Sculpting the War-Sloth: Zbrush Techniques part 1

I'm having issues. Once I create a basic body model, I will shift-a and add some muscle/armor to it...but then im stuck there and become unable to sculpt. I'll draw out a rendered tool and remove the other and i still only have Sketch1-3 brush, float, push-pull etc... but no standard brushes or anything. Can only add more spheres or armor
