To be "outdone" by any Mancini composition would be, in my opinion, a great honor. You just don't mess with perfection.

The change in the rhythm disturbs the dreamy effect of the original somewhat but catches one's attention precisely because it isn't a carbon copy of the original. I don't know why people are complaining that this is not the same as the original, and that it's not as good. Moon River is one of my favourite songs of all time. I love Andy Williams version, I love Henry Mancini's instrumental version, and I love this. If you truly love the song, then you can appreciate it no matter who sings it. Every time I hear those opening lines, it brings a tear to my eye.
