i just watched the 88 highlights of Alp d-Huez...hampsten struggled...in fact he did awful. its nice to see that someone so hopeless in one year, can come back and get it done.
You see it often with riders in a huge effort. They are very focused, exhausted and almost dehydrated and then they tend to get very irritable. This year, Di Luca did the same gesture a few times in the Tour of Italy, but there are many examples.
He was kung-fu fighting. Andy is some sort of black belt martial artist, I'm sure I heard Phil Ligget once say that. Hard to verify though.
Andy's probably freaking out because he's leading on the most famed mountain climb in cycling and doesn't want some dork knocking him off his bike. It happens accidentally almost every year where a rider gets knocked off his bike by an over zealous fan. So he's probably just protecting himself from falling. He sure showed that kid!
The Z team had the best jersey, too bad they are gone!!
