His early days from the 60's 70's were less effeminate; later on in his career he is more into flamboyant (expensive) dresses and that actually increases his popularity. In 紅白歌合戰, it is always the last show that the audience look forward to (his duel with 小林幸子 in 紅白歌合戰) . I like his singing regardless.

OH I LOVE THIS GUY. I also saw him perform in 1996 on the kohaku special. Loved it then LOVE IT NOW!
