consent to it. Even so, I guess it's a confronting thing for a girl, so they use it?
thanks matee, this really makes me think how lucky i am surviving the other night was absolutely blind drunk on a main road, nepean highway. im never ever gonna straightt vodka straight from the bottle ever again :\
We shouldn't dwell on how we behaved, but learn for next time. I used to drink a whole bottle of vodka in a night. A few times I would walk up to 10km to get home. When you go out, just remind yourself to stick to the footpaths and wait for crossings to go green - or better yet, get a mate to drive. Thanks for commenting and happy, safe drinking :)
well done!! faaantastic!! and your gorgeous :) ya got everything going for ya :) how did you do that shaky weird effect and what was the sound?

See if you can embed the video into a powerpoint or whatever you're presenting on.
Alternatively, google "how to download youtube links" and paste this video's URL into the site.

Great that it's not patronising like a lot of the other PSAs.
