I remember this song . I am 31 years old. It has significance now. I have been crying over an ex of mine for 7 months now and this song brings me to tears even to this day. He didn't cheat on me technically, but I feel after everything we had been through after a year long long separation due to both of us having millitary obligations and after all the times we said we would meet up together. He ended up with someone else and is still with her til this day.
Music from 1980's and before.... Great I listen little to that modern music today and I am not really all that comfortable when you hear some loudmouth from some band called Nickleback and it lead singer is a wannabe Meat Loaf.
Todays music all I can say is that it sucks and Rock N' Roll has been spiraling out of control since end of 1980's
donnie vanzandt and jeff carlisi are still in the band, i saw tham when they came to south carolina, but i dont remember where the other members took off to. Back in 1987, they used to play at a club where i grew up. I met donnie vanzandt, and jeff carlisi, but thats about it.
Don Barnes was the lead singer, Donnie Van Zant was the backing vocalist. This song was sung by Max Carl, who joined the band on this album after the departure of Don Barnes. Barnes eventually rejoined 38 Special and Max Carl left.
I hated this singer. 38 Special lost there southern rock image. I was glad when Don came back. All I can say is Don Barnes is the vocals for 38 special!
sorry, I replied to the wrong person! yes I agree todays music sucks big time. how many lead singers does this band have. I just discovered them recently, although I have heard their songs for years but never knew who sange them. I guess better late than never.
"this heart needs a second chance.... she never meant a thing"...please don't leave me now... why can't we forget about the past...don't say it's over, I just can't say goodbye"-- classic stuff-great song!!
A great song. Max Carl sings the hell out of it, Me too was surprised this came from 38 Special. Wasn't a big southern rock person. But this was great. it;s on my all time favorite list.
As incredible as it may seem, being an 80s creature I came to hear this song for the 1st time 20 years after its release. Mmm, the 80s, the best memories. "I wanna go back and do it all over, but I can't go back, I know" - Eddie Money
Who are the original band members in this video? What happened to the original lead singer? Rather ironic because the drummer sort of resembles Frank Beard...ZZ Top's drummer.
Have always been one of the few great songs of the 80's. The fond memories of the girls in high school and the many summer cruises through the nights. :)
Saw Max last night...with Grand Funk Railroad....he sang this wonderful song....& he was right on as ever. Yeah....he's still got IT. Brilliant! Loving Max Carl.
this song at the beginning sounds like the Police's 'Every Breath You Take', doesn't it? man, 38 Special is such a great band. can't believe I didn't discover them sooner. heard a few of their songs but never connected the band to the songs
One thing that is really good about youtube, besides the fact that we can look at the artists we love, is the videos that come up on the side with artists we really never knew or artists we vaguely remember. This is one of those times. Glad I clicked on 38 Special. I remembered this great song. Now I can listen to more of their music.
Can anyone really sing these days? All you really have to do is go to a recording studio and you can make your own album with a better sounding voice then the original.
The best way to explain todays lack of real music is the record labels. Instead of promoting artists which bring something "new" they would rather promote artist which will provide more of the same because they are afraid it wont be as succesful.
It really is a shame, Record Company's seeing new inspiring artists as a threat. :(
This song wholly represents a time when music was art, and came from soul, rather then a team of writers paid for by the company.

nice tune. i remember this one back in the day getting heavy rotation in the piped in music at work. i prefer shinedown's song second chance to this though. so what if the lead singer is ugly as a mud fence, that boy can sing. lol
Was really sad when Max Carl left .38 Special. "Bone Against Steel" was one of their best albums & he is a fantastic singer/songwriter. I wish he'd come back to them but I guess 2 lead singers is one to many & he's with GFR now. Would love to see a .38 special reunion though.
Well I would if I could but i don't live anywhere near Dallas. LOL Hopefully 38 Special will come to Michigan one of these days though. Would luv to see them.

Wow, what happened to the beauty and magic of music? This song carries the exact same theme as more current ones like "On Bended Knee" by Boyz II Men. but which one handles the issue of a plea for forgiveness on something as serious as cheating with more sincerity and heart? Which song sounds more believeable and soulful?
This song is sublime. Max has one of those soul stirring voices. He is a fine replacement for Mark Farner although I wish Mark was still with Grand Funk. Music doesn't get any better than this.

The PERFECT example of Southern Rock taking a dump and playing with it. This is just soooo wrong. On many levels. The "wild eyed Southern Boys" really pussed it down to do a Lionel Ritchie rag like this.

I must admit that I love to fik myself, especially that now at 15 I have grown a very large milkstik. I love to work my meat at nite but the sound of my hand slicking up the meatpole hisses loudly and wakes my sister who comes to my room.Last night she gasped at the sight of my rod, criss-crossed with veins and raging purple, angry in its majesty. In a fit of lust she rushed over and swallowed it whole. The women of our clan are famous fellationists.

Very weird, but good and vivid writing, you should write childrens books.

I do agree this is good writing though, even if it is a little perverse.
