Hi! I recently get a fulltone '69 and I want to use it with my Microvibe in order to recreate a sort of Hendrix sound...could you suggest me how to place and set them? I've tried a lot but I failed! =(
I'm really doubting between this one and the Malekko Vibrato... can you get the same sounds with this pedal as in the demo of the Malekko? I mean the soft chorus thingy, and the eery sounds with that Radiohead part at the end.. thanks for the good demo's anyway, hope you can reply ;)
To avonjunkies this pedal takes heavy distortion very well. You might wanna roll the intensity a bit if you max the speed out. I set the intensity arround 9:00 and max the speed out it sounds evil
The processing pedals (chorus, delay etc.) on a board should always be placed inline BEFORE anything which adds gain. Why? Because pedal input circuits are designed to handle a low-level signal from a guitar. Hi-gain distortion and overdrive pedals can sometimes add as much as 20dB to the signal gain, and can often overload the inputs of other pedals, completely screwing your tone and adding unwanted clipping. Hope that helps.
I've had my eyes on this for a while now, but I've read several places that this particular pedal is not very good combined with the Fulltone OCD. Is this true, and if so why? Great demo BTW, as always.
In the last part of the video, he used the vibe with a gain pedal. Sounds OK, however the order is wrong. Normally the signal from the guitar should pass through the gain/boost pedals first and then to the modulation effects (chorus, phaser, delay, etc) The only exception is the wah pedal which exists in the first spot of the chain. Am I wrong?
@zifirblues it actually gives it a more vocalish throb sound if you put it before a drive pedal. Phasers, flangers and vibe pedals are in the same family as a wah, so it can actually sound alot better before drive, whereas chorus is technically in the delay/reverb family, so it sounds better after distortion... but it really is all personal preference
@zifirblues i know when i have a fuzz pedal and a boost pedal i have to put the fuzz first in the chain or is loses tone. Btw i prefer the vibe after the shtuff too.
If it "Sounds OK," then it's not wrong. That's really the only rule. However, the sound most people tend to prefer is the order you have described. So you're right and wrong:)
Oh, other common exceptions would be compression and harmonizer effects. Most harmonizers track better the cleaner signal they see, and most people prefer to compress the signal before distorting it (as opposed to compressing a distorted signal).
@zifirblues Some manufacturers recommend putting modulation effects in the effects loop, which puts the modulation effects AFTER the amp's preamp (and BEFORE the presence / resonance circuits and the power amp).
@zifirblues I much prefer the sound of modulation before gain. Especially vibes and phasers. When it's after the gain, the effect takes over the sound and tone too much and it becomes a swirling mess! Mods before gain for me.
been on my pedalboard for over a decade..only pedal thats lasted that long. mines so old it doesn't have the LED light which I've never needed cause trust me-you know when this swirl machine is on, just an amazingly deep sounding pedal.
How would you suggest I run this pedal with my set up (ie: where should I put it)? My set up as of now is Guitar -> Fuzzface (JH-F1) -> Wah Pedal (JH-1B) -> Amp.
@thmsrojo They are both univibe pedals, but the Micro has the more traditional circuit (lamp/photocell). You can't go wrong with either, let your ears decide :)
whats a lamp and photo based circuit? they sound cheaper than digital components, does that mean i could go make my own pedal that sounds vintage too?
Be wary of going digital to quickly. The difference between digital and analog is that computers cannot understand the concept of infinity. Therefore, a computer cannot create all of the possibilities for tonal varitation and richness that an analog effect can. As a human being, you have the ability to perceive and recognize infinity and infinite tonal possibilities. Don't let the limitations of a computer cheat you out of that unless you have no other options.
It uses an incandescent lamp so the rise of the signal is faster than the fall... since thats the way the light pulses ... this gives it that realistic chewy swirl
Guitar Center has them on sale for about $119. I ordered one and it is not backordered. Such as life. I also have the Dunlop real Uni-Vibe. Love my toys.
I own this pedal, and it excellent for playing Hendrix, Trower, or even Waylon Jennings. I have a 1997 Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster, and I can hit the "Machine Gun" and even "Isabella" tones. The only drawback to the dunlop version is that it is not stereo (which the original was). It is a great buy, all handmade in the U.S.
I didn't care for the Soul Vibe's wave form. The Micro Vibe is much smoother and more usable (in my opinion) There is a internal trimpot in the Micro Vibe that I beleieve adjusts the wave form... and you might be able to get the Soul Vibe sound
Man! 3:07 and on is worth the price of admission alone! You guys at PGS really, really have to stop making such cool sounding videos. My wife is starting to ask questions.
