The Touch Pro 2 (Tilt 2 through ATT) had this very same problem. If you slid it open and held it two handed to type the signal would drop by 1/2 or more. To further that, I got the same Touch Pro 2 though Sprint and now the Evo 4g neither have any problems at all. I think the problem is exacerbated by the fact that its a GSM phone. Put a CDMA radio set in it and I bet the problem would be a lot less noticeable.

and yea u don't have to hold that way when u pick up calls just hold on the top and bottom with two fingers just don't hold on the black strip and u are good to go

The problem is apparently with a small number of phones. This story isn't a big deal though - just a scare tactic by people who are jealous of the I phone - as we say In my community: the only people who don't like I phones are the people who wish they had one or else jealous and bitter programmers and GEEK I.T. folk who love spending all day with an android or windows phone just doing basic things. You pay the extra money just for the fact that is has been developped correctly and tested in the most difficult circumstances. When bridging that gap, the antenna is detuned, and loses even MORE signal, which makes it so much worse then other phones when it comes to signal.

I totally agree with the people saying if dont like it, dont buy it! iphone 4 isn't the only phone with this problem. iPhone 3gs, blackberry, and samsung models have the same issue but you don't see people making such a big deal about those. This has been blown way out of proportion. People are just looking for a mistake from Apple because everything they do is so flawless. One apple mistake equals hundreds of android or other brands mistake. I have an iphone 4 and i love it!

The Touch Pro 2 (Tilt 2 through ATT) had this very same problem. If you slid it open and held it two handed to type the signal would drop by 1/2 or more. To further that, I got the same Touch Pro 2 though Sprint and now the Evo 4g neither have any problems at all. I think the problem is exacerbated by the fact that its a GSM phone. Put a CDMA radio set in it and I bet the problem would be a lot less noticeable.

@5X5equals25 go 90s or even 80's on cell phones we had the antennae that stick out right on the top of the phone,these phones are chunky and nice for some for the monkey grip so...if you have to hold your phone in a monkey grip/ death grip then maybe those are nice to have or may be a banana....Holding the monkey grip makes me lose a bar or two but even with that said i never had a drop call! and even in real life you get tired of holding it that way and switch hands or move hands
