have anyone here tried filling the gap where the rubber seal is supposed to be(between the chrome bezel and the digitizer) with silicone or similar substances?
Would like to hear any experiences people have had trying it on their iPhone and how it worked. Thanks : )
Thank you for the video. My son and I fixed his 3gs and then got a blank screen; he thought I didn't have the #3 cable in far enough, but #1 had apparently popped off so it was the LCD connection. Finally got it all together and working for $10 and a little time. :-)
i have a cracked screen, but when it cracked i put on a screen protector so the glass would stick to it. My orders coming in 1-2 weeks so i wasn't sure whether to use my iPhone or not. Can the cracked glass damage the lcd?
Okay..so I have a 3G with a cracked screen that works perfectly fine and a 3G that suffered water damage but has a screen thats fine. I planned on just switching the two screens, would that work? I'm not understanding in this video that you have to replace both the screen and digitizer when all I want is a screen replacement.
Hi, can I just replace the rubber that's outside the screen? Because I tried cleaning some crud that stuck between the glass and the rubber with a thin needle but ended rubbing the top of the rubber and cut it, now I think that stuff is getting into it from that opening because I can see, unless it was already and I'm just barely realizing it cause I'm paying so much attention to it.
For the heat gun, what heat level does it need to be on and what temperature ? Is it possible to separate the glass & digitizer if only 1 is broken ? Thanks. :)
Have you tried rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to dissolve the adhesive holding the mid frame? heard that the heat gun can be dangerous for the home flex button if over heated. so that was an alternative to the gun. just curious if you've tried this method and if it works better? or safer or easier. lol you see where im getting at.
Finally I found some useful video how to replace just the glass part!

@AdventureSoup No :) I've personally tried that. The internal connector is completely different. Therefore it won't fit
