  • OMG! Me too! this just happened to me on the train going home after work a few weeks ago- everyone ran away from me- no one would help me- I couldn't get up- I was too weak. finally one really brave guy helped me up and off the train and called an ambulance. The usual ensued- NO ONE SO embarrassing. I finally get to see a Dysautonomia specialist on the 27th... my BD- great present (I hope). So SICK of being told I'm just a spaz. You made my day! So happy to find this!

  • Thank you so much for posting videos like these. It helps others so much. It really does!

  • I have NMH, and everyone keeps telling me that I'm just trying to cause drama and get attention.

  • I have it too, and the docs said the same. I had to diagnose myself.

  • roflll the dog just stares

  • I have VasaVagal Syncope - but actually it seems the same as your POTS so i'm confused now! Trying to think of a guide dog that when you blackout actually goes and runs off for help starts barking then runs back to you with someone... amount of times i've ended up injured to point of not being able to get up again... or just out cold for too long...

  • I've never heard of POTS... but am curious now and will watch your vlogs... seeing you faint like that was scary... fainting in general is something that has never happened to me... ever. came close once. horrible feeling. i'm so glad you are strong and positive about this. as for me, i'm going to educate myself on this, as i've never heard of it before. Much love.

  • I was just curious... If he's a service dog, what tasks does he perform? Because 1) he didn't warn you that you were about to faint... and then 2) he didn't really react quickly to you falling down... I'm not trying to say that he's not a service dog in any way, I'm just really curious about what he does as a service to you. I myself use a service dog and know how helpful they can be :)

  • @TheBahaiGirl He actually does warn me but not in this video because he was distracted. I have another video of him doing it while he was in "working" mode that I posted later on. I think he was maybe a year old in this video so sometimes he would still be really playful wanting to do what he wanted to do but now he is 2 1/2 years old so he is a lot better at paying more attention to me even while not in "working" mode. Last night when I fainted he was in another room but came to me and stayed.

  • @sarahdionna Oh, that's good :) Thanks for clearing that up for me!

  • whats the signals for the dog doing? hes/shes cute :)

  • @gf4life he was just playing around, pouncing on shadows.

  • I only passed out once from POTS, but get close often. I'm lucky that I get a warning a couple of seconds before, like a beehive buzzing in my brain, which gives me time to hit the floor before it hits me. Great video - it's nice to actually have evidence of our invisible disease.

  • @simbofats Sometimes I do get a warning but not always. Yes, it is awesome to have evidence of it!

  • Whats this song on the video called? Lol

  • Whoa. that was fast! By the way, Walburg's quite a fine looking fellow. Is he a kind of nurse dog/?

  • @MORKOS621 I have never heard of "nurse dog" before. He is my service dog though.

  • @sarahdionna I guess that's what I mean. He takes care of you.

  • Ouch, yeah that happens to me a LOT! But always at the worst times (crossing the street, going up/down the stairs, in class, etc). Dysautonomia takes a lot out of you. Hope your doing well (:

  • @xPyscosocialDarlingx Yeah I faint at all the wrong times too. Lol. I have lots of stories...

  • Sometimes I do get hurt but nothing serious. I always have bruises and scrapes from being clumbsy so a few more from falling isn't a big deal. I have taken midodrine but it didn't help all that much. I hope you start having better days, alotus9.

  • Don't you get hurt when you fall? :( I have never fainted, so I don't know. Everytime I am going to faint I sit on the floor, it's so embarassing. Do you take a med to help? I heard Midodrine helps. I'm so sad. I have been roombound for 2 years, I lost all my suppose friends, my family treats me like a pet, and all I have is my piano and the memories of the dreams I use to have. And sometimes I can't even play.

  • "heather123", you made me pee in my pants at 0:15!! shouldnt you be monitored all day for safety??

  • 0:33 the dog pees on the carpet!!! Haha.

  • @LegereBen Wow! You are my first troll. Congratulations!

  • @LegereBen At least, he didn't abandon her.

  • Hi Sarah, thank you for your insight, you are a remarkable woman! You fall quite hard on your uploads, have you ever been knocked out by the fall or been concussed? It happened to me when I fainted in the kitchen last month. Also have you felt déjà vu when you wake up? Happy New Year, Steve from London

  • @gervers Hi. I have not been knocked out by a fall or had a concussion that I know of. I have never felt deja vu but I do have some memory loss or fuzziness surrounding my faints. A doctor once told me that I may not be fully conscious between faints that happen so close together and that could explain the haziness.

  • That's a big dog, you can hug him when you start to see stars ;) Merry Christmas kiddo ;)

  • Wait, what exactly IS the dog doing? It looks like it has to do w/your hand movements, he kind of looks like he's chasing his shadow at one point, at another it looks like you're doing that Crocodile Dundee Aborigine voodoo, lol! Is it a service dog? I thought he seemed really unconcerned, I guess that's a testament to how often you faint! Thanks for you videos btw! I have POTS too, but never fully faint, I just "grey out" I guess? (Mean headrush, start seeing stars, and have to grab something)

  • @YouTubeJen

He does alert me. I just posted that video.

  • I've learned when I start to see stars, reach out and grab the nearest solid object or if there isn't one, sit down on the ground immediately. My first faint was @ 15 @ a friend's house and my head hit the corner of a wall with a heat vent, grated my scalp like a cheese grater. The hosp. wouldn't touch me til they found my mom 'cause I was a minor(LONG time), stitches... Now u got proof on video, let's not do it on purpose anymore? ;) U don't realize how important the hip is til u wreck it..

  • @drgn420 I just got finished doing it on purpose to show that Walburg does in fact alert me when he isn't being distracted.

  • ouch, did that f up your hip? do things dislocate when that happens? I used to be able to bounce and get back up... Do you have any hypermobility/EDS? Your joints are probably pretty well supported with all that exercise, keep that up for as long as you can, you need your muscles to be strong if you don't want to deteriorate, just be careful you're not somewhere you can fall and hurt yourself! Otherwise, looking pretty good for a POTS girl sista ;)

  • @drgn420 I have arthritis in my hips now from falling on them so much. I will be going to physical therapy soon about my knee. I do not have EDS. I am pretty flexible but not as flexible as the EDS people. Bless them. ;)

  • where did you get a dog that does that?? i need one..do you ever have seizure like activity after you faint?

  • @ilona73u I researched breeders of German Shepherds for about a year. When I found one that I liked, I told her why I wanted one and she helped me from there. I think he is awesome! A lot of work training them, though.

  • @ilona73u Lol, I forgot to say, no I don't have seizure like activity after I faint.

  • @sarahdionna are there any meds that work to control pots? at least the constant lightheadedness?? i guess i mean have any worked for you??

  • @ilona73u I think the most commonly prescribed meds for heart rate and blood pressure are Midodrine, Florinef, and Beta-Blockers.

  • @ilona73u There are a lot of different meds prescribed to POTS patients. The thing is, medication is a trial and error experience with us. What helps one of us can make symptoms worse in another. Side effects of the meds can be worse than the POTS symptoms. So far, I haven't found a combination that really helps.

  • @sarahdionna thank you =)

  • Oh Sarah! please tell me where you found that study that says that type A pp are more likely to get POTS, I need it lol x

  • @potsinfo It was so many years ago... I have no idea where I found that at. It might have actually been on a forum board.

  • To an average person, this may look like someone's had too much to drink, but I feel your pain. It's hard getting througha day with pots, but we must adapt to our situation and overcome the symptoms with time. If you faint too often, you can easily hit your head and get serious injury like getting paralyzed : ( It's cary to think about that, but we have to live with it.

  • @TheBitchFaggot You are so right! I have even been kicked out of businesses because of fainting. They don't want to be liable if I get injured. I say that is discrimination but I do understand them not wanting to get sued.

  • Thats so Awesome I am glad u got It I know how much it means!!!!

  • @mailmama1980

    Thank you!

  • I've never seen myself pass out either. It cracks me up how you're all excited about filming it, you're so positive! I would like to know what I look like when I fain too, haha. Aww I wanted Wahlburg to come to your rescue but he just starts wondering around! That's what my pets do when I faint too :/

  • @ChanShelly

He is suppose to bark at me before I faint. I guess he was too preoccupied with the shadows. lol.

  • should happen quicker than that I thought. Have they done an orthostatic tension test onyou with the inclined bed? It's pretty easy to prove. I'd like to see a video of that to see what the testing process is like.

  • @charlieclown I have done 2 of the Tilt Table Test. The first one was on Apr 13, 2005. My supine reading was= BP 112/63 HR 60. The highest my heart rate was recorded at was= 119 and my BP was 105/60 just before I fainted. When I actually fainted, my recorded BP was 37/? and my HR was 65 and SPO2 was 97. When I was laid back down my BP was 102/56 and HR was 50 SPO2 98. Diagnose: Vasodepressor Syncope.

  • I showed this video to 5 different people today, i was shocked at their reactions...i was like, this is what happens to me all the time. and they didnt even blink, they were just shocked. And then they looked at me, and it was just this look oh like WHOA!....before they knew what was causing me to pass out my old cardio actually taught me how to "pass out safely" i will make a video soon to demostrate (David my fiance not me of course), it helps protect the spine and head, it takes a little...

  • @stillpressinon ...bit to master but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature like the passing out.

  • I love your video and the song you set it to. I have also have the ABC's of Dysautonomia (which I have nicknamed the "Dysautomonster". I have shared your video on my facebook page in hopes that someone will understand a little better what is like to be us.

  • @lilfarfa Thank you!

  • Replay of my morning! I caught a video of my service dog alerting to one of my spells when we were out yesterday, but my computer ate the file. It's nice to see what we actually look like though... I think it looks worse than it feels when I go down because I stumble about for a few seconds before I hit the floor.

  • @stagunholy hey what does your dog do to alert you? i have a service dog as well and he is just starting to pick up on my cues (he is only 1.5 yrs old still learning) so far what he does is whine or lay at my feet and wont move until someone comes and helps me. First time we realized he knew how to alert me i was in the bathroom and he was just whining excessivly (which is never does) and we were perplexed as to what was wrong..then as i stood up i passed out and he layed next to me..

  • @stillpressinon and it was like oh...thats what you were trying to do...so far he is hit in miss with early cues, and still learning that when mom passes out you dont step on her :p but he does well with everything else i trained him to do. :)

  • its so weird to watch someone else pass out....i pass out a ton as well and ive been tempted to try to get it on video....i think i may try after this. Its just weird to see it from the outside....you are brave. Love the music btw!

  • @stillpressinon I love music like that! I don't really see myself as brave. I have to deal with it so I do. :) I believe everything happens for a reason. I have POTS for a reason and I am going to make sure that it is positive. I hope to help others understand as much as possible. I have lots of ideas for upcoming videos! I have started on some but still need to do a lot more work on them.

  • @sarahdionna I knowi am in the same boat been passing out nearly everyday for now 6yrs or so im just trying to make the best of it.It doesnt help when you have horrible drs.'m looking at doing some more community stuff. Its hard to stay positive though,i mean passing out is my most obvious symptom but the fatigue and body pain makes most days impossible to get through. plus the fainting gets dangerous. Im looking at getting a wheelchair so i can actually be out more without worrying about injury

  • @stillpressinon I learned a long time ago that the only person in this world that can make you happy and keep you positive is yourself. Every single day I give myself some sort of a treat and that helps a lot. Treats can be a delicious snack, a movie, fixing my hair, doing my makeup, painting my nails, picking flowers out of my garden, etc.

  • @sarahdionna its very true, i am learning that right now...well trying to put it into practice...for me as long as i feel like i accomplished something, even as small as putting away my dishes or making myself a sandwhich to passing my first 2 college classes with flying colors...those are what keep me going. :) keep up the videos i love your attitude and your dog :)

  • I love how your dog made sure you were ok before leaving the room.

  • @potsiemommy usually he barks at me before I faint. I am not sure why he didn't this time. I guess he was too concerned about the shadows. He is like me, we both have OCD. You guys will see that in some upcoming videos. lol.

  • POTS- Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

    NCS- Neurocardiogenic Syncope

    NMH- Neurally Mediated Hypotension

  • great job spreading awareness and being so brave! loved it!!

  • Geez Sarah... Sorry.... That's about how often i pass out and have fallen on people as well... Would you mind if i put this on my Facebook page? It's pretty rare to get passing out on tape... This video will help people see what we all go through everyday

  • @DustinWoodComedy Anyone is welcome to use any of my videos at anytime. I want people to see what we go through on a day to day basis. My hope is to eventually get every single symptom that I can on video and posted on here. I will try to get me fainting on video as much as possible and then make one video about all the times.

  • @CursedBracelet The girl that watched me faint today said that my eyes went crossed and rolled back. She watched to see exactly what they did. lol. I don't think I would be brave enough to do a fake faint. lol. I would be afraid of getting hurt. lol.

  • @CursedBracelet Lol. I have lots of really awesome stories, though! I want to do a video of me fainting in lots of different places and adding all the clips together to make one video. I seriously faint a lot in the summer. In the past 2 days, I have fainted 4 times. I fainted 2 times about 4 days ago as well. So in the past 5 days, I have fainted 7 times because 5 days ago, I only fainted once. I think I have my days correct on that. I might be a day or two off. lol.

  • @CursedBracelet I have stars going all the way up my calf so yes. lol. I also see the spots, sparkles, and gnats floating around too ;) When I first wake up I do have a head rush that isn't pleasant and I don't have all of my vision back just yet.

  • That's a bummer!

  • LOL I love how your dog just acts like everything's cool even though you just passed out lol. My cat climbs on me and goes to sleep lol. I move around a lot too bc I feel almost a restless burning in my legs. Your dog is so precious :) he made my day lol

  • @ashpauls Usually he will bark at me before I faint. I guess he was too concerned with the shadows to even care. lol. Silly dog.

  • @sarahdionna lol typical men

  • I have been so lucky that I haven't passed out yet.............when I am trying to weed I almost pass out and sometimes it's not even my yard! I just hope when it happens I don't get hurt! lol I make jokes about it and it will eventually happen. I am only able to weed 1 flowerbed anymore cause of that and my fatigue. Thanx for posting......u r brave!

  • @ironbith I cannot weed out my gardens at all. In fact, my flowers are looking horrible!!! The heat outside in SC is too much for me to handle!

  • WoW Sarah, that is craziness! I can't belive you got it on camera! Good Job :-) Hope you're head doesn't hurt too bad!

  • @Scootchinman I can't believe I got it on camera either. To tell you the truth, I only testing the camera to see what the image and coloring looked like but I was having fun with Walburg so I kept the camera going. It turns out, I just so happened to faint. I now know to not wear such light color clothing. lol. My head is okay. I have literally fainted close to or exceeding 2,000 times now.

  • There was no way that I was not going to post this!!! I want to share with the world what POTS is like for all of us. I am going to cover every single symptom!

  • Oh you poor thing...it's brave of you to post this.Your doc might be interested to watch the video too.I normally get a big warning if I am going to pass out. A very informative and interesting video!! Great job...and I hope you get better. --Cindy
