  • Job fair sounds awful I have gone to career day things before it is just tables full of things I think I couldn't do. Your vlog is funny.

  • i like the fact that you are awkward !

that's what makes you interesting and lovable! I'm sure that at least one of those bastards will hire you!

  • *shudder* I hate career fairs...

  • Good luck with your job search Abby.

A job fair sounds like a potentially very depressing and demoralising event.

  • Yeah I hate job fairs. That whole meeting new people etc. :P

    Good luck!

  • damn u have a big mouth..very wide..but sexy lips lol

  • Years ago I once went to an job fair, more out of curiosity than necessity, to see the companies and what positions were being offered. The major turn-off was the sense of desperation in all the job hunters and intense venomous stares at the perceived competition. Then there was the lovely parking ticket waiting for me on my car. It wasn't a productive day.

  • Those career fairs are a complete waste of time, the world over it seems. In Australia they are too.

  • I went to a career fair this week, too, and it was completely pointless. No one was even taking resumes.

Every rep there was content with simply delivering their company's spiel, handing out some piece of junk with the company logo on it, and then directing me to the company website to upload my resume. Bastards.

  • Sounds like an... interesting time at the job fair. Like you said, at least you did it. And while I don't know what jobs are out there for an English major, there's always the route of student worker and work up the ranks from there. In other words, go work for the university that you're so desperately trying to leave. I know many people who went from student to staff to retirement at the exactly same place.

I personally can't imagine myself doing that... but never say never, right? :-)

  • I thought you were going to be a preschool teacher?

  • That's my goal, but with the economy the way it is (and the insanity that is the requirements for even just a day care job in the Boston area), I'm just throwing my resume wherever I can. What used to be "I'm gonna be a preschool teacher!" has turned into "I'm gonna work at a children's library until I get a degree in early childhood education!" which has turned into "Dear God don't make me go back into retail."
