I used to run a 48 Anglia with a 500 hp 327 in it with a power glide. Things can get real hairy in a short wheelbase car at high speed. I don't run short wheel base cars at the drags anymore. I've seen too many horrible things happen real fast with these type vehicles at high speed. And you have NO time to react. I run a 1964 Malibu with a blown 454 roller motor now. Much safer!
V8s belong in American cars, not VWs. I'm glad the driver wasn't hurt, but I'll be honest, it makes me sick to see American iron stuffed into a Volkswagen. Just doesn't belong there and always looks super hokey/cartooney.

Well he saved it, then he should have killed the engine, or at least kept the clutch in. What the hell is wrong with this guy? Makes me question his driving from the get go.
@FrankiePintado He was knocked unconscious in the first impact , even though it looks like fairly average wall smack he was going way faster than it appears. Saw an Altered once guy rolled to the start line out off a burnout thought he selected 1st gear but pickup reverse instead when he got the green he went for the full launch but rocketed backwards nearly taking out his crew before hitting his chaser truck flat out . Reading about it later they reckon he hit the truck at over 80 mph !
@FrankiePintado you obviously don't have much racing/automotive experience. He got knocked out on the first impact and when someone is knocked out they don't know what they are doing. His foot then was on the throttle causing the second and third impacts and after the third impact the engine is still running and it finally dies. It had nothing to do with his driving. This was a bb 468 ci 9inch rear 32x14 wheels driver side in the back rite in the middle home made all sq. tube chassis ladder bar . Low 10s that day if he would had ran it with out the crazy crash 9.75 eazy. Funny how evertime we go racing everbody though we had a drag bike in a old milk truck then we pull out a vbug...
