World, thanks for ALL you are and do for me and my worldview and cultural view!! This video has some "flaws" and ways it could be improved, but that is what it is all about. I just so LOVE and appreciate that you are out there doing it ... in the real world of living.
I don't like the announcer voice saying, "WORLD: Today's news. Christian views." It's too typical of other news sources and movies. However, I thought the video was pretty good.
I have enjoyed World Mag for years and am glad to see your growing presences on the internet . I especially like the e-mail updates and often repost to Facebook. Good reporting, keep it up!
I agree with other comments that the moving background got distracting. Also I thought it was a little long. Otherwise great! We subscribe to World and love it.
You have to listen "fast" to catch it all. I think the video is distracting - HOWEVER, movement is important. Really, really love the brief snapshot overview of the mag.
My problem: When I pick up the magazine, I can't put it down until I've read cover-to-cover. This visual snapshot will help my focus.
yeah, i would say some background music would be a good idea. also the background, while not necessarily distracting gets boring to see over and over again. maybe change it to something simpler or something that moves slower. like a simple globe rotating slowly and a clean color. a couple of different contributors would be nice and add a change of pace, but it's not really that big of an issue. all in all, good delivery of the news, just maybe some stylistic changes and this would be golden.
Excellent. Fast Paced Intro/Trailer. Loved it! Just enough to whet the appetite. Great venue to encourage the iPad use of World Magazine! I liked the spinning globe and the sweater! :-)
I think this was supposed to be marketed to my demographic as hip or something (age 21) but you don't have to dress-up the information (kind of insulting that some of the older generations think we have so poor an attention-span).
Agree about the background... not so great.
But my first thought when it began was oh-no, Cheesy deep voice "Today's News (Today's News)...
I love World Magazine and like having a quick summary to share but I can't share a cheesy video clip like this with my friends.
Okay to give the website but hold the commercial, 3.5 to 4 minutes would be sufficient, content is great, sweater vest is fine, but the background just has to go for all the the before mentioned reasons.
I must agree that after the opening, a different background that doesn't have the twists and wiggles would be preferable. Too distracting. Also, a separate video should be created for the other services WORLD provides. Love having the option to share WORLD's content this way. Can't wait until I have time to read this issue. Good job, guys!
Take a breath already. I understand the need to cram this into a few minutes, but it seems too quickly paced. Also, the background is very distracting.
On the positive, he does look good in the sweater vest...
Good idea, but too long and too intense for me. I would love to share on FB a shorter clip with interesting tidbits from the articles (and with less of a sales-pitch feel). Maybe list the order info at the end, or run it along the bottom, silently? Good first try!
From my vantage as a long-time subscriber and fan of WORLD, the weekly emails alerting to the newest issues is enough for me. I promptly hop online and read them. I don't need this 'insurance salesman' hype. And if WORLD is aiming at the younger crowd then using an 'old guy' spokesman won't work.
First minute went fast! Great. First 3 minutes were fairly tight. Consider a second video for the additional products - IPAD etc. Background map of the world moving around became distracting, wasn't at first. I love your magazine, especially Andree Seu! Rely on the book reviews for my reading! By all means continue the videos - easy to share! (maybe shorter though!) THANKS!
Warren Smith did a great job! The globe behind him made me dizzy.Too much info, too fast, I think. And the pictures moved around too fast. Maybe 2 minutes shorter? We love World Magazine and think it's great that you guys are trying different things to attract new readers. Keep working on it - you'll get there!
Nice job! Great energy! Very professional looking. This will appeal to a younger audience and that is good! Older readers (Like me!) need to "bend" a little and support World's efforts to present the truth to younger audience.
As subscribers we love the magazine. The video idea is great, but a shorter video with a couple of video clips or soundbites from articles would be good. Oh yes, I learned that I have been mispronouncing several names! I am adding links to WORLD on my websites, rvharvey dot org and dot com I hope that is okay.
I love the magazine and am a long time subscriber. I'd love to see "World"'s viewership expand greatly, but not sure this video will do the trick. It didn't represent the magazine accurately in my opinion. I didn't care for the spinning background, fast talking and "hip" jargon. "World" is much classier than that.
I liked hearing a quick summary of the issue I'll be reading soon. I liked the talking speed, but, well, I'm afraid that if it's comfortable for me, it won't be comfortable for many other people. The spinning background was a bit disorienting.
Warren, great little video (overall). Happy to see WORLD trying such things, and hope you continue with it. You could take one beat off the pace (low it down a notch), and perhaps give a pull quote or two from the content (your readers are readers). Thanks, from a LONG time subscriber. db
I'm a subscriber. What i was hoping for was a little shorter, and a little punchier to interest my kids in reading it. I thought it was well done, but I got lost in the length and wasn't sure if some of the comments were meant to be comedic or 'journalistic jabs'. Make the humour humorous or leave it out. Too much info I think. I found some of the background 'skipping photos' very distracting. It seems so fast it felt stressful.
this is 2 fast, MTV-ish. If you are trying 2 reach that audience 2 get them 2 subscribe then, get someone more hip& young. And even with all the pics of pics, it would have helped 2 have other actual video in the presentation rather than just that one guy talking. It gave me a headache 2. Perhaps offer the freebie in the beginning 2 create more interest for the content he talked about. I would love a real live interview since we have not been able 2 afford WORLD for years tho we love it.
My first reaction was that the spinning background was quite irritating. I have to concur with everything adampratt said below.
I have been a subscriber for some years and have given subscriptions as gifts so I really think the magazine is excellent. I suppose watching this alerted me to what's in the issue that I might miss, but not something I would watch again to find that out.
Great video introduction to WorldMag! Good overview of the current issue & review of regular features. While some regular subscribers may not appreciate the video, someone with little or no knowledge of World's content may be motivated to look deeper and try a trial subscription.
I'm for any effort to increase the subscriber base and revenues. That translates into more resources to develop & expand the news and feature reporting, growing World into an even more dominate player in it's arena.
I'm not a current subscriber, but i get an email with your headlines. This video made me consider subscribing, so that means it is successful as a promo. But the fast talking and moving dotted background were negatives. but as an ongoing device, i would not waste time watching a promo, i would prefer to actually read content.
Congratulations. This is a very effective video, except for the moving globe in the background. It is distracting and make one dizzy. I've been a World subscriber for six years and love it. Thanks.
I'm a contractor instructor at a military institution... my 2 cents, first, who is the audience? Not clear from the presentation who you're targeting. Regular subscribers are already reading, those that aren't familiar with World aren't going to get a lot of the XL brain analogies, nor be impressed by the jab "what are you thinking". Good idea, but needs to be shorter soundbites. Concur with adampratt the visuals are a bit much and try and give a "hip" image as to the MTV viewers.
Nicely done but not helpful to me. I wouldn't watch this on a regular basis but can't wait for each issue to arrive. The movement to Kindle format was, however, a huge benefit to me. Now I can read World a good week before it arrives in the mailbox plus at a lower cost. Love you World!
Video well done but not helpful to me. I don't want to know what is in the magazine, I just want to read it; hopefully others will benefit and be encouraged to read it when it arrives.
A review of what's in the magazine is not helpful when I've already finished reading the magazine. The production values were good but I would hope you can use this channel for news featurettes that are either an expansion of articles in the mag or about things not covered in the mag.

And by that, I mean that the voice is too familiar. It should be a different sounding voice. Maybe not so gruff and deep, but a nice, clear baritone.

Like the info, but the random meaningless movement in the background made me close my eyes. Anybody got any nausea medicine?

It runs more like a commercial, not a magazine preview.
Great idea, looking forward to the issue!

Spinning background--aauughhh! Dizzyfying!!
Too long. Cut it in half or shorter.
More pictures, less of the talking head (and part of the body). Show, don't tell, so much.
Good idea.
